Played early 6/13/20 cool clear 54-59 degrees light winds in the Sierra foothills. We were heading for 2nd tee box and players crossing to the 9th tee had the 6:30am time. Our POP was 4.5 hrs a little slower than expected. Last played (reviewed) here in January. Trying to keep my game in shape for a delayed but now crucially interesting upcoming GK15 match.
The Ridge has been open and now is moving to Phase III. Happy days!

Course is in excellent condition tee to green with the exception of the bunkers which are usually good most visits. Greens excellent and no three putts is a good day here. Didn't lose a ball which is also unusual for me not that I didn't hit it in the junk a few times just got lucky.

Best news is lifting of restrictions and there are rakes back out and shared carts and beverage cart. Basically return to the "good ole' days"?!!!

Joined with a couple strangers (new friends) from the local area who visit the course occasionally. Fun to here their unsolicited comments on how the track plays. "the greens always eat me up." One guy had the misfortune of two buried bunker lies. The bunkers would/will? be dramatically improved with a machine grooming and edge prep. Then the course condition would rate a 8.5+ it's nice right now otherwise.

Busy too tried to book for next Sunday and nothing available for two-some until after 11. Checked to verify on-line when I got home and then it dawned on me. Fathers day... Anyway parking lot full when we left after the round. Bar was open at the turn and I needed a cool one to enjoy for the back 9.

In comparison to my round earlier this week at a similar quality course in a different market (Ridge Creek Dinuba) I'd give the edge to this Ridge because of better tee boxes level & grass growth. minor diff imo
Greens Dinuba are bigger less undulations. Auburn larger swales and bigger breaks. Enjoy both.

Highly recommend.

Played early 1/5/2020 46-55 degrees sunny skies little wind. The winter condition temperature created some ground fog that lifted quickly warming things up, dew left damp conditions most of the round. The fog was at the green on the par 5 second hole when we teed off the elevated tee. It moved uphill enveloping us at our drives then dissipated when we got to the green. That was different. The course is in excellent conditions with a few wet spots. Nothing that is unusual for the season. Celebrating twenty years and was built to drain well particularly the greens. Tee boxes level. Rough a manageable thickness. We played winter rules clean your ball if necessary for mud which happened ten or more times. Roll out slowed but not stopped by the wet grasses. Bunkers are settling a bit with ample sand. Rolling back into one on the 13th my ball track uncovered an orange ball inches from mine not visible until my ball rolled over it. Took me two to extract from this one. 1st fat 2nd perfect. They should continue to improve. They have cleared brush and debris in many areas. This day I noticed the thorns behind the 13th tee box removed revealing some native rocks. Aesthetically pleasing here but in another area the clean-up allowed me opportunity to get back in play rather than a lateral drop. Now to the greens. The "highlight" of the course so to say. If you like firm and fast which this time of year gives the course the opportunity to provide. They are all of that. Above the hole had to be respected with a very defensive small stroke. on the 7th I chipped up rolled back to the front edge (20Ft) putted up to 3ft. My opponent in tight 6 ft L to R semi-side hill putt hit too firm goes all the way down where I was. His putt back up not enough rolled back to his feet. Par opportunity to a triple! That's what we call the welcome to the Ridge putting. When the challenging greens are this good and rolling you'll have your skills tested. Only had to get faster as the day went and sun dried surface completely. 9 of 10 I've done 8 of the last 10 reviews here. Continue to recommend.

Played early 11/24 The course is in good to very good condition.
The greens are almost completely back from the early November aeration. A few holes visible in spots, smooth and medium to med-fast. The green complexes are challenging as they are interesting. Don't hit many from long range (150+) but those hold ok. Need spin to control the shorter wedges, chips well, or fine touch and judge of break.

Fairways well kept tight lies, rough manageable, and most bunkers in better than average shape. They have done some maintenance on the course fringes (removing thorny thicket) and water hazards (cat tails) which is not only pleasing visually, but also gives a chance at finding ball or recovery shot possiblities.

I was in some unusual places driving the ball. (15th fairway on the fourth hole / near 12th tee box on par 5 15th) But somehow managed good recovery shots. Not the course management I'd recommend for a low score but interesting I was able to get back in play. Always have a fun round at the Ridge. The beverage cart was out on the 17th working backwards. Staff friendly well stocked pro shop.

