Played here Friday the 1st with my golf club from work. Let me start out by saying this course isn't wanna of my favorites but it's always the first track we play in the beginning of our season so I play along. The best thing about the course was the greens. They were rolling really well and in great shape. Very few ball marks which was nice. Now to the bad... The fairways had hard dirt patches and were hard pan throughout. Also all the tee boxes weren't level and were uneven. The ball was either above or below your feet. Wasn't in a bunker all day so I cannot comment on the sand. Won't be back till next year...

Played my annual round here, since it is free on your b-day week. It is the only time I play this course. Went out at 11:40 and finished in just under 2 hours. I went as a single and caught a 2 some at hole 15, playing my way through 1 group on the front. This place still has the absolute worse fairways and rough I have ever seen. So many bare areas. and thick patches of rough, mixed in with bare dirt. They have done some work on the greens and these actually look really nice at this time. Roll well, with more break than you can see. I gotta give them a little credit for that as well as the bunkers, which are fluffier than I remember. Unfortunately, you have to use the unlevel tee boxes, bare fairway, and patchy rough to get to the greens... Will be back May 2013 for my next free round.

played there last weekend. i was a bit apprehensive at first since my first time there - the course was in pretty bad shape. so, my expectations were not high going in.
here's the review for current conditions - 1. tee grounds uneven, hard but in decent shape. 2. fairways was decent, with some bare spots. off the fairway - lots of dirt (instead of grass). 3. bunkers were decently stocked. 4. greens slow but acceptable.
Given the price, it was not bad at all. I was also expecting a 6 hour round but was pleasantly surprised to be done in under 5. Staff was friendly but didn't see any marshalls.

Course #7 on my SoCal Tour. This is a course I don't think I will be playing again anytime soon. Played with a friend of mine who had a 2 for 1 discount. The tee boxes were moved up on a lot of tees due to overseeding, which I didn't mind. The fairways were bare in a lot of spots, which I also didn't mind. The rough and sand were decent. The GREENS, oh my god, the greens were absolutely horrid. The WORST greens I have ever played on. Pitch marks everywhere, some where lightning fast the others slow as molasses. Grass was growing around the lips of the cups on 4 holes. 1 green was almost completely covered in sand. Not a great experience, to say the least.

Gave this place another chance, just because I was riding a hot streak and this is the closest course to my house. This place is pretty much a dump. Shots in the fairway are on dirt many times. Tee boxes are worn out and can be very unlevel. Course layout is pretty plain with a few interesting holes, but redundant for the most part. The greens are decent as they roll well, but are slow. I will only be back here for my free birthday rounds from now on.

Big mistake, this is a dog track, lots of bare spots, greens were spongy, tall grass tru out the course, trash all over, not mowed, no beverage cart, no marshal, will not play here ever again, even if its free and they pay me.

Played Azusa Geens for the first time on Friday, 7/29 in a foursome on a freebie, as my buddy's wife picked it up a round for four for him at a charity auction. I'm having a difficult time trying to find the right tone to describe the experience as it was a weird juxtaposition of contrasts. Their web page prominently features their upgraded clubhouse. Seemingly built onto the pre-existing clubhouse, it wasn't fabulous but certainly nice enough and, on the day, it was obviously set up in anticipation of a large wedding. Yet when I first pull in, parked, and looked up at the sign out front, it read Az sa Gre ns because the sign was in such disrepair that letters had long fallen off its obviously ancient, weather-beaten surface. If you only saw the sign you would assume the pace was long abandoned. The front line guy working the carts and first tee was diligent enough, but got to prove it when one of our carts broke down at the first green. When I was out on the course I heard the loud speaker calling for replacement of a cart on another occasion. The warm up/practice complex is actually very well developed with practice bunker, chipping and putting greens, and grass driving range. In that respect, one of the better complexes I've seen in terms of options if not pristine quality. But while the driving range was grass, you had to hunt a little for a level spot that had a workable amount of that grass and then you hit out into some kind of unkempt waste area -- about the ugliest hitting area I've ever seen. I mean, it did do the job, and I don't expect grass at the receiving end, but grade the thing or tidy it up a bit. And so the day went. The fairways seemed to be about 60% good enough grass lies and the other 30% dried out or hardpan or circled as ground under repair. The rough areas tended to looked parched, a bit ragged and somewhat unattractive. The sand in the traps was pretty decent but rakes were almost non-existent. A marshal commented that"they come in at night and steal them". Apparently not the rakes with the ends broken off the handles. The greens overall were also decent, ball marks not withstanding -- huge with a fairly consistent medium speed. Teeboxes were chewed up, dry , and a bit uneven more often than not, although they were generally playable with a few actually in pretty good shape. The course is flat, as in Encino/Balboa flat, which would make it a good walking course. Although the listed greens fees include carts, I'm only guessing there is no prohibition on walking as an option. It runs through a residential development with a lot of holes paired side by side, running in opposite directions. It is generally very straight, with long par fours. There were two holes that were soft doglegs and one par five was the only real dogleg on the course. if you like to hit driver, this is a course for it and the firm fairways give you runout. Although next to a large reservoir, there are no water hazards and I would say it is relatively lightly bunkered except around the greens. When you look up from most parts of the course, the view of the mountains immediately nearby is rather stiking. This course was like a decent guy in a bad suit and a hair piece: not necessarily a bad guy to hang around with and he has some positive traits, but you are going to have to overlook some questionable aesthetics and and you are going to wonder about the priorities behind some of the presentation. There are front line people there trying to make a living so I'm not going to bag on the course just because it was less than a pristine experience. Would I go out of my way to play here or recommend it over any number of other courses? Honestly, no. Would I play here again if someone invited me along? Sure. In the end it was Golf, it was playable, it had its challenges, the beers was cold at the end of the round and I had a good time. Sorry I couldn't be more vague.

Customer service was top notch. cant say that for the course... we had a 2 for 1 coupon so that made it worth it. 1 round with cart only $17.50.... so at that price i would play the course again....greens had not healed from aeration and fairways were not good on 12 of 18 holes..... ruff was terrible if there was ruff. alot on pine needles and dirt. tee boxes ok. good course for practice and to work on game
