3rd out Sunday/8th. Very cool the second group let us through on the 3rd [already behind a full hole] tee and first group by #14. Able to finish under 3.5hrs.

I guess the greens were treated late Saturday- Sunday there was a light layer of sand and cross cut. Did not affect roll much and they were pretty slick downhill. By coming weekend they would likely be fully recovered.
Agree with all previous posts and Olivas has somehow snuck into a rotation for me- it’s come full circle and I personally have a lot of fun playing this course again. It challenges me to be a better golfer, especially around the greens+ course management off the tee. The fairways have greened up considerably so I rescind my previous ‘sandlot golf’ comment when the fairways looked and played like Abilene TX.

Played Early Saturday. Course is getting better and better. Like previous reviews, Olivas is shaping up. Customer service as always, excellent. From the club house, Mike at the first tee and the lady on the 17th. Makes the round enjoyable when you're treated well. On to the course... Tee boxes were good, some still showed affects of punching. Fairways keep improving. There are still some barespots but it's getting greener and greener. Roughs are brutal, just pull out another ball and take the stroke... Traps were fluffy. The greens were awesome. Seemed like they cut them really short making them look bare in some areas. Rolling true and fast. Pace was okay. Did get hit at from the group behind us, with no "fore"... jerks... other than that, Olivas is a course to play if you have a chance

Played Monday twilight 6/2. Course is in GREAT shape. Fairways are the best that I have seen them. It was neat to be on #15 on the back nine , turn and look and see sprinklers going to work on all of the front nine fairways.

Greens were in great shape and rolling true. Sand is always in great shape here. Looks like they are seeding some of the back 9 tee boxes. All of the tees are level. Played a very smooth and quick round at Olivas. Wind was howling on front nine and died on the back nine-shot identical 37's on both 9's with two 3-putts....as far as putting goes here they can put the pins in some very challenging places on this course...I heard stories about pin on #6 for the City Championship a day earlier. I really enjoy the friendly staff here..they make you feel welcome. The facility has a nice chipping and putting green and a range where most of the times you can hit off of the grass. This course is a gem when the conditions are like this. The cooler ocean breeze makes this place that much more enjoyable.

Played in the Ventura City Championship 6/1. The greens are back to smooth, firm and reasonably fast, although I've seen them faster. The fairways are getting better and better, I'd call them above average now, definitely not as thin or as many tight lies as this winter. The tees, traps and aprons were all in excellent conditions. The rough is VERY hit and miss, it's uneven, so you may get an almost perfect lie in one spot and move a few feet away have a lost ball. The fairways were well watered and soft in many areas, so the course was playing longer than normal overall.

Played Monday twilight 5/19. The greens are true and were on the slow side and will be back to perfect condition in about 1-2 weeks, still in great shape even though they were punched just weeks ago. The tee boxes are lush and beautiful. Traps are in great shape. The fairways now have some grass growing on them and really have improved since I last played here. I am hoping that they keep seeding and watering the fairways even after the City Championship. The staff here is so friendly and the practice area is great. It was a nice change to be able to play in the cool ventura breeze and get away from the hot valley. Pace of play was outstanding.

The greens are still a bit bumpy and slower than usual after the aeration 3+ weeks ago. another 7-10 days they should be great again. The FAIRWAYS have radically improved in even the past week. Much lusher and coming in nicely, I even used a lob wedge several times w/o issue....which was previously almost impossible off the hardpan. The tees and fringes are as lush as you will see anywhere. Customer service here is always A+. The course condition is now improved enough to the point that I would definitely recommend this track as a must play for anyone in the central Ventura County area.

WOW! What an excellent renovation of this course. Olivas, once such a dog track has been completely reconfigured and is a fantastic layout. A true links style, feels like you are playing a coastal course in NorCal somewhere. The wind in the afternoons only adds to the feel and the layout plays you against the wind on nearly every hole.
Only disappointment to an otherwise great day was the turf conditions on a number of the fairways. I do hope that these issues will be resolved and that Olivas won't revert back to the pasture lands of the past.
