Played the Ridge this morning. Greens were rolling good and the fairways were in good condition. Some of the fairways were a little wet but with the extreme heat i would understand. The only negative i have was that 9 hl's took 2.5 hrs as we had a 2some and 4some in front of us. The pro shop even said they weren't busy.

Other than that the course was in very good shape. Tough course though playing from the tips

Played on July 4th in the afternoon. They have a $25 twilight rate after 4pm that is hard to beat. The course was in great condition all-around. I played from the back tees as it's around 6800-yards and definitely plays to all of that yardage or probably more with the elevation changes. The greens were hard but still receptive to good shots; however this my first time on the course, and if that's the case--you can definitely be left with some funky putts if you hit the wrong tier/side of the green. #2 and #9 are two monster par-5's that both play well over 550 yards.

The only critique I have of the course design is that there aren't too many good birdie opportunities on the course unless you knock one close on accident. I'm a decent golfer and shot 79, but couldn't find a birdie on the course. The par-5's are unreachable and tough to even get pars on and the "short" par-4's (under 400 yards) are very tough with little room to hit a big drive on.

For the value, this is a must play if you don't mind spending $10 on gas getting out and back to Auburn.

Played Sunday 6/24, 1pm tee time; 4:45 round. A visually stunning course rolling through the foothills; very challenging, but fair track with many elevation changes, water in play on several holes, overall need to be accurate off the tee. Many uneven lies in the fairway; if your first time playing, you will want a GPS with hazard features, because there are many situations you will need to know yardages. Greens were in great shape, firm and true and FAST. Several greens were tiered, so you needed to hit the right section of the green, and if you short side yourself, you won't have an easy putt coming back. On the negative, no one who plays here takes care of the course. Severe divot damage all over the course, rarely are bunkers raked, i'm actually shocked the greens are in as good shape as they are looking at the fairways. I would estimate on every hole I saw about15-20 unfilled divots in the fairway, sometimes more. And pace of play seemed slow... course is too challenging for most golfers, makes for slow play. Overall, a decent round, nice course, decent but disappointing shape, great greens, very challenging, but mentally draining. I wouldn't play here very often, as I am not into torture. And the course conditions would make me think twice, but probably wouldn't stop me... and the price is fair. But I would recommend it to anyone looking for a more challenging round in the North Sacramento area.

Played this course last weekend and it was in pretty good shape. The greens could be rolled a little bit but overall I enjoyed a very challenging round of golf in its natural settings. I haven't played here in a few years but I do remember how challenging it is. My friend that I played with had never played here so I told him to get ready for a "beat down" because this course can wear you out.

The Ridge Golf Course is a well developed course laid out through the oak and rock formations common to the Sierra foothills. As this course is laid out on a hillside, the designers were not shy about taking advantage of continual elevation changes, from this I believe only the fittest walkers could walk this course. There are no homes on this course, the primary hazards are water and topographic disturbances such as rocks and shallow ravines. This course plays on the narrow side with no parallel fairway interplay and the greens are endeared with heavy contours which makes this a challenging course.

For early February, this course is in springtime condition - absolutely stunning bent green grass everywhere, not a sign of winter hibernation and no bare spots, everything was green and lush to an extreme. The physical maintenence is to be applauded, the tee boxes were almost perfectly level, the fairways were good with no bare spots, the rough was perfect and the greens were fast and true. The only two encounters with sand were OK, average sand with average depth so it should play pretty true.

Our threesome started at 1pm and concluded at 5:25, we moved well through the front nine but had to wait at each tee on virtually all holes back nine. We saw the cart girl twice, I think she quit around 3-3:30pm. I wouldn't rate this the most forgiving course, especially around the greens as the earlier mentioned contours in combination with the liberal application of sand traps make approach shots challenging. I can't say how much I enjoyed this course thanks to the conditions and challenge of the layout, I wish I knew how good this course was because this is easily a course worth playing regularly.

Played the Ridge after Winchester (and before Darkhorse). The layout of the Ridge is not as memorable as Winchester or Darkhorse, but its a good course with several great golf holes. And the conditions right now are good. In fact, the Ridge was in much better shape than Winchester and similar to the conditions at Darkhorse.

If you are in the Auburn area also try Darkhorse and Winchester. Winchester is semi private with tee times available on golfnow.com. In my opinion it is the best course in the Sacramento area, incredibly scenic. With Morgan Creek being 2nd and Darkhorse 3rd.
