Found a tee time Saturday for early Sunday. Wasn't there early in the week. Possibly due the the Tuesday aeration of the putting surfaces as well as many green fringe areas.
Slow bumpy un-mowed surfaces. Take a quick look and bang it with some topspin.
The rough was thick as well and cuttings left behind from mowers in a few areas. Active mowing on Sunday not usually seen here.
Overall course is coming into it's own and a couple weeks for the greens and the other areas through the green to grow and the course will be great shape
The green fee deals I so enjoy will be hard if any to come by for prime weekend times.
You know from my other reviews I'm a big fan of this course. It checks all the boxes.

Frost delayed until 9am mini-shotgun: hole 6 start for us lead-off. The clear calm overnight continued with sunny skies 38-53 degrees POP finishing in 4.5 hrs.
Until our unusual turn from the 18th to #1 when we had 5 holes to go the pace was as we wanted as a two-some. From there mixed in with tee times pace slowed. Staff did there best, however when we finished and turned back to clubhouse there were three groups waiting on #2 tee box par 5.
Great conditions overall and the greens excellent. Bunkers groomed and nice coverage and depth. Made a double sandy par on the par 5 16th. Up and down from greenside on 9.
Fairways good a few thin spots as well as in the rough. Beverage cart was spot on to be waiting to serve us after a birdie by my friend on #8 and was by a few more times after.
Busy place on Sunday and the conditions justify it.

The usual early tee time and no frost quickly warming up Sunday round. Course is in great winter shape. A few bare thin spots and a few wet spots in fairways. Bunkers a bit hard and thin but good lies and playable.
Today it was all about the greens. Faster than the undulations deserve and pin placements that would challenge everyone. 7th hole we all had putts from 3 feet or less that rolled backwards instead of stopping near hole. One went in. One from above the hole ended up being 6 feet past. Fastest and toughest I have experienced in awhile.
Dry weather predicted for the rest of the month.
Making a tee time now to try them again. It's just fun?!

Had the first out tee time for the year. With a 3.5 hour frost delay teed off at 11 on number 9 mini-shotgun. The course called the day before and advised us of the expected delay. They adjusted the rate to a flat $50 for anyone and included a free beverage ticket too. Bloody Mary's were great. The call and rate adjustment was noticed and much appreciated.

2 hours for the first 10 holes then slowed on the first tee with players with 1pm times. Course is in great condition considering the weather last week. Less than 10 miles away a foot of more of snow fell and some still lingering there and many homes without power still.
There are some wet spots. CPO and some muddy areas. Bunkers some had standing water all firm not machine worked. Consider it winter conditions through the green.
The greens rolled well expected not as quick as usual but good speed.

Overall good time. Joined by a player from Reno on the back 9. He was warming up and on his way to Bandon Dunes. Another from Idaho visiting got in a round where his home state is mostly frozen. All agreed it was a good day and no wind helped make it warm as 45 degree in the sun can be.
No birdies, two three putt bogies added unwanted strokes to the score.

First out Sunday before the sun hit the horizon. Found tee time through internet wasn't on the club's site. I asked in pro shop about it. He didn't know why. Anyway good rate and the carts are updated and have accurate GPS.
Greens running true and firm on the quicker side which makes it fun to putt here.
Fairways and rough are firm and fast some brown thin spots growing in over-seeded. Rain in forecast should fill-in.
Bunkers ok but some wet. Mostly maintained. Just adjust accordingly.
Always a fun recommend for The Ridge.
Offered a GK card to our playing friend Doug at end of round.
He said he knew about GK, uses site to check course maintenance / conditions!

Great track in great condition. They watered extra heavily overnight I'd guess for the expected heat wave coming. Not too wet or soft only in a few drainage areas. Mostly green good coverage edge to edge. Greens excellent fast and fair not too firm. Bunkers machine worked some wet which I prefer to beach depth no bottom.

Under Troon management now I noticed. Basically same friendly staff. Pro Shawn Kelly has been there as long as the course. NCGA instruction article Winter 2021 Vol 41 #1 worth a look in which he was featured with Jeff Babineau.

Course all around in great shape all areas. A few fairways have patches of brown and maybe a soft spot or two. Bunkers well kept machine manicured firm with 3/4" fluff. Greens have been verticut but are rolling true and very quickly. Making it a very enjoyable day rolling the putts.
Everything else great bev cart out beer cold.
Always thumbs up.

Early out Sunday cool 42 degrees mostly sunny to a pleasant sunny back 9. The transition to winter conditions continues. The Ridge is always a challenge (see michaelko review) and is in great shape with the exception of a few wet fairway areas and a few tee boxes being reseeded which were closed. (no effect on white tee yardage) mostly affecting the blue tees moving them up.
The greens have been small tine punched and sanded probably ten days ago or so. Almost healed and will by next weekend I'd expect. 8th green had a indentation line and sand running across it another had the same track near an edge not in play. Bunkers machined worked and first one in the ones I visited. No rakes out.
Other than check-in didn't go into CH and didn't feel uncomfortable in anyway with masks interactions with staff or other players. Covid protocols being followed as would be prudent in most circumstances. Bev cart out for the day and met at the usual spot on 16th hole starting beverage / food service.
Always just fun at The RIDGE recommend.

Played Wed 10/7. 10 am tee time, 4:20 round. Played here on a golfmoose deal. Course is in amazing shape. It's a challenging layout, hilly, with plenty of hazards and bunkers. Seemed like more uphill holes than downhill... like 2-3 clubs uphill. Don't choose tees just on the yardage. Greens big and undulating. FAST... like a fast 11, slow 12. Definitely the fastest greens I've played all year, including my private club, including Monterrey penuts ula. And very true. I lost a few strokes on the greens, and a few strokes misclubbing due to the elevation misjudge. Definitely takes a few times playing to get comfortable. Drink cart came around a few times. For $40, it's a steal. As far as Covid precautions: I was disappointed. I forgot I was going to Placer County, which is basically defying state orders. No employees wearing masks, and indoor masks are 'recommended'. At least they have dividers on the carts, which surprisingly felt from a safety standpoint, but I wouldn't ride with a complete stranger or someone I didn't trust. No rakes and foam noodles in the cups. I will not be returning to Placer county until things are more settled.
