Really well maintained course. Kinda pricey for a course with a portable building as the club house. Seriously, how long does it take to build a clubhouse? 3 years? Well its been over three years buddies and your price is high. Build it and they will still come, and be able to chill after a round with a couple of beers and you will make more money. Nicely maintained course though.

Played 6/17 twilight. Course pretty empty, fairways and tees outstanding as always. Some of the sand traps were verry firm, not what you would expect from this course. Greens have been airrated, putted verry slow, and were not reseptive. Should be back to normal in a couple of weeks. Look forward to returning.

I played here for the first time on 6/1 and loved it. This is a great course, in great condition. The greens are very, very true. This course would be much more fun the second time as some local knowledge would help. The fairways are extremely hard and the ball takes a huge bounce when it lands on the hard pan, so it's too easy to roll off the fairway into a hazard...even with a decent tee-shot. Still though, I'd really like to return!

Played this morning. Virtually every area of the course is in good condition. The only exception is the greens. They still rolled fairly quick and fairly smooth, and I don't know if there's a fungus growing or not, but most of the greens were fairly splotchy. I've seen it better and quicker here. Still, very playable and a pleasant round. We finished in just over 4hrs., so the pace was excellent. Certainly one of the top public venues in SoCal, and probably the best conditioned facility overall.

tees were fine.

fairways needed a haircut but the mower was out there
so i'm sure it's all good.

rough in my opionion should be higher. there isn't much of it do to
the natural areas really being the "non-fairway" element of this course.
and having the rough at 3" might just slow balls down just enough to keep them from going into the natural areas all the time.

in all, the course is great and a challenge for me. i'm dying to break 80 here.

if you are anything above a 15 handicap, PLEASE play from the whites.

Finally got to play Angeles National: one course on 'my list' which had elluded me for years ... and what a treat. In a nutshell, it's target golf with large, fast greens and lot's of 'environmental areas' to contend with. Not very long but course knowledge is imperative. Some blind landing areas but a state-of-the-art GPS system helps a lot. Still, must play it a few times to get the feel. Need to bring your 'A' game to score well ... or extra balls for anything less. Right up there with IH as a LA area public venue that provides a true test of your game. Can't wait to come back ... I can only imagine the torture if you play it on a hot, windy afternoon :)

As a senior, the price is definitely right; and, if you play on Monday or Tuesday, they also give you free lunch with your greens fee! High handicappers neeed to bring extra balls - you WILL lose some!

Truly a gem for So. Cal. golfers....but take heed and read prior reviews...this is not a course for the high-handicapper. I'm a "medium" handicapper (currently a 15) - and "bogey-golf" was as good as I could do out there today. I should have followed my own advice and played from the white tee-boxes...but I was playing with two fellows who were playing from the black stones...and - well...you know how it goes! My putter kept this from being a 100+ round (I shot a legit 91 with one adjustment for a "snowman"). The guys I played with knew the course pretty well...local knowledge can save your a$$ - especially on approach shots and green "breaks". They were telling me that the greens were very sandy (they were pretty sandy, I don't know when they were "punched") and much slower than usual. Well...if today was a "slow greens" day - I'd hate to see what downhill putts look like on a "speedy" day!!! Being above the hole is no picnic on the greens of Angeles National!!

Even though I played terribly, I enjoyed this track. I won't be heading back there for any more torture until I work on my game and get my driver straightened out! But the conditions are great, the layout is tricky, but fair.

And...don't be a hero. Play from the whites if you're a "fifteen" like me!
