Not worth $85 on a Friday. We were a scheduled foursome, two didn't show, so they wanted to pair us up with a twosome from a later tee time. Does that make any sense. Why not keep the tee times and groups the same, I don't want to be forced to play with two people I don't know. That said, we had the first tee time, but they were going to let two "members" off before us. I asked about that and the starter said, "Well, the members are very particular about getting the times they want." Well excuse me. Our tee time was 6:30, at 6:40 the "members" were still hitting practice balls. I alerted the starter and he told me and my partner to go ahead. So fortunately, we were able to play a very fast round (3 hours and 15 minutes). I was not impressed with the layout. There weren't that many challenging par 4's. The only decent par four was 17, which was into the wind. Other than that, the other holes were very gimic-like. One par4 was so short, that I hit a 2 iron onto the green. Even from the tips the course plays way shorter than 7,000. I didn't play that great and I still shot 76. If I would have played the same at a real course like PGA Legends, I wouldn't have broken 80. Greens rolled true but kind of slow, but many tee boxes were slanted, fairways were soaked (they couldn't help that), bunkers were good, they have some very nice chipping areas around the greens. Conditions were okay, but the layout was less than impressive. El Dorado, my local muni, has more character and at a third of the cost. I will never come back to Moorpark Country Club. I feel sorry for the poor saps that are paying for memberships there; they're going to play there all of the time.

Greens have been verticut but it really doesn't affect putting. Rest of course in great shape. Played 2/19 at 7:20am and nobody was in front or behind all day. Very enjoyable to play at whatever pace ... Continue »

Greens have been verticut but it really doesn't affect putting. Rest of course in great shape. Played 2/19 at 7:20am and nobody was in front or behind all day. Very enjoyable to play at whatever pace you want. They're going to deep punch greens next month so play soon or wait awhile.

in three due to many tough holes.
Course tips: Hole #5 Par 5 ...Aim left of driving stick, ball will be lost if you hit right of stick. Hole # 11 - Par 3 - Do not land the ball on the hill on right side of green ; ball will not stop on green unless you hit a xtra backspin flop with a very soft ball.
Hole #12 - aim left of pin and use hill to bring back ball if you you are long- better long then short due to canyon.

Hole # 13 - aim for left side of green; hidden canyon on right if you miss green

Hole #16 Must be on left side of fairway to
have open shot at green.

Hole #18 - A given birdie, even if you get in the fairway bunker. Green is slower then other greens, due to being trapped by a side mountain. Great to finish with eagle or birdie anytime.

Great Course , but it needs MArshalls to keep people moving on back nine. Hole #14 had two groups waiting on tee because people had to look for balls on reachable par 4 (290 yrds, 60ft downhill).

Overall, great course and wonderful golf experience. Greens are running around 9+ with very few ballmarks.
Course does a wonderful job with divit repair and ball marks on greens.

Teed off at 12:30 on 2/7and at 3:20 we walked off the 9th green. Very disappointing for a course that told us several times that they prided themselves on a 4 hr rd. We never saw a ranger and didn't see the beverage cart till #8. I know it's Sat but come on guys, at least make the effort. With the wind picking up we saw the potential for a 6 hr rd and that was too depressing to continue. That said, what we saw of the course was nice. Greens rolled well and held a cleanly struck shot. Holes 2 and 3 parallel each other and contributed to the slow play as faders can reach the adjacent fairways.(we were almost hit by a 2nd shot while standing on #2 tee. Say something guys)#5 is a par 5 that features a 2nd shot down a steep grade to a green you can't see. Another potential bottleneck and again a ball rattled our cart while we stood on 6 tee. Again, no warning. Even w/twilight fees($55) I felt ripped .

Played today and the course is in excellent shape. At first I was a disappointed with the fairways, especially on holes 1 & 3, but the playing conditions improved as the round went on. Greens are in terrific condition. Not mentioned in the Greenskeeper report is they have a really nice “grass” driving range. This was my first time playing Moorpark County Club and it won’t be the last. Took me just over an hour to get there from Pasadena. Well worth it.

Moorpark Country Club is in absolutely wonderful immaculate shape. A truly challenging and fun track. Highly recommended!!

Played early 1/18. Unfortunately, we had to play the first four holes in a very heavy fog. Couldn't see the fairways. Couldn't even see the greens or pins on approach shots. The greens were perfect. Very fast as they dried out. The fairways were good, but kind of thin. Overall, I really like the course. It has a few too many elevated greens for my taste, but the course is a great test of your game.
