My buddy Navin and I played hooky from work one Thursday afternoon in order try Rustic Canyon. Off to a rocky start because mapquest.com provides innacurate directions. Call the club house for the correct exit.

The course, truly links style, is in great shape. Wide fairways, numerous sand traps and huge, sprawling greens. I'm a decent putter and I four put the first green. The course is in a beautiful location which offers a sense of isolation and peace. There were only two down sides to our golf experience. First, the wind was definitely a factor. Second, the course backed up on about the fifth or sixth hole. It was so bad, we backtracked to start the front nine again.

Overall, a good golf experience. I'd definitely play there again and the rates present an extraordinary value.

Well worth the 40+ mile drive from West LA. Truly a unique course for the area. Overall, very playable but still challenging. Back nine more difficult than the front simply due to 14, 16, and 18. Those three holes, thankfully broken up by the par 3 15th and 17th, are some difficult pickins...14 is a GREAT hole from the tips.

I wish the practice area was a bit nicer - just a bigger flatter putting green and I'm a happy camper.

Well done with the layout. I'll definitely be back several more times before summer's done with.

Balls wouldn't stay on tees or the green. Kinda like the '91 Ryder Cup. Love to try again under calmer conditions. Shot makers course. Great layout.

Great track but on this Saturday afternoon it played very slow and there was a 25 mile an hour breeze. We began at 12:15 pm and did not finish until 5:40 pm. The wind was a factor in the slow play I believe. Loved the layout and would absolutely play this couse again. There were some rather slow players out there on this day and maybe they should have been playing from a different set of tees but that's public courses. The staff was also a bit cranky at the end of the day in the clubhouse area but I am sure it's because they all wanted to go home. I play courses for the layout and not the staff so their attutide would not keep me away from this one. Overall a great and different game on this links type of layout.

Well worth the 45-minute drive and two-hour wait on the singles list to play this gem again. It's in fantastic shape right now, with very firm greens running medium-fast, and fairways mainly lush with some thin areas and some bare spots. The rough is lush & pretty thick. My only complaint today was pace of play, which was slower than I've seen it before at Rustic, but that's a minor complaint considering the overall excellent conditions.
