Walked this AM with a buddy and a local single. This is an extremely fun course if you can get out and get around in a reasonable time frame. Our PoP, walking was 3 hrs 40 min. We were never waiting on any shot and had a 2 some behind us (we asked a couple times if they wanted to play through) right on us the whole round.

Greens...have healed really nicely. Rolled very true and had a really good speed. Downhill you had to be careful and uphill you could give it some go. Had 7 birds today so safe to say I was feeling these greens. Only complaint (not a course complaint) just wish people would fix their ball marks.

Boxes (played the tips) were pretty decent. Only had to really look for level ground on a couple....the rest were all pretty easy to find a good spot with plenty of grass.

Fairways were in great shape. #1 had a couple spots as GUR but that's really the only issue I saw out there.

Rough (not desert/planter area)....plenty of coverage. Little long but not too punishing. Did not give you a hard time getting out of it.

Planter areas...long. good luck finding your ball. Lost a couple where we thought we saw exactly where they went.

Played on the Friday afternoon of 8/25 teeing off at 2:50. I called around lunch and they were able to get my buddy and I on which was pretty lucky given how busy this course usually is. Great service, twilight rates, and complimentary push carts. Course was in great shape. While the fairways are very wide, there is a nice first cut of rough about 1.5-2in with thick native areas where you are likely to lose your ball. Bunkers were in good shape and definitely better than most public courses in the SB/Ventura area. Greens are also good but rolling slow as usual. They are undulating complexes in which the pins are usually placed in tough areas. Wish they would get the greens rolling here one day because it would be a lot more fun. While there is pitch mark damage on most, it’s not significantly bad given how much play the course gets. The tougher holes barely have any. It’s a fun layout with hazards and holes requiring different clubs and distance control. In the afternoons you’d be lucky to play in a breeze under 15mph. We walked the Tour tees and soared through our round, only waiting for the group in front on a hole or two. Played in about 4 hr 15min

Walked the Blues (71.2/122/6530) with my Gary and Matt. $30 to walk twilight. Partly cloudy, in the 60's with a 2 club wind most of the round. We waited most shots even as a 3some walking behind stacked 4somes in front of us, POP slightly less than 5H. Tees were lush, level and in good shape with few unfixed divot zones. Fairways mostly lush, Nicely cushioned and good to play from with a few GUR areas per fairway. Rough just off the fairways was green, uniform and lush. Get outside the cart paths and it is thick, lost ball vegetation. Nice to see water back in the lakes here as well. Sand traps have nice beach sand and were well maintained. Only negative is that they could use more sand IMO. Large poa greens were receptive and rolling nicely. Soft enough that chips/pitches were making ball marks, which many do not think to fix. Many undulations to these greens and we they had some tournament pin locations today. Very friendly staff is always a + here. Really nice practice areas and you almost always get cooler temps with an ocean breeze. Highly recommend this course, excellent, very fun to play layout.

Walked the blues this afternoon twilight with my buddies Nick and Matt under partly sunny skies and the normal 10 to 15mph Ventura afternoon breeze. Pop was 5 hrs behind a busy course. Great times as always with friendly staff, great practice areas, cooler temps and overall solid conditions on a solid course. Greens were very receptive, very soft and rolling very true. Many undulations to these greens and we had some nice challenging pin locations today. Rating the greens an 8/10 Fairways were mainly lush, nicely cushioned and a pleasure to play from. Rated 8/10 Tees were very lush, level and in very good shape. Rated 8.5/10 Not in any bunkers but they looked to be all raked with their usual nice beach sand base to them. Rough just off the fairways was green, uniform and lush. Great shape. Just outside of the cart paths thick vegetation. Rated 8.5/10. Highly recommend this track.

Played here today with a 1:20 tee time. $53 to ride. Paired with a walking single and a riding twosome. Started right on time and pace was great early, then really slowed down around the fifth hole. I'm not sure if some groups quit later on or what, but it picked back up the last 4 or 5 holes. Total POP just a bit over four and a half hours. Sun broke through a couple times but mostly cloudy, cool, semi-windy day. Conditions are pretty great. Greens are smooth, medium-fast, and medium firmness, accepting full shots well. Fairways are excellent except for areas clearly marked as GUR. They provided great lies. The rough is in a little lesser condition but overall pretty lush, although you might find some bare spots here and there. Blue tees were good except a handful of holes that were sanded pretty extensively. The sand was only in certain spots (not the entire tee box), so I'm not sure why they wouldn't just move the markers on those holes for a few days. I was in one bunker and it was really nice; a couple inches of loose sand on top of a firmer base underneath. I'd been missing this place with no GK Plays in June this year, and then when I recently played Corica Park up north it felt very much like a poor man's Olivas to me, so I was happy to get out there. Also, I hadn't played here since the rainy season that made some of the hazards into actual lakes once again. As Gary mentioned in his previous review, there are still lots of wildflowers bordering the course and it's really pretty, even though today's cloudy skies didn't really allow the course to come to life, visually. Always love this place, though. Definitely recommended.

Late on this review. Walked the blues early this week joining 2 nice singles under cold conditions with a 1 to 2 club afternoon wind. My first time here since September. What a beautiful looking golf course right now! Flowers are blooming and waste areas outside of the cart paths have knee to waist high plants and beautiful flowers. The lakes are full of water between 11/12 and 13/16 which looks awesome. This is the way the course first looked when it opened with tall waste areas and the lakes filled. The pouring rain the last several months has made this place off the hook beautiful. Our POP was only 4 hrs as we caught a nice break in the tee sheet. Awesome staff and practice areas.

The greens rolled very nicely and were firmer than usual but still holding irons like darts. Rated 7.5/10.

Fairways were damp and gave no roll. Mostly all lush beautiful fairways with just a couple spots of muddy GUR spots. Rated 8/10.

Tees level, lush and in great shape. Rated 8.5/10

Was in greenside bunkers on 3,5,16 and 18 that were in very good shape raked with ample sand. Rated 8/10

Rough just off the fairways inside the cart paths in great shape maybe 2 inches and lush. Outside of the cart paths you are gone. Rated 9/10

Just can't wait for summer rounds out here in the next 3 months. Highly recommended!

Nice to see water in the lakes and thick growth beyond the rough. Fairways were very wet and being aerated today. Lots of unfilled divots in the fairways and ground under repair. Greenskeeper must have been mad as pins were placed on slopes near edge of greens. Greens were quick but many unrepaired divots. Played in under 4 hours.
