Very rarely am I completely blown away by a course. Turtle Bay was the first. This was the second time. What a facility... pristine conditions, fantastic layout, amazing deal to get on. Nothing was bad about this round. This is a must-play golf course and would recommend it to anyone. Greens were quick and fantastic to putt. Fairways and rough were excellent throughout. Tee boxes were pristine. Even the bunkers were amazing. Maybe the only complaint I could come up with would be the POP, but I got to enjoy the course more so even that wasn't a negative. Can't wait to come back.

I got a great online twilight rate for a mid-afternoon tee time in October. I got the 18 holes in, finishing at dusk. What a beautiful setting, what a beautiful course. Course was in fine condition: tees, greens, fairways. I found many of the holes interesting, and found the course challenging but playable for players of differing skill levels. For the most part you could see what you were shooting at. That's important in a resort course where many people are playing once only. Service was tremendous and there are lots of nice touch amenities included. I look forward to coming back.

Played 12/28/15 10:30 POP 4 hrs $ 80 I always look forward to having a chance to get out here and play. Was worried about the temp. but it ended up being fine in the low 50's. Fairway's were perfectly lush and just a treat to play from. Rough was not too bad, just enough to make you not want to be in it. T's good and traps in great shape even with all the rain. Greens were great to excellent. Noticed a wonder or two, but were very receptive and had a great pace of medium fast. Maybe 10.5-11? Service is outstanding and the scenery beautiful. Definitely one of the best courses in the entire Sacramento area and a steal at $80 for the conditions & service.

Played twice in the past week. Once for a tournament, second with some friends. The course as usual is in pristine shape. The course, the staff, the practice facilities, restaurant, and the facility overall is top notch. Outside of the Monterey Peninsula, this is the top course in Northern California. As a tournament director, I would not hesitate to host a tournament here. The overall experience from the property to the service provided is top notch. The course is managed by Troon, and as usual, the service they provide is second to none. The carts are all new and include a USB port for charging your GPS, phone, or portable speaker so you can listen to 80's power ballads while you play. The course itself is set in the Capay Valley and is adjacent to Cache Creek Casino. It's a 75 minute drive from the East Bay, an hour from Napa, and 30 minutes from Sacramento. The course is competitive and fun for any golfer and plays from 7300 to 5400. Each hole has different sightlines and provides different views from throughout the valley from the 1st through the 18th. The carts come equipped with GPS finders, along with hole flyovers, and the ability to keep score. Depending on the weather, you are greeted after the round with a hot or cold towel to warm up or cool off. If you are going to play golf in Northern California, you need to add this course to your list.

This troon managed course is excellent. Everything is in great shape. The tee boxes are level, fairways are beautiful and greens are rolling true. We saw 4 other groups on the course today and still saw the beverage cart every 3 holes. That's impressive looping. This course never disappoints. It's hard to write anything new because it's so consistently good every time out. Highly recommend.

This is probably one of the best courses in the Northern California. You pay the public course price and play on an elite course like a country club. Yocha Dehe offers an elite and pristine course settled within rolling hills, trees, and creeks. The course is in great shape and the service is superb. Valet staff will overwhelm you with undivided attention the minute you arrive the parking lot. They treat everyone like a VIP. Just remember to bring lots of change for tips.

The course is beautiful and the driving range offers free balls for every player. There are also free bottle water in refrigerators and rest rooms through out the course. The valet staff will clean your clubs hand you a hot/cold towel after you finish the round. What treat!

Number 1 hole is probably the most memorable hole. You tee off from a tee box 150 feet off the fairway on a tough par 4. What a view from the top! Number 15 is the most challenging par 4 hole to make birdie. You have to hit the ball to the left side of the fairway. It is narrow and there is a creek in the middle of the fairway. The right side of the fairway is wider but it is not easy to reach the green in 2. Most holes are not easy to play and there are always water nearby. Greens are very fast and uneven.

Overall, this is a fantastic course to experience.

Made it a point to get over to YDH while visiting the grandkids in Rocklin, NE of Sacramento on Thursday, 2/5/15, with a noon tee time booked on the course site for $70. I'd heard from other GKers and read reviews that really talked up the place. Turns out that just looking at the map doesn't give you a good sense of HOW LONG it takes to get to this place, which is definitely in the MON somewhere NW of Sacramento. Once you take the freeway to Woodland (easy) you get on these winding, 2-lane roads through small towns, 25 mph speed zones, constant traffic, and other unhappiness (hard). Then you round a bend in the road and there's this huge casino building and parking structure! Kind of like going to Pala Casino, but worse. The golf course is way round in back. And then you get to the course and it's heaven! Set in a quiet river valley surrounded by rolling hills covered with oak trees. The river runs across the top side of the course and is a soothing background sound when flowing. Small vineyard plots are scattered around the course. There are no houses, freeways, airplanes, or whatever. There's just the quiet, the gentle breezes, the soothing landscapes, and a gorgeous golf course, probably one of the three or four best-conditioned courses I've ever played. Service was primo from the time I drove up. The course was uncrowded so every guest was able to get full attention. From the bag drop to the pro shop to the starter, everyone took the time to tell me what my options and benefits were, where facilities were located, and how my pre-round would progress. I wanted to get out early to get back for my granddaughter's dance program - no problem moving me up to play with a twosome at 11:20. Huge, very attractive practice area (on mats today) with nice Callaway balls. I wasn't able to get to the putting green before we went off, but got on-course to find they had sanded/topdressed the greens yesterday. Carts are very high-end and comfortable with soft cloth seats. Two bottles of water are in the cart and chilled bottles are provided every 3 holes! There was a very good GPS system in the cart, and many sprinkler heads are marked, as well as the presence of yardage plates at 250, 200, etc. The carts also had a plaque with tips to speed play posted above the bag rack - good positioning and useful tips. [Only complaint - no sand/seed refills are available other than on #10 tee, and the roving marshal didn't have any, so we weren't able to fill as many divots as we might.] Despite sanding, greens were in wonderful condition - I rated them an 8 only because they had been sanded. They were pretty firm and didn't fully hold shots, but rolled well at medium-fast speed. Greens showed a lot of spike marks - not sure if this was due to the grass type or the groups in front of us dragging their feet and doing the hula. Only a few scattered ballmarks on most holes. Fairways were like carpets and provided perfect lies all day. The course uses the "entry-exit gate" system that I think minimizes cart damage as players enter and exit the fairway. Only one hole today was path-only - part of #10. Rough was consistently cut at about 1 to 2 inches and was OK to play from. Tees were level, adequate area was provided for hitting, and the markers were all up on the front of the appropriate boxes. Sand was the best I've seen in a long time - great coverage, plenty of playing depth, fluffy and not packed. We had a couple of buried sand shots in the faces of bunkers where we had to dig to identify the ball. Only the softness of the sand made exiting the bunkers difficult - I struggled to be able to step out without causing big gouges that had to be raked, even when exiting from low points in the bunkers. This was a wonderful experience throughout and I wish I lived close enough to play here regularly. Highly recommended.
