Worst conditions I have seen in 15 years of playing. Anywhere. The fairways were overseeded, punched, and muddy as all get out. There was standing water everywhere and the insects that you would expect that much water on the course. I was assured when I made the time that course conditions were optimal, but it was like trying to play in a plowed cornfield. The rough was long and totally ungroomed. Carts on path on 75% of the holes (Informed of this AFTER I paid the green fees).
The course website refers to a new drainage system. If today's conditions are an improvement, the course must have formerly been submerged.

At $57 I feel like I was mugged, Won't be back, Will tell all to avoid this goat track.

Played Camarillo Springs Monday, October 19. The fairways had just been opened up from being over seeded and they looked great. Last week's rain probably played a huge role in the improvement. Also the greens were in excellent condition. They were very smooth and surprisingly fast. Some of the tee boxes need to be leveled but upon inquiry the staff said that they are in the process of rebuilding their tees. Some of the previously bad tee boxes have already been rebuilt.
Overall the course is a pleasant surprise from what it was just a month or two ago. Right now it is definitely worth the green fee.

Played here on 10/10. I have always enjoyed this course, but it was in the worst shape I have ever seen. What was really sad was the fact that the guys in the pro shop told us that the course was in excellent condition. When I went in after the round to express my disappointment, the guy acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. I hope at some point, they get their act together, and make this an enjoyable course again. Until then, you're wasting your money. It's really a shame.

Played on Friday 10/2/09, early AM tee time. There is plenty of watering being done on the course, but there are still barren dirt patches in the fairways, and some bunkers have standing water with very little sand in them (more like hitting off mud). The course is in good shape tee to green. Lots of very wet areas that could result in plugged lies or mud on your ball. Greens were soft and receptive, but smooth and fast. Keep your ball below the pin.

Just played here last Tuesday after work. Great super Twilight price - $23 w/ cart. Yes, there is an awful smell on a couple fairways, but it's an interesting course and quite pretty located at the foot of the mountains.

The rough seems to have gotten more difficult since I played here last. I don't know the name of the grass, but it really grabs your club. You have to swing very hard to get the ball out and where you want it to go. Very humbling!

There was no sign of a marshall and we would have liked to have seen one. The group ahead was playing scramble and taking too long.

All in all, you get what you pay for here.

Reasonable price with cart, but there are better courses out there that are around the same price or cheaper..

There are signs of life at Camarillo Springs. As of yesterday there was no stench from the lakes and playing conditions were nicer than I've seen in a while. The greens weren't as firm as the previous reviewer indicated though the tee boxes were a little torn up. It wouldn't take much to make this course really worth what they charge! (Better/more yardage markers, more water stations, not-so-wet sand, etc.)

The stench on the front side in the back area is unbearable too. I would still play it again but not rush out there.

The Springs has really made a turn around. This is not at all the course you might remember from years passed. The fairways are lush and maintained, the rough has actually been maintained and sculpted to frame the fairways, new tees...A real transformation from many years of marginal conditions.
However a newer policy of "be off the course by 8pm, no exceptions" (when it is light enough to play well beyond that time), communcated by the course marshall in a rather surly fashion really detracts from what could have been a great experience.
After many years of playing here and enduring very marginal maintenance and playing conditions the consensus of our group was we won't be returning.
If you want to try Camarillo in it's finest conditions in years, go for it....if you want some level of courtesy as a paying customer, you might want to pass.
