You don't get many experiences better than this one. I played this course on a twilight rate for $30, including cart. This course is in Napa Valley, literally in the vineyards. There are views of the surrounding hills, valley and vineyards from every tee box. The course is a fantastic layout which incorporates several holes from the old, private private Shakespeare Club, along with their renowned island green at the 6th. The real gem, though, is the view from the tee box on the 7th. This is a spot where you almost hope that play slows down in front of you. To linger here is bliss. You can see forever...all the valley before you. The pace this afternoon was leisurely, as you might expect, and my group made the turn to 16 at around 6:20 pm (we tee'd off at 3pm). After a couple of groups made the push and another called it a day (dinner in the valley?), we were the last group to come through on 17 and 18. Standing on the the tee box at 17 was one of those "how lucky am I..." moments, with the sun setting and a faint moon breaking over the vineyards. I just don't know of a better combination of golf setting, course layout and value around the bay area. If you do, let me know. The conditioning is superb and the greens are fair and true. There are multiple tee boxes with yardage ranging from 6,250 to 7,283. Something for everyone, from the serious to casual golfer. Throw in the 19th hole clubhouse patio and this twilight deal may just be the best on the planet. Without a doubt, this is one of the best public tracks in NoCal.
