I play 9 holes after work all the time (at) Foxtail North. I don't know what course "shebylo" was playing on 7/29. While it is a good challenge from the tips and the fairways are lush, the greens are just moon crater bumpy and piss-poor slow! This is typical for Foxtail this time of year as they struggle with poor soil conditions and warm weather. Their response to this is increasing the height of cut on the greens (Rio Vista anyone!?!) and over irrigating which renders them slow and bumpy. Combined with golfers who haven't fixed a ball mark on a green since the 20th century and you are left with some of the worst putting surfaces in Sonoma County. Oakmont West (which never gets any reviews on this site) is where I've been going lately after work. Fast, firm & SMOOTH! Foxtail is fun until you grab the flatstick and then the game becomes "luck of the bounce", which sucks.

Played Sat., 2/13/10 - 10:30 time. Course is super-saturated with water right now. Front nine had standing water on hillside slopes. Greens were good. Wait for this one to dry out

Played on Sunday, 10.12.08 @ 12:18 pm. Golf course was is pretty good condition. Having worked in golf course management in the past (Assistant Superintendent) for 6-7 years I can say with accuracy that the greens at Eagle Vines were running at 11+ on the Stimp. Easily an 11. While some might think greens this fast to be the mark of superior turfgrass conditioning, Eagle Vines just gets it all wrong. Greenspeed must coincide with undulation and the greens @ Eagle Vines have plenty (at times severe) of undulation. This combination of green speed and undulation renders the experience @ Eagle Vines a joke.
That is right, I said it. A JOKE. Or at least a ridiculous sham.
With everyone out on the course 4 putting each green our round took 6+ hourse. We teed off @ 12:30pm and finished almost in darkness @ 6:50 pm. The combination of 11+ stimp and a few ridiculous pin placements made for a crap round where you chatted with the group in front and behind on every tee.
The bright spot? At least the cart gal came around 6 or 7 times.
