Teed off early this morning. Course was in great shape. Only two complaints: The place was soaked and there is a ton of ball mark damage on the greens. Found myself fixing two or three a hole. Next time I’ll tee off later to avoid the wet conditions.

Played 7/24 afternoon. The layout of this course is great and in excellent shape with lots of variety, character, and personality. You have opportunities to boom drives, forced carries, fairways that end, long tough holes, short tricky holes... If you are new here, pay the $5 for a yardage book. The greens are challenging and it is critical that you play to the proper position on the green. They have excellent diagrams of the greens and hole position charts, but it will take playing here a few times to learn these greens. My only negative is that most of the greens have too many ball marks. It seems to be a combination of delicate greens and ignorant golfers who don't repair their ball marks (I fixed marks on several greens). If you are up to the challenge, this is fun course to play.

Ball marks were everywhere but the tricky greens will roll true. Distances from greens to tees are often long and accomodate houses and carts-not walkers.

Played a father/son tournament here with the VCJGA. I had played the course once before but really didn't remember much. The course is in excellent (much of it was absolutely pristeen) condition with both fairways and greens. The staff is very courteous and the chicken fingers we got at the turn were extremely tasty. The phone to the snack bar on the 9th tee is something every course should have (why don't they?). There are a few "goofy" holes. I'll have to play there a couple of more times to feel confident in the shot selection on those holes. I felt we played better than our score so I'm sure that "course knowledge" played into that a great deal. Play with someone who knows the course and, as always, be confident in the shot you decide on (easier said than done when you really have no idea what you're looking at).

Played 6/29 early in the morning. Basically, the entire course was in immaculate condition. Only small complaint was the groups in front of us were not fixing their ball marks. I don't understand how you can play a course which so clearly tries hard to keep their greens in perfect condition and golfers don't do their part by fixing their marks on the greens. By the way, the marshalls did a great job today. The course started slowing way down around the fifth hole. They jumped on some slower golfers somewhere up ahead of us and got everyone back on track. I wish more course marshalls would follow their lead. Again, everything about the course was in perfect condition. I highly recommend this course. It's a real shotmakers course with so many various pin placements.

Played the course on Jun 21. 8am Sunday morning tee time. The course was not crowded at all. In fact I would consider it extremely slow for a great course on a weekend morning. It's tough to make any criticisms about this course. Our group played from the blues in a little over 4 hours (a 1, a 2 and two 9 handicaps). Tee boxes were in decent shape. Fairways were in great shape. Sand was better than average. Greens rolled straight and true. About the only fault I could find is that the cart girl didn't have any chocolate chip cookies on board when she came around. If that's all I can complain about, then you know you should get out there and play!

Played Sterling Hills on Fathers Day. Took advantage of the Fathers Day special which I've never seen at other courses. Played in under 4 1/2 hours teeing off at 1:30pm on a Sunday! Course is in great condition and staff was friendly as usual. Can't wait to get back.
