Played on Mar 22. As expected, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Was a little disappointed in some of the tee boxes on the par 3's, and #7. There was a fair amount of divot damage, but I guess you can't expect much on a Saturday at midday. Hit into two bunkers and both were firm-packed. Probably due to the recent rains. Otherwise, it was a beautiful day on a beautiful course.

Wow. I want the fairways for my living room carpet. Perfect. Played early this morning and it was a beautiful thing. Well, except for my putting. Speedy smooth greens (actually there were a lot of unrepaired ball marks on a couple... ) really amplify my putting weakness. I managed not to see any sand traps so I can't report on those. Did get a look at some of the long gnarly stuff beyond the edges... you'd think with fairways so wide I'd manage to stay in them more often!

I'm really starting to love this course now that I've played it three times. Beautiful, quiet, relaxed setting. Great conditions, tough to score. We're going back next week too!

One thing to keep in mind...SNAKES..we saw a few and as the weather warms up they will too....BE CAREFUL when looking for a ball! Greens roll like none in ventura county!

Rustic Canyon definately lives up to all the hype. The course is in perfect condition, incredible considering the low price. The course is wide open, plays very easy until you get to the greens. The Greens are very difficult, especially the elevated ones where if you miss a putt a few feet long your ball rolls 10 yards down the hill. If you can handle the greens consider yourself an excellent putter. This course is a must play for anyone in southern california who likes a challenge. I can't wait to play it again.

Wow! Played Rustic Canyon for the first time and I loved it. It's so different than playing almost all of the other local courses where you just shoot at every pin. It takes a while for your mind to adjust to hitting the ball so much shorter into the greens. The fairways were immaculate. Greens were smooth. I loved everything about the course.

The design of this course is unlike anything else around and I often wonder if local golfers realize what they have. Unlike most courses in SoCal very little earth was moved in constructing the course and the architects did a brilliant job of using the ground features that were there waiting to be exploited.
The ample fairways allow for strategy as you must put yourself in a good position to approach the greens on just about every hole. In my opinion the greensites are the best thing about Rustic Canyon and are unmatched for their naturalness and complexity by any course I can think of in California.
This is the best public course to open in Southern California since the Stadium Course at PGA West.

On 1/2/03, winds were beyond difficult. At first it was a true test, than the back nine was all but unplayable. We guessed we could say we know what Scotland must be like! I'd probably go back when I knew the air would be calmer, but it's a beautiful facility and a fun course.

A terrific course for the money! The fairways are generous, but the approach shots are tricky. The greens are difficult to hold from any distance out. I found it almost impossible to get up and down to save par because of the all the contours in the greens. You can putt from 15 yards off the green, but it's not easy to get it closer than 10 feet. They buried some elephants out there on the fringe.