This is a gorgeous course routed through an oak woodland laid across a broad west-facing slope just getting into the foothills east of Sacramento. Played the first round of my golf weekend with an old Vegas work buddy on Friday, 11/8/19, at 1115 am on a warm, sunny day with almost no wind. Green fairways were strikingly routed between the oaks and straw-colored rough, lots of elevation change in some holes and across the property, and pretty uncrowded for a Friday early afternoon. Many elevated greens and some narrow hitting lanes make for a challenging yet exhilarating venue. BUT THEY DIDN”T TELL US THE GREENS HAD BEEN PUNCHED AND SANDED!! We booked online and no info provided there. The course apparently didn’t notify Greenskeeper.org because no mention on the GK site. No word from the counter guy when we checked in. All greens had been punched and sanded around Nov 4-5 after cutting them down to a nub. Many unfilled punch holes and all the greens were stupid fast like putting on a billiard table. Or linoleum. No way to control downhill putts as we often got rollouts of 10-15 feet, and many of the greens are already so steeply sloped that many pin locations were almost impossible to access. Other than the greens, conditions were good. Fairway coverage was good with lies ranging from lush to tight. Rough along the fairways was playable at about 2 inches – further out it was a crapshoot with bare dirt, bark, trees and wild grass, etc. I was in 3 greenside traps and conditions were good, one a little thin and the other 2 with a nice sand layer. Tees had also been punched and sanded and were a little fuzzy, with several sloping behind a right-handed golfer. No yardage book available, but the interactive GPS by GPS Industries was very nice. This seems to be really late in the season for green aeration. Maybe because of the altitude here (1,500 ft). Without the aeration I would recommend the course enthusiastically. Didn't rate the course because of the punched greens.

Played 4/20 early out. Got out on time despite the call-out of the pro shop opener. The pro was quick to rectify and get the groups out in orderly fashion.

Played 4/20 early out. Got out on time despite the call-out of the pro shop opener. The pro was quick to rectify and get the groups out in orderly fashion.
Pace of play great as we had only a single in front of us. We set our own brisk pace as this was the first of two rounds for the day. Weather was cool and breezy partly cloudy. Course conditions overall good to real good. The greens had been aerated I'd say 10 or more days ago with only slight evidence of that. All grown in with the holes almost invisible most places. Green speed a bit slower than the usual speed here. That made shots hold better. But you had to give it a rap rather than feather putts therefore less severe breaks.
They have done the winter maintenance on the edges of the holes and the wet areas. With the trees now leaving out and the native grasses lush the holes are framed with contrasting green hues and looking really nice.
Warm sunny weather this week should get the course in premier shape in short order. They have increased green fees and it can be justified I suppose by the course conditions. A pleasure to play and a contrast to Darkhorse GC (our second round) is really evident as my review of that venue will reveal.

Course in good / better than good shape. Fairways rolling out. Greens had been small spiked with small tines and sanded lightly awhile back but no effect on putting today and will only improve from here for the winter season as they become quicker and smoother if memory serves correctly. (this review is my 6th of 7 most recent) Hopefully not to much repetition but to give GKers the "know before you go" ;)

Good putting surfaces fairways rolling bunkers good and weather for mid Nov warm (40's to 60's) sunny and dry.

Service great Beverage cart out on the 13th hole. All good recommend!

Greens held some overnight moisture but were fresh cut and rolling true med/med fast. Holding iron shots struck well. Later in day I'm sure they dried out to med fast.
Being a mid week holiday it was busier than usual Wednesday tee sheet I'm sure. We were moving right along front 9 made turn and a 4-some is putting on 10th green. We decide to get a beverage (couldn't it was closed?) and before we get back tee another 4 some teeing off. We skip 10th hole drive thru par 5 11th and two other 4 somes get back to our "spot" on 12th tee par 3. Play through to 16 (par4) play this hole twice and par 3 17th twice to get our "18 holes"
Asking the pro about this policy when we made the turn and found the inside restaurant closed. Staff stated "it's busy, you'll play faster on back 9." ??? following three 4-somes as a 2-some?
We worked it out ourselves but this is NOT the normal at the Ridge. I like to play so much.

5/10/18 noon Course in great shape all around, with the exception of a damp bunker or two. Leveling and reseeding a few tee boxes and with the good spring weather upcoming 7-10 days it will only get better.

The rough is manageable, but the outskirts off the edges are tough full of tall grass and weeds. Your ball goes there it's a goner 95%. But if your like me you can hit it past the junk in some circumstances and find it one tee box over on two occassions I accomplished this.

In Auburn CA you have the Ridge, Auburn Valley and Darkhorse locally. and I'd rank them in that order right now.

Out at 6:55 AM after a couple of days of heavy rain. The course has drained relatively well and the maintenance crews had already done the greens. I was impressed. This course presents various challenges that need to be carefully managed: traps, water, sloping and false front greens, and overhanging trees. Carts have GPS. Highly recommended. The only thing missing was a friendly welcome from the clubhouse staff.
