Played sunday 7/14, 9am tee time, 5 hr round. Pleasant day that turned hot the last hour. Mild wind, 1/2-1 club at times. Course in below average muni shape. Playable for sure, but you are settling a lot. Greens are grainy, running fast 8 against the grain, slow 10 downgrain. Soft and bumpy. Fairways are littered with a crabgrass of some kind... we were bumping in the fairway. Bunkers are below average... playable, but rarely raked and lots of rocks. Lots of geese, but the goose droppings seemed to be in less playable areas. Interesting layout... water hazards and ravines you have to carry. A few short layup holes due to the water. Probably only 1 cart girl for the 2 courses, cuz we only saw here twice. It would be an excellent course if they maintained it... Had a good time as always, but probably won't make the drive out by choice or if I got a deal.

Played mid-morning tee time at the non-resident senior rate of $50 with cart. Joined a friend that I had reconnected with recently for an enjoyable round and conversation(s). Checking the GK reviews noted may last visit was 2018.
Tee'd off on time as a three-some and finished the front 9 quickly where the local resident dropped off and drove home. Total POP 4:10.
Sun City Lincoln was built as an over 55 community in the early 2000's it has 36 holes with the Orchard course the less reputed to the Hills.
Greens were great shape rolling medium speed with few ball marks or other blemishes.
Bunkers decent maintained with decent sand coverage.
Rough variable, what you'd expect.
On to the fairways and "dallis" grass which I mentioned to my buddy would be my theme of the review. The local mentioned it and defined it for us. I thought it was crabgrass but there is an annual and perennial distinction.
It is still prevalent in the fairways and is a nuisance especially the residents. The local rule in his men's group is free relief because it can cause injury. I don't take deep divots and we played the ball down. It has been there for a long time and doesn't appear to be an issue being addressed by maintenance.
The greens in good shape better than most in the area in this $ range.
Natural grass practice range also a plus. The bev cart was out making the loop.
It is a busy facility with many retirees in the community that allows for and has many residents using their own modified carts for play and transportation to and from the courses and to the local shopping. Many have license plates and higher speed modifications for this purpose. Many of the local area streets have cart lanes.
Fun and I'd do it again at the right time and rate. Did not visit the restaurant today, has been good when I have.

Course in this condition would appear to ready to be sold or close. As a Lincoln Hills resident this is a total disgrace. Rate it a zero.

5/11/2018 8am. Very good shape in the spring conditions. Greens good med/fast. Bunkers good tee boxes average no complaints. Played with a local resident for $44 with a cart. Pace of play was great. We were 4 and had a local behind us as a single. He didn't want to play thru was looking for balls last check he had over 40 but a few bloody spots on his legs from the thorns.

That said a few places to carry your shot required at the LH Orchard course and a few places you don't want to go with the other side of the fairway houses or on both sides but don't come into play. At least not for me this day. :)

Got done early then the north winds came up to over 20mph later.

Got together with some No Cal friends on a Friday morning 10:30 and 10:37 tee times. When we arrived at the course, the sun was out and thought it was going to be beautiful but the fog rolled in and made it pretty cold. Used a $49 for 2 Golf Moose voucher. Check in was easy enough and we loaded the carts and off we went. Having never played here, the starter drove us to the tee and gave us a brief overview. This really helped so nice job. 90 degree rules which was great

Fairways were generous and surprisingly in pretty good shape despite the winter weather. Wide fairways with good lies helped with some of my friends who don’t play a lot. Was only one bunker and it was fine and I heard of no complaints from the others. The rough was lush green but not difficult to get out of. Greens were pretty nice. Not real fast but rolled nicely.

I really enjoyed playing here. The fairways wind through Sun City homes, through some marsh areas and there are a couple of neat holes. Even though the fairways are generous, there are some bunkers strategically placed in the middle so some thought off of the tee is needed. I wouldn’t call this course easy as my friend did but it is a fun layout. The only drawback on this day was the cold weather but want to come back and play again. Really nice folks in the restaurant and the food was good as well as we stopped in after to have a bite.

Just a quick update on conditions - Course is in pretty good shape. Bunkers are a little hit and miss. Some have plenty of sand others a little firm. Greens look like they may have aerated 3-4 weeks ago, but rolling very nicely. I played a week ago, so I'm sure they are only better now. Medium speed with very few divots. There is a deal on golfmoose $49 for two players including cart. An extra $10 per player on the weekend. Valid 7 days a week with no time restrictions. Well worth the fee. There are a few tee shots that are hard to judge, but otherwise it's a fun course and I recommend it.

Played Wed 7/6, 11am tee time, teed off right at 11. 2some, playing behind a 3some in 3:50. $29 Wild Wed green fee, incl cart. The course is in decent shape. Aside from some water starved areas, which did not affect play, it's a very playable course. The greens, however, were very slow, and inconsistent in speed. They were mostly soft and spongy. I was never able to feel comfortable with the speeds. the greens are mostly huge with a bit of undulations. The course itself is a wonderful track with a variety of shots, elevation changes, and forced carries. The practice facility is vast and nice... nice putting green and a great chipping/bunker area. Cart girl came around twice and was very pleasant. For $29, I will never let the conditions affect my enjoyment.. but the greens were inconsistent. It is a 50 min drive for me, so not somewhere I'd play regularly. But if I was within a 20 min drive, it would be somewhere in my rotation.

Greens inconsistent from hole to hole and overall appear to need some work to get them to good playing condition. The rough is too long causing excess time to find balls that are only a short way off the fairway. Just plain stupid to allow rough this long as it kills pace of play. Why some courses just never seem to learn this is puzzling. The same conditions apply to the other course -- The Hills -- at this location.

Played both Lincoln Hills courses today. Started on Orchard with a 7:29 tee time ($39.99), but there was an hour frost delay. I let the starter know I had another tee time on the other course later in the morning and he worked with me to make sure I was in the lead group of a mini-shotgun start at 8:30. I started on hole #3. He did pair me with two other singles, but I broke off ahead of them on the back nine to make up for lost time and meet up with my brother for the second round on the Hills course. Unfortunately, when I went to play holes 1 and 2, there were foursomes stacked up on the fairway and tees. Luckily, after we finished the afternoon round on Hills, there was ample time and I was able to play holes 1 and 2 on Orchard then. There's been a lot of rain here recently, which is both good and bad for these courses. The good is that they look beautiful, very lush and green. The bad is that everything is shaggy and there are a lot of mushy spots, too. No roll-out on fairways, but the lies were almost always nice and fluffy. The rough is thick and brutal, and you really had to keep your eye on the ball to keep from losing it once it settled in. Still, I'd always prefer to have too much grass rather than not enough (especially in winter), so the shagginess is just a minor quibble. The bunkers were kind of a mess. I can tell they are normally pretty nice when not ravaged by so much rain, though there were a ton of footprints in all of them and that is disappointing. Greens were nice and rolling at medium speeds, but again too many unrepaired marks. Sad. I enjoyed both courses a lot, but Hills more than Orchard. Both have a similar out and back layout winding through the large Sun City community, so you only come back to the clubhouse after 18. There are a handful of really cool holes on Orchard playing in the marshy area, but then there are some really wide open and boring ones, too. Overall, it's a pretty forgiving layout. Orchard is a little longer than Hills. Reminded me at times of Riverlakes Ranch in Bakersfield.
