Played on 11/21/06. Course is in great shape. Still cart path only. Greens are nice (reasonably fast), fairways are in good condition. Played in 4 hrs 15 mins. Challenging course, must be able to carry many arroyos.

I showed up on a Friday morning, 8am, as a single, and got out right away. Staff were VERY helpful and polite. Only drawback was "carts on cart path only," but I understand they just had aeration and overseeding. Course was a treat to play! Starter politely warns you about not walking into the arroyo to retrieve balls. I must admit that I went in it once. With the cart on the path way over on one side of the fairway, and me on the other side, having just shanked one into the arroyo, and not having another ball with me to play, I went in after it. Got caught. Marshall saw me go in (they have eyes everywhere). He gently admonished me not to go in the arroyo again ("its a safety issue"). My bad. I appreciate the attentive staff out on the course keeping everything moving smoothly. In short, Angeles National is a MUST play for every serious golfer.

I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS ON THE PHONE WHEM I MADE THE RESERVATION. OK I DRIVE 51 MILES TO A GREAT COURSE THAT HAS A GREAT GPS SYSTEM AMD THEN WHEN I ARRIVED "HELLO" CART PATH ONLY. BACK TO PHIL. THE OTHER 2 SUM WE PLAYED WITH GAVE PHIL A EARFULL ABOUT THE CART PATH ONLY RULE. ITS NOT HIS FALT THAT THE PEOPLE THAT TAKE THE TEE TIMES DON'T HAVE THE BRAINS TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE NO CARTS ON FAIRWAYS RULE. I MUST SAY THAT THE STAFF IS 100% BETTER THEN THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE. THE COURSE IS IN GREAT SHAPE FROM TEE BOXES TO FAIRWAYS TO TRAPS AND THE GREENS ARE TRUE. FAST AND QUICK. THE OTHER THING I HAD A PROBLEM WITH WAS ALL THE MARKERS ON THE TEES WHERE PUT TOGETHER. SO WE JUST PLAYED FROM THE YARD MARKERS ON THE TEE BOXES. GREAT COURSE. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. JUST REMEMBER HAVE A OPEN MIND AND YOU WILL ENJOY YOURSELF.

Loved the course! The greens are fast,but could be in better shape if people could...please repair your divots! I will play here overe and overe again.

Played at 11:00 am Friday the 6th and finished in about 4:20 in a threesome. We had to wait on several holes and could have finished in 4 hours or less otherwise. I have played here many times and I must say that the course is not in quite a good a shape as I have seen in the past. The tee boxes were a bit rough, and I had several shots in the fairway where there was grass, but it was "hard pan". greens were fast and true as usual-which is good to be able to rely on. In addition, some hard spots around the greens made for a couple of ridiculous bounces on lofted shots that really weren't what I believe the designer intended. I guess the course shape was dictated by a the hot weather, I trust it will soften up and be in better shape once the rains begin.
I din't have any service problems, and the Starter was friendly as he usually is. I saw the Marshall several times while playing so I felt like he was available if needed.

the greens are fantastic. no rough to speak of. tee boxes still in lousy shape from overseeding. overpriced for the weekend.

Very poor attitude from staff and that was better than the attitude from the manager. The poor service started in the pro shop, was furthered by the starter, continued with the marshals/spotters, maintained by the grill staff in the single wide trailer and finally sunk to new lows with a manager who basically said "so what" when told about the level of service. While the course is good, the overall experience has "taken the bloom off the rose". I would be very hard pressed to return to this course at any price.
