Played Darkhorse over the Memorial Day weekend. I love the layout of this course -- a lot of variation in the holes and enough choices to make you think about where you want to be. Course was generally in good shape -- they had vericut and sanded the greens last week bu they still rolled true. Can't wait to play this again,

Played 5/24/09. One of the best courses there is as far as the design and natural beauty goes. The layout of this course is amazing. Just about every hole is memorable. Has some great short risk/reward par 4's. I have played many courses in the south carolina area where there are many great courses and this ranks right up there with the best of those. Conditions were good but not great. That is the only complaint I would have about this awesome course. For the price there is not a better course anywhere that I know about.

Walked on here Sunday afternoon and teed off a 1:15ish and finished a little less than 5 hrs. Got a coupon to play for $59 and for this price this is an incredible golf course. Now I know why Golf Magazine rated this one of the best in CA to play. I played the copper tees (one from the tips) and after about 14 holes I felt like I had already played a full round. I thought this course was very challenging required a lot of different shots during my round. I thought it was going to be a long day when I was putting for birdie on the first hole only to end up with a double bogey, yes I 4 putted this hole. Should have spent a little more time on the practice green b/c these greens are extremely quick. I thought everything else was top notch, fairways, customer service, etc. We did see 3 baby rattlers here (one was actually alive before someone in our group killed it), kind of scary b/c I certainly did not expect this here. Overall I thought this was a fabulous experience and cannot say enough good things about this golf course.

Course conditions were nice (July 25 & 26). The layout, however, is stunning. Nearly every hole is memorable. The prior review stating that it is similar to Rustic Canyon is true in that both courses blend nicely into their surroundings. But unlike Rustic Canyon, which is relatively flat, Darkhorse has dramatic elevation changes, forced carries, etc. There are few courses that are as scenic and well-designed as Darkhorse. It is a must-play if you are in the area.

Greens had too many ballmarks. Not cool. Tees and fairways are good.

This course is in great condition, tee to green. Greens quick enough for me, probably a true 8. Played on Memorial Day 5/26. Guess the course was crowded by NorCal standards, but still finished in just over four hours.

Amazing layout, very similar to rustic canyon in North LA/South Ventura Area especially with regards to the bunkering and the natural unfettered feel of the design. Almost as if the course was already there and they just needed to roll the greens and flatten a few spots for tee areas.

I will be back and can't wait. Great staff. Amazing course. I wish I lived up north whenever I play up there. Course rating should be much higher. Darkhorse is rated by nearly every golf magazine as top 100 you can play every year....go see for yourself.

We ventured out of the valley yesterday to escape the North wind. The friendly staff at Darkhorse promptly turned us loose before a local high school match. The course was lush, greens hard and fast, just a spectacular afternoon with a slight breeze.

The course will be undergoing aeriation this Mon.(4/13) The greens need it, 11 on the stimp! If you want to understand what the guys in Georgia are putting on, get up there this weekend. It is beautiful!
