I knew it was going to be very cold, so I was looking for a course that would not have "frost issues" or at least not enforce them. No frost, but really really cold! (Bone chilling) My hands never got warm - no feel despite my "heat packs". The course was as I expected ..... very shabby, lots of bare spots, unlevel tee boxes, etc. However to my surprise and delight, the greens were very good. (Which is the most important part to me) To be fair, it looks like they are trying to improve conditions here. Much better than when I last played several years ago. Also to my surprise, the course was very crowded ..... at 6am on a cold winter morning, so they must be doing something right?

Played today with a mid morning tee time. We had to wait about 30 minutes after our scheduled tee time to tee off. Pace of play was SLOW! It took our group 2 hours and 45 minutes to play the front 9. Back 9 took about 2 hours and 15 minutes. I think a lot of people left after 9 holes.

Course conditions were awful as shown in earlier posts. If it wasn't for the 2 for 1 deal at $22.50 person (which includes cart), I wouldn't have played here. The tee boxes were torn up and was not level. The fairways are pretty narrow here. I see players all over the place. There would be golfers from adjoining fairways on our fairway. The fairways were just awful and mostly dirt. If there were any grass, it was very thin. Grass on the fairways were mostly yellow and very dry. There were so many areas on the fairways marked ground under repair. Trees along the fairways can pose a lot of problems if you don't hit your shots on the fairways. It was my first time playing here. We got lost going to the next tee boxes on a couple of holes. The signs directing us to the next holes were very confusing on a couple of holes like from hole #8 to tee box on hole #9.

Bunkers were average but most of the ones I were in had areas which were not raked up. The greens were fair and firm and the balls tend to roll a little slow. This facility looks a lot outdated. At least the carts were decent. Golf course winds itself around homes. You have to be careful to not hit your ball into people's backyards. Course would be decent with a lot more TLC. Don't think I'll be back to play here again.

As indicated in pior posts, this course is better than Alondra and Victoria, but the pace of play is slower than both of those places. I think its more of a Hackers Haven than anything else. We played Sunday and ended up just joining the threesome ahead of us to make a sevensome and we still played faster than the group ahead of us.

Course conditions tend to be below average. Greens look decent, but rolls very sloooooow. If they maintain this course alittle better, it wont be so bad

I think most people are put off by this course thinking they're gonna come in and just pound it into submission and get upset when the course bites back. This is a run of the mill muni, that can use more water but not the dirt track that people describe it as. Granted, its not gonna win any awards and with a 2 for 1 WEEKEND rate (which ends up being 22.50 each) this ain't no Trump National, but its not that much worst than some of the other muni's around LA.
That said, it definitely a step down in a lot of ways - tee boxes are battered, some fairways are seriously distressed and the greens aren't the fastest. There isn't any memorable holes to speak of and pace of play, while decent when we played this weekend, can be brutal.
With that - the course can plays fairly easy if you're hitting fairways. Greens are receptive and the rough is almost non-existent. We play summer rules and move our ball off bald spots, which were mostly on the side of the fairways. Trees line every fairway and they're pretty narrow which is where you can get into the most trouble. But if you're a 90s shooter, because of the relative lack of length, you can do well - maybe even break 90.
Ultimately, this is not a course I would take my dad to when he's visiting from out of town but to hang with friends, crack a few beers and shoot a decent score, it does nicely.

Played on 7-14 with the free birthday round. Course conditions are what has been posted previously (poor fairways, teeboxes, slow greens, etc). Played the front nine in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Got to the 10th tee and caught up with a fivesome. These guys decided to use this hole as a driving range. Each guy hitting numerous tee shots and then jumping the fence to see if they could find their balls. After teeing off on the 11th hole and waiting in 98 degree heat, we picked up and called it the day. It's been many years since i last played this course and i'm pretty sure that this will be the last

My buddy had a birthday b.o.g.o. so he asked if I drive he would split it with me so it came to $17 with cart. Played on time for a monday at 12:20 tt. From reading reviews the day before I was expecting it to be really bad. It really was'nt as bad as it sounded. I guess from playing courses like Victoria links, Compton par 3, Dominguez hills, Alondra, this course was kinda like being home. It's no Trump or Skylinks by any means, but fun for sure.
IMO,
Pros: Good pace, mountain air, nice staff, challenging layout, fluffy bunkers, lots of big pine trees, worth the discounted greenfee.
Cons: Lots of bare spots on fairways and rough(rough was mostly dirt/pine needles), slow greens, tees not very level. tight fairways(I hit fairway wood off most par 4's), some houses close on fairways.
Overall if you like a budjet course a little rough around the edges, go play it.
