Played my match with Francisco today. Paso Golf Club was unique; perhaps a half inch of rain in an hour and a half. We stopped for lunch around eleven to see if the rain would settle down. We were back out at 12:30 and waded through the back nine. I wore my water proof shoes...NOT. Greens were so flooded we agreed to automatic two putts on the worst ones. Often the fairways were ankle deep in water with no way around. I had a great time playing with cops. A fun day with two super guys. I won the first holes then we played even for the rest of the day.

I played Paso Robles Golf Course today, and after playing this course for over 40 years I don't think it's ever been in better condition. Fairways are plush and smooth, greens are fast but fair and bunkers have sand, unusual due to winds in our area. For $28.00 it is the best golf bargain for a hundred miles. The difference of the quality of this course between today and five years ago is night and day.

Wet, Wet, and then some wind. The sun was out but make no mistake it's still winter conditions. The greens were excellent. Completely smooth and probably mowed for the first time in a few days. Rarely a pitch mark to be found and it goes without saying with all the rain we've had that the greens were soft. Tee boxes were also of top notch quality. Lush, level and divot free. And then there was the rest of the course. Soaked!! Fairways were ok at best. Some thin areas mixed in with what would normally be mostly lush. However, about 50% of the fairways were soggy swamps. To the point they had some sump pumps out pumping water out of the low spots. Off the fairway and it was pure quagmire. No carts were allowed out at all but kayaks were!! Seriously, it was that wet. MY guess is carts won't be allowed out for a few days maybe longer if additional rain comes in. There were only a handful of groups out so POP was fine. Overall, it wasn't too bad. Chilly for sure when the breeze/wind kicked up but walking helped keep warm.

Tee'd off at 7:45 am on a brisk morning. Waked the course to keep warm as its that time of year again. Course is in real nice shape. Greens were excellent easily an 8.5. They rolled very smooth with hardly a pitch mark. Greens were soft and receptive to approach shots. The greens were rolling a tad slow (medium-slow speed), but other than that they were excellent.

Skirt area around the greens were also in excellent conditions. Fairways offered a good hitting surface throughout. There were a few cosmetic brown spots but still easy to play from. Tee boxes for the most part were level and very lush.

Sand traps were also great. Being mostly flat the course is easily walkable with most transfers being super short. There are a couple transfers that have young across the street but nothing too major. Water comes into play on 6 holes to make the track interesting and not just a flat boring back and forth trot.

For those who don't like houses on a golf course, there's Hunter Ranch up the road a couple miles. If you don't mind some houses then Paso Robles GC offers conditions just as good as Hunter but at $25 cheaper.

A quick update on course conditions. Course is in real nice shape right now. Greens are rolling smooth as always at a medium pace and are holding approach shot very well. Sand traps are excellent and tee boxes are level and lush. Fairways are lush for the most part with a few thin areas here and there. Skirt areas around the green are very lush offering great lies for the chance to get up and down.

Paso Robles GC is always a favorite track that offers good use of all clubs. See my previous review of the track for more details on the layout.

Yesterday's bike ride was way too short and with the weather so great, I needed to get out for a walk (around a golf course). Most of the courses in the peninsula punched their greens earlier this week so I headed south to Paso Robles GC. Course conditions is right on track. Fairways that had a few thin spots but not nearly as bad as in January or even earlier in the month when I was here.

Greens were firm but rolled true for the most part. There were a few bumps along the way. I suspect they will be aerating their greens in the next month. Sand traps are excellent right now with the best fluffy dirt I've seen on a course in a while.

Tee boxes were all in great shape. Very lush, divot free and level.

At first glance the layout seems boring as there are only 3 dogleg holes. However, with strategically placed water hazards, and obstacles like trees in the middle of the fairway, you are forced to plot your way around often teeing off with less than driver.

I don't think I've ever seen a beverage cart, but in addition to the decent restaurant/bar at the clubhouse there is a nice snack shop at the turn. As a side note they have the best pastrami panini's

Walked the Blues (6157/70.6/121) in 4H with Alex326, Dale and Darren. The weather was clear and windy. The course was packed for a Friday afternoon, but moved well.

Old school, tight layout with many holes having working class homes on one or both sides. Numerous tees are a long way from the last green as you cross streets and go through residential areas. Several holes have lakes that are hidden from the golfers vantage point when they are making the shot approaching the lake. Par 70 layout with five par 3's and three par 5's.

The tees were semi lush and decently maintained.

Both the rough and fairways were winter thin, playable but just okay.

The sand traps were nicely maintained with fluffy sand.

The greens putted decently. Medium to medium fast speed, firm but they usually held full shot approaches.

Good but limited customer service. No drink cart, Marshall or Starter. Small range that did not look full size. Nicely stocked pro shop. Not a bad layout, but $38 to walk mid day is too much for this course. No recommendation.

I've always liked this course but don't get out here as often as I would like. Greens are always in good shape with just right amount of undulation to make it challanging yet fun and manageable. Course has a few lakes and water hazards to keep things interesting and make you plot your way around strategically. There are only 3 par 5's on the track but hole #10 really should be a par 5. It's a 470 yard par 4 with a pond guarding the front of the green.

Fairways have numerous thin and dead spots throughout the entire course. I imagine it's just because of the time of year. Usually the fairways are pretty lush. The one sand trap I was in had nice fluffy dirt in it. Tee boxes were fine except for a coup,e of the par threes which were thin and full of divots.

Clubhouse house setting is nice as it sits overlooking several holes including the 9th and 18th greens. Carts do not have GPS but do have pin sheets on them so you know where the flag is in relation to the rest of the green at least

all in all its a fun track even with all the houses surrounding the course.

I played here for the first time last Thursday, going out as a single just before 4 p.m. It was wide open and I finished in just under 2 hours with a cart. I paid $35 (resident rate), so big thanks to the course there. The course is really nice, except for the housing tract which lines it. I was scared I might hit a house, but they are (for the most part) far enough from the landing areas, except for hole 5. I am proud to say I did not hit anyone's property. Greens were very nice; maybe a little on the medium side of speed, but it was not super slow. They rolled smooth and there were very few ball marks as the afternoon winds seem to dry the course down a little. Lots of undulation and chances to play some break here and there, especially hole 18. Good rollout on the fairways, too. The rough was inconsistent; not too penal in some areas and somewhat heavy in others (especially around the greens). I will play the course again when in the area.
