I managed to break away this weekend for some golf to take on Moorpark CC. I’ve been reading a lot of positive feedback about the course and it did not let me down. Wow, was it windy although. We teed off around 11:00am this Sunday and despite battling huge gusts and searching for my ball all day, we finished the round in 4 ½ hours. They started us off on the Canyon Crest 9 and then routed us to the Ridgeline 9. Personally, I like the layout of the Ridgeline 9 better but Canyon Crest is certainly more forgiving. Overall I thought both courses were in great shape but I have to give the nod to the Ridgeline 9 as being in better shape because the greens on the Ridgeline we more firm and rolled a bit truer. Afterwards, we grabbed a bite to eat in the clubhouse on the patio and you would swear it was like a summer day. Just beautiful out. The food was delicious and if you order the french fries or onion rings, they are cooked to perfection. Played golf with cychow and rsimper. Rsimper will be rating and writing the surveyor report so stay tuned for more info.

* Have to mention an amazing run of holes rsimper had. He hits hole 9 Canyon Crest in 2 and taps in for birdie, next hole on 1 Ridgeline, he just misses birdie and settles for par, next hole he drains a 45 foot putt for birdie, and for an encore, he just misses the green left on the par 5 hole number 3 with is second shot, calmly hits a pump-and-run from just off the green, over 100 ft from the hole, into the cup the for eagle! 4 under in four holes and he could have been -6 for the stretch! Now remember, we’re battling, no joke, 30mph winds. Rsimper has got some serious game.
