Played here 1/31/24. Love the layout! Many upcountry and coastline views. Requires strategy and execution. Lots of uneven lies. A few blind shots but even more if you don’t keep the ball in play in the right areas, hence the strategy. Nice mix of uphill/downhill shots and doglegs. If you have played Pete Dye courses you can see his signature all over this one! Signature 17th hole with island green…reasonable size target if you pick the right club. Saw lots of wild life, especially turkeys! I think this is a great value for the money. Greens were in good shape though I’m still mystified by people who don’t fix their ball marks. Traps could use some work(sand) and they need some new carts. But it is on my list to play every time I visit the Big Island.

Played the 23rd of November, just getting around to writing this. Great course and really fun with a much different vibe than most courses on the big island. Course is in good shape from tee to green and the greens were in great shape, tee boxes level and nice, fairways in great shape and perfect lies, and the cart guy and pro shop was a pleasurable experience. Well worth the drive out here and some really fun holes with plenty of challenge.

I played here last Tuesday, first out; paid about $129 with range balls. They would not let me out until at least 7 a.m. The starter was nice, but in no hurry. I got out ahead of the other golfers as a single around 7:10 and finished at 10:15.

The course is amazing and in good shape right now. I played the Member tees: 6012 yds, 69.4/132. All good conditions with level tees, good grass coverage tee to green, and easy pin locations. The greens ran slow with a lot of grain. I had a one-foot putt that turned left and missed, lol!

Overall, I liked the course and the layout. I might have gone back, but one week of vacation did not allow the time to really golf a lot. I did see some discounted tee times on Teeoff.com and was very tempted to return here for about half of what I paid, but it would be later in the morning and very likely a much slower pace of play.

I recommend this course and it has some very nice scenery for the west side of the island, as it is more tropical in appearance than the resorts down on the beach (I stayed at Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort). It's also a little bit cooler in temperature so that's a plus.

7/18 using teeoff deal time with 20% added discount for total of $62 good for Hawaii and pretty good for this particular course. Conditions overall were mixed ranging from quite good to fair. Majority of fairways were well covered with a broad bladed variety of grass cut to a nice level. Some fairways had mixed types leading to varied lies and some thin conditions. Rough was mostly the thicker bladed grass which quickly stopped the ball and often provided for a challenging recovery shot. Anything beyond the rough was 2-3 feet deep and gone. Course has good variety with a nice mix of shorter holes that still provide a challenge as fairways are more narrowly cut with water potentially in play on about 1/2 the holes. Course is up country scenic 10 or so degrees cooler with good vistas.
Tees level with good cover. Bunkers were consistently good with groomer fine but compacted white sand.
Greens with a couple of exceptions were good with #1 and #13 having some bare spots. More on the firm side rolled about medium with some grain to factor in as well as prevailing topography.
POP at just over 4 but seemed slower as we as a 2some followed several resort players who were definitely on vacation. On the plus side the views were great weather great until the last 5 holes when a 3 club wind blew in.
Staff really cool sent us off 40 minutes early.

I play this course at least two times when on the Big Island because it is different (2500 ft. above sea level) and I love the layout. It 10 degrees cooler up here and the views are great. I was first out and they were rolling the greens so they were perfect! They are working on the fairways and they need to. This is the worst part about this course. Played 12/10 and 14/2018 and when I come back next year I will play it again.

They've been doing fairway and lake renovation but it's clear that the fairways will never be great...too many bear dirt spots and grass that looks more like weeds spread throughout. The staff is quite friendly and some of the holes have really nice views but for my vacation dollars, I'd rather play elsewhere. Disappointed because all we've ever heard about is how great this course is. Hopefully, their renovation work will improve the course but we won't be back.

Ok, I lied it's 30 minutes from Waikoloa Village but worth the drive anyway. Shot 44 on the front :( and 37 on the back :). I don't know who showed up to play the back but I like him.

I love this course! Played on 12/5. It is like no other course on the island. Up about 2500 to 3000 ft. with views of Maui and Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. The course is in great shape and more then worth the drive up the hill (about 20 minutes) and about half of the courses down the hill. Play it, is a Dye design and loads of fun. I going back tomorrow.

Pretty typical Big Island conditions this trip. Tees shaggy and some level spots, Fairways surprisingly nice, greens splotchy but roll pretty well and hold most approach shots, Bunkers need some love. Rough can be brutal.

Big wildlife show on most holes. Hundreds of sheep, turkey and geese (Nene in Hawaiian) wandering around, but not really hurting anything, just noisy at times.

Look for print coupons or on-line deals, they are out there.
