Played out here on Saturday 3/19 at a leisurely pace of 3 hours. For the front nine....Back nine quickened up and we were able to finish is a quick 2.75 hours. At least it was a nice day for a an almost 6 hour round of golf.

On the brightside the course is in much better shape than the last time I was out here. The fairways are green and well covered. The rough is green and mostly covered. Never thick though. Typical muni grass, plays fine but doesn't look great.

Greens were slow, though pretty smooth.

Tee boxes flat in general.

The highlight is the new sand. All the bunkers have new sand and rakes in them. It's like playing out of a course that charges the rack rate that they have on the weekends.

Course is shaping up nicely and will probably be nice for the next few months. Though not worth the rack rate, definitely worth a weekday play if you can get a decent rate.

They have also opened up a new pitching area for practice that looks lush from a distance though I didn't see it up close. It's been fenced off for a few months so hopefully it's a great new practice area.

They are aerating the greens Monday and Tuesday so give it till April before hitting up Course 1.

Just another typical day at Brookside!!!!! Get to the window at 5:55 for a 6:22 t-time and no one there (line of about fifteen people). Then when they open up one women get out of line and goes around the back and inside and the starter let her! She takes up the starters time instead of the starter taking care of the people in LINE. So we get to the first tee and one women is standing at the red tees and I ask "what is your t-time" she says "6:22" I tell her "that can't be because we have 6:22". Now she doesn't speak English!!!!! We tell her it's 6:22 and she is a single so go ahead and tee off. She does and then comes the women that was INSIDE THE STARTERS and she joins her and tees off. Ok only a 2 ball and we are a 4 ball. We let them get to the green and we tee off and are walking to our balls and down the cart path comes there THIRD player. By the time we got to the fifth hole they are FIVE!!!!!!!! This goes on almost every morning (THE PATIENTS ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM). Most of us who play early want to play without waiting on every shot and this is hit and miss at Brookside (we were third out today and it was over 4 hrs). Not the way golf should be played. Now for the course greens are getting better and better tee boxes also better fairways about the same but good. Now for the sand, ALL NEW sand in the sand traps, but we were third out and 90% of the sand traps were unraked. Come on people if you are going to play this game have some consideration for the people behind you. RACK THE TRAPS, FIX YOUR BALL MARKS AND PUT THE FLAG ALL THE WAY IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE A TEST!

Got out as a single on Sunday 12/6 with a GN deal for $24 with cart but I walked. I normally play the back 9 here so I knew it would be crowded. My tee time was 12:04 which on this course meant finishing before dark would be a challenge, but for $24 what the heck right. I paired up with another single and a twosome, all very enjoyable to play golf with. I must say I really was impressed with #1. The greens on Sunday were very fast with lots of subtle undulation. The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were what you expect at this time of year, a dormant mixture of green and brown, cut low too, which allowed for some roll out, and easy to hit from. I wasn't in any bunkers so I can't comment on the sand. I really like holes 8, 9 and 16 where water comes into play off the tee. Also a couple of short par 4's, like hole #5, that offer options. The problem with Brookside is it is too busy! After 4 1/2 hrs we had just finished 15 and the group in front of us was just about to tee off on 16. It was getting slower, colder and darker. I decided I was done at that point. Really like the course but the rack rate to play early is too high $75 I'll play it again at the right time and price though. I enjoyed my 15 holes!

Decided to give Brookside #1 a shot since I had to drive up to LA. Thankfully, no frost delay so able to get out early. Course is in typical "winter condition" still suffering from the residual parking issues from the UCLA football game a few weeks ago, but not too bad. Greens were better than I expected, rolled reasonably true and quick. Fairways were hit or miss, depending where you ended up. Wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked OK, albeit not all of them raked

Senior rate makes this course well priced, otherwise it would not be worth the $$. Always enjoy this track, although I find some the long par 4's a bit more than I can handle now days. (Maybe it's time to move up???)

Sat morning round on Brookside #1, a bit slow and busy course today (5:10) for sure. Saw carts stacked up all over the place. Anyway, the layout on #1 has some well designed holes mostly protected by mature trees and strategic bunkers. Some length is required if you go beyond the white tees, short knockers beware!

Greens were in very good condition considering the amount of play it gets. I was impress with the nice short cut and speed, so difficult to read theses babies ... I putted poorly but still enjoyed the challenge and look forward to coming back.

Some very thin fairway lies, and if you go under the trees it's noting but hard pan and leaves. Bunkers somewhat thin sand coverage, be careful in there.

I'm looking forward to coming here again.

First time playing was morning after UCLA game in the Rose Bowl night before: the golf course is used for parking! Thus, the fairways were a bit chewed up and a pickup truck was still parked in the 9th fairway about 280 off the tee: couldn't quite reach it into the wind. Good design, but the grass isn't in great shape right not. Greens are very fast, but still waffled from earlier punching, so tough to score. Staff friendly and helpful, even letting us hit on the range for a while before the portapottys from the football game were trucked away: only time I've ever had a hitting target perfect matched to my wedge game. We were a 3some following other 3somes, and round was surprisingly fast for Sunday morning, around 4:15. Bit more expensive than some other local courses in better shape, but an enjoyable change-up.

Pace of play was great, no one ventures out on a raining day. However, everything else, but the greens were trashed. Thank you, tailgaters. Can't forget the tire treads on the fairway.

I like Brookside, both #1 and #2, but if you can ever avoid it. Don't play after a football game at the Rose Bowl.

First the course is in great shape. Greens medium fast, fairways good, (some areas G.U.R.) T-boxes good. That's the good and now the BAD!!!! Pace of play was just about as bad as it could be!!!!!!! At the 4.25 hour mark on hole fifteen I had had enough. Brookside lets out 5 balls and then just let them play as SLOW as they want. So for the first nine holes we waited on every shot (2.5 hrs.). At number 10 there were three groups standing on the Tee and then it got worse. Brookside had a modified shot gun starting at 8am (14 to 1 holes) with six-somes! The 5 ball that was so slow could not keep up with a 6 ball! MARSHALL WHAT MARSHALL!!!!!! So when we finished 15, there standing on the 16th tee was FOUR groups and I had had enough (4.25 hrs)!!!!!!!!!! One more thing the five-some were five men in three carts and right behind them was another five-some all women, all walking and they were up there butts all morning. Shame on you Brookside, players that tee off at 5:45am want to play in 4 hrs. or LESS and not 5.5 hrs.!! If you want to put out five-somes in the am get Marshall's out there to keep them going.

Hello fellow golfers. I played Brookside #1 today the 18th of May. I wanted to play somewhere close today to I decided to tee off at super twilight, 3:30pm, on the #1 course. I haven't played this side a year or so. They have made a few changes to this course. They added more length and fixed the lake on # 6 making it more of a challenge on the left side of the fairway from the gold markers. I usually bring my driver with me to the green on #10 and then walk right off the green to #11 tee box, but not this time. I had to look 60yds to the left of where I used to tee off on #11 to see the gold gold tees. The water on #18 is no longer a factor either but there is still the Rose Bowl parking lot if you go too far right. Overall the changes were good and the course was in good shape. I thought the greens would be a bit faster but oh well. Until next time...
