The course is rounding back into shape rather nicely. I was pleasantly surprised at how green the fairways and greens were, especially on the front. The back side had a couple fairways with some small brown patches and a couple of greens with the same, but considering the heat we've had, the course looked great.
Greens played considerably different on the two sides. On the front, the greens were pretty receptive to high shots and balls generally held the greens. On the back, as it dried out a bit, the greens got much firmer and it was back to chasing the ball to the greens because they were getting pretty hard. I personally like the firm greens on the course, and I was glad to see that feature of the course coming back into play.
Everything else was typical Rustic Canyon. Group in front of us had some walkers, so what could've been a nice 4.5 hour Saturday round turned into a 5 hour round. Also, as usual, stay out of the traps because you never know what you're going to get in there (peebles, ants, etc.).

This course is in good condition. The false fronts on the greens will give you you heartaches for your (GIR %) but, will reward you if you dont mind putting through them. People please fix your divots... Continue »

Greens are not receptive in the afternoon, did not hold any approach shots. All of the shots ran off. Come in short and let it run up to the hole.
Greens are tricky, dont toss your putter, the greens are not easy.

Week-end round, 5 hrs. Course is in great shape except greens and fringes are being heavily watered to protect them from the heat and they are soft and slow right now....putts are true but slow. Fringes are particularly vulnerable to ball marks since very few people fix them. Fix three ball marks each time you walk on a green to help protect them......

Rustic Cayon was in pretty good condition. The fairways were cut real nice. The probelm was the greens/fringes. Both were cut the same, so the only thing that would distinguish the difference between the two, was the color. Also, I couldn't believe how ridiculously slow the greens were. Every putt would just lose speed & die. Paid $67 to ride. The clubhouse has excellent food. Try the tri-tip special if they have it.

7/14 early round 3.5 hrs walking....walk to ball, hit it, walk to ball...etc. I just don't understand why it takes anyone to play a 5 hour round.

Greens healing up nicely very smooth and putt very true, little slower than normal but in 2 weeks they should be excellent. Couple of them have some rough areas.

For riders they are fertilizing the fairways so it is 90 degree front side and cart path only back. With the heat and cart rules I suspect afternoon rounds will be slow on the back side.

Played 7/8. Greens and fairways were pretty thirsty, however the overall experience makes the drive worthwhile. Best bang for the buck in So. Cal.

Played 7/8. I play here at least a dozen times a year. Unfortunately, the greens were not in good shape. It probably cost me at least 5 strokes. Lots of strange bare spots which makes me wonder if there might be some disease issues. In addition to that, I must have fixed at least five ball marks on every hole! This is such a great course, and one of my favorites. I sure hope they get the greens back to their original condition.

Play here at least once a week, I am disappointed on one hand as they are sanding greens. They just punched them on 6/5 and it seems that we cannot go more than 2-3 weeks at this course without them sanding or punching greens. Very frustrating since putting is alot of your score, but I guess on the otherhand staff is trying to do the best they can to keep greens good long term. Fairways have dry spots and need water bad in some spots. Played an enjoyable 3 hour round with a cart with buddy midweek. still one of the best deals in the county during the week.
