the best public course within 150 miles. greens are coming back nicely. course playing a tiny bit soft right now -- that's soft by rustic's hard and fast standards. going to enlarge the 8th green soon. 7th fairway almost back. new back tee boxes in a few places. and a large new bunker complex on 10. all in all the changes just strengthen what is a phenomenal golf course.

Best bang for your buck too. By the way, stay on the grass unless you like stepping on poisonous snakes:)

Played 4/21. Good condition considering recent aeration. Greens a bit bumpy, tees boxes a bit sandy, but still a great value. (I finished all 18-holes twilight for $20) I like the 'new' #10

The new #7 short fairway is supposed to reopen May 1. The new #10 cross bunker adds a good visual to what I thought was the weakest hole on the course. There's new sand in the bunkers of most holes.... Continue »

All of the greens should be about fully recovered from aeration by next month.
The greens play OK to pretty well now, still a bit bumpy 'n' jumpy putting though.

The administration, staff and greenskeepers to a great job there. Cheers to Jeff Hicks and all of the others involved.

I feel like I should be telling you to stay away instead but May and June are going to be great months to play at Rustic Canyon.

Went out @ twilight: 3:00. The tees were in alright shape. Some of the fairways were heavily seeded in, but not in others. The same for the rough was true. Very spotty, and can get very deep. The greens, although the course played great were horrible, to say the least. I remember Rustic to have some of the fastest and smoothest greens in the LA area. Not today, howvever. They were extremely slow, bumpy, and just overall awkward. I had a good time. Course Rating: 7.9

Great Course. Not sure what's environmentally sensitive but players should be allowed to retrieve balls from those areas.

we all have heard about the aerated greens, but no one mentioned the tee boxes, they are aerated in most cases as well, its like hitting out of a bunker in some cases.

we all have heard about the aerated greens, but no one mentioned the tee boxes, they are aerated in most cases as well, its like hitting out of a bunker in some cases.
my only adivce the the current aerated greens is to read less break and to hit the putt firm to get it to the hole.
in addition, on some holes they are adding new bunkers so there is some thick patches of sand over some of the holes because they are still building them.
there is also a new hole on the course, hole 7 is now a 100 yard par three because the fairway for that whole was washed out.
