Played midday today. The course is in very good shape overall. The greens are receptive, smooth and fast. The greens still have too many ball marks, however - people simply have to fix them when they make 'em. The course is playing pretty hard and fast right now - what I think are optimum conditions.

tees are doing fine

fairways are doing fine - some browning but no bare spots.

rough can still come up a bit. i'd love to see all rough at 3"
some clumpy areas but hey, it's the rough. pay the price for a bad shot.
inspire yourself to learn how to hit on clumpy areas. the pros have to do it

greens are rolling out well. in reference to the lack of hardness comments, the course is maturing now so the base is settled and not so new and hard like it was in it's first few years. if they wanted the greens to be a good 11 or 12 stimp, they'd have to dry them out which is not good for people who drag their feet as well as the maintanence neglect to do so would ruin them. believe me when i say, that it is good the greens are more receptive. bent grass is great putting grass but requires a lot of care. because this course, as difficult as it is, brings out some really bad golfers, it's better the greens are maintained for more managable conditions over challenging conditions.

for the price, you can't get a better round.

the clubhouse is in production too and should be done by next spring/summer. looking forward to a post round beer on the patio.

Played twilight today. Tee to green, the course rates A- right now. Tee boxes, bunkers, fairways, all are in good shape. The greens, however, I'd rate B+ right now. There are a lot of ball marks, and the speed is medium-fast. I've played this course since its inception, and early on, the greens were very hard to hold and were very, very fast. Now, the greens are far more receptive, but the speed is down a bit. Still, for a $50 twilight rate, this is one of the best courses in the region.

Played labor day weekend in 4 hrs. Has been very hot but course holding up well. Some thin areas in fairways but greens are good. Marshalls seem to be really trying hard to keep up pace of play which in the past has been a problem. My only minor complaint, took 12 holes to see the cart girl and it was well over 100 degrees. Then they sent her to lunch for an hour at 1pm.

Played on 8-27 in the afternoon. The overall course condition is good. However, there are many areas on the fairway that are extremely thin. Many, many tight lies near the greens. Because the area surrounding the greens was so hard and thin, it was often easier to put, rather than chip from 10 or 15 yards off the green. Also, the greenside bunkers (found two of them) were like concrete. Very little sand, mostly hard dirt. The greens were pretty fast and true. However, there are way too many unrepaired ball marks.

Softest condition I have seen in 2 years -- I actually made ball marks on these greens; slow compare to regular lightning fast condition we are used to. Becareful when you are in the bunkers -- there are large embedded rocks and it can cause some damage to your irons. The greens run very true overall. The GPS was off by 20 yeards on some holes and we had to rely on our range finder. Definitely worth the money. Also a good place to see some celebrities on weekends. Most par 5s are reachable in two so trust your clubs. Forget the Blue tee, just go for black. Can't wait for next round here again..

Played twilight Aug 25. The course is in B+ condition right now, but B+ here is equal to "A" anywhere else. The greens are a little splotchy and pock marked, so they're not rolling quite as smoothly or quickly as usual. If you've never played here before, you have to come in assuming that any balls hit along the edge of the fairways can easily kick into the hazards. Balls take hard bounces here and there's a lot of release. Finally, I read TrojanDan's post below about the service here. He must've caught everyone on a bad day because I think the service here is very good. I have never had a problem. For example, there was beverage cart service last night until 7p - you don't see that very often.

Wonderful course condition, play here as often as I can. Two big problems, the course is very monotonous, many holes (6 and 9 / 4 and 15) are exact replications of each other. Also, the staff is absolutely terrible. Bad attitudes, poorly informed, generally sour people - entirely unhelpful.
