Played Wed 9/4, 7:15 tee time, 2 some, with some waiting, played in under 4 hrs. course in pretty good muni shape. Greens are running a fast 9, mostly good... a lot of tamping down ball marks. Fairways are even and above average. A few soggy spots off the fairway. Not bad at all. the one bunker I landed it was really good. dense, but soft, if that makes sense. I don't get out here often.. it's a Dye brother creation, short from the tips (6100), not a ton of trouble, but enough to keep you thinking on half the holes. Had a good time. Punching next week, so plan accordingly

Played 7/7 Wed, 9am, walking 4some, 4:15 round. Course in decent muni shape. Greens running a slow 10, soft and spongy. The course a mix of dried out and overwatered/muddy, in an attempt to beat the upcoming triple digit weekend. Decent round of golf. Short track that plays 6100 from the tips, with a few monster long holes, but more shorter holes. Wide open links style with water in play on 4 holes. I dont mind playing here.

Just completed a round at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course, a municipal course about 15 minutes south of Sacramento. The course is well maintained, except for some bare spots in some fairways. The only negative is there is no Driving Range, only a net for hitting balls into. Not enough for me to get a good warm-up. The course is forgiving, but some some holes presents a challenge, especially the 17th hole, a Par 3 Island green. The clubhouse and pro shop is combined. The cart are a little old , but will get around the course with no problems. Only saw a Marshall once, and no snack cart available, on this monday. THis course is part of the Sacramento City owned courses, which includ Haggins Oak, Bing Maloney, and Willain Land Park.

Played Sunday 3/3, about 1pm. walked on as a single. We've had 2+ days of rain reprieve, and it was pretty nice out, so course more crowded than I expected. I just wanted to go hit balls and putt and chip, as it has been a while and I have a tournament coming up; and my course was closed for a private event. So I head out, paid $17 to walk, (cart path only) and played 5 holes until I hit a wait. Played 6-9 with some waiting. Went 10, then back to 2-5, then walked in. Standing water would be an understatement. Lots of low lying areas that are literal lakes. With more rain coming in this week, if you care about the conditions, you would need to wait a month after the last rains for those areas to come back. Otherwise, greens are rolling fine.. a bit on the slow end. Most of the fairways are playable, except for the new lakes that you have to avoid. If you just want a golf experience, it's not too bad.

This was the last/bonus round today. Got there around 4:00 and it wasn't too busy out. Just some scattered groups (mostly twosomes/singles) on the course. Ultimately finished in about a 2:20 pace. $23... Continue »

This was the last/bonus round today. Got there around 4:00 and it wasn't too busy out. Just some scattered groups (mostly twosomes/singles) on the course. Ultimately finished in about a 2:20 pace. $23 twilight rate with a cart. Course conditions were okay, with things playing better than it looked with the grass pretty dappled green/brown. Tee boxes fine. Fairways adequate. On the thin side, but generous roll-out and I usually had a pretty decent lie. Rough decent. Bunkers good. Greens good. A little bumpy late in the day, but fully healed from aeration and in nice shape overall. This is a really, really fun muni course! It was designed by Perry Dye and has a lot of the Dye family hallmarks (mounds, moguls, water hazards, railroad ties, collection areas, etc.). There's even a mini Sawgrass island green 17th, but it's only about 100 yards and much less intimidating. The fun part is the layout is short. Par-71. Played the blue tees at around only 5,700 yards. It's a Dye-type design, but it's one where you can really score well. Target golf, but you may not need driver off of many tees and you're hitting shorter clubs into the well-protected greens. I really enjoyed this course and would recommend it as a Sacramento value gem.

Course was in OK shape. Typically, I expect Sacramento courses to be greener than Bartley was today. Could be due to light rain season. Some uneven tee boxes, as well as some dead spots throughout the course. Greens were in pretty good shape, rolled true and were smooth with limited ball marks. Sand was what you expect for a city course, not the best, but still able to get out of the trap cleanly. Overall it was a 6./10.

Bartley a short, tight track. Great for walking and precise hitters off the tee. Lots of scoring opportunities here. I will be back soon.

Was traveling up north to play in my college reunion tournament with a good friend but we stopped off along the way to play Bartley. The course was recommended to me from some friends in Sac but noticed it was not on the GK list. Shot Johnny GK a note to find out why it wasn’t there and he put it back on. Couldn’t figure out why it was off but originally thought it had closed. Well it’s definitely not closed. Good size crowd on Sunday 5/28 for a holiday weekend. Got a $49 for 2 with cart on Golf Moose. Got there a bit early for our 12:30 tee time but the starter sent us right to the tee. Playing at a leisurely rate we waited on no one. Back 9 slowed up a bit as we finally caught up with a foursome on 11 but POP was just about 3:45. The course sits right next to the Sacramento River but there are no views of it. It is in pretty good condition. The fairways are in good shape. No bad lies out there at all. Layout is fun. Most straight away holes but there are some dog legs but water does come into play on a couple of holes. The course is flat but what gives this course character are the many moguls that line most of the fairways. Also, #17 is an island green, short par 3 which is their signature hole I’m sure. We played it about 80 yards. There are very few bunkers out there. I counted 6 bunkers for the course. Those that are out there looked to be in good shape. The greens are poa annua and not very fast but rolled true. Got slower as the afternoon progressed but are in nice shape. The course is not real long. 6158 yards from the gold tees and 5788 from the blues. I wouldn’t call this course real difficult but it does have a fun layout. I also wouldn’t make it on my list to play again but that shouldn’t discourage anyone from playing here as my friend thoroughly enjoyed it.
