Decent muni conditions throughout. They are getting ready for the Burbank city championship this weekend so conditions are better than normal for the most part.

Greens have decent speed but nothing too fast. Still, you want to be below the hole as much as possible. Bumpy at times, you still have to hit them firm to keep them online. Most greens are small and look straightforward enough but there is a lot of break on the majority of them, some severely so (4, 8, 9, 10, 15 come to mind).

Tees are the usual lumpiness except for the recently redone ones. Fairways and rough generally lush and starting to look quite healthy in spots. Sand looked good and had been conditioned/groomed.

Played here today. I've never been a fan of Mountain-type courses, but this was definitely a fun course. The fairways were good, tee boxes o.k., the bunkers actually had sand in them. The only problem were the greens. Extremely slow as they were just aerated. Also, some in my group maybe should've played from the forward tees. We were really slow, and I apologize to anyone that played behind us, but since it was our !st time on the course, a little leeway should be shown.

Lots of target golf here, as if you are much off the fairway, you can be down gullys, cliffs, street, etc. Fairways are mostly decent, but patches here and there. Rough is a bit soft as well. Lots of OB here in the layout to help you use up your old balls. Lots of tempting short holes , but better off playing conservatively on these. A fun round with GK'ers, but very slow for the shortness of the course, as it seemed to wait on every hole and just over 5 hours here.

Played on Saturday, 9/24/11, with divot1957, Paisano, and tonybarrett. 12 noon tee time found us waiting on most tee boxes making it a five hour round. Most of the course is in fine condition: lush fairways and rough; greens soft and medium fast with lots of break toward the valley. The only negatives condition-wise would be small rocks in some of the sand traps, several ball marks on greens, and most of the fairway on the fifth hole (kind of dry and beat up). Other than getting beat up on the score card, it was an enjoyable afternoon with fellow GKers.

Complete nonsense from a course management standpoint. 2 hours 50 minutes to play 9 holes (gave up and walked off thereafter) with no marshall. Many, many hackers playing from the tips.

Course is typical muni, yet tough to score on. Greens especially so - soft, and by far the bumpiest surfaces I've putted on this year. Ball was dancing all over the place like an irate bee.

Tees a total disaster, except for the renewed ones - hardly any grass and lumpy. Fairways good - rough is thick enough to get your attention and pretty juicy in spots. Sand generally good.

Played Sunday with a 1:00 pm tee time. The starter let us off early since there was no one in front of us. For $50 (w/cart) this course is much better than the Valley munis. Other than the long par 3's, there are no straight holes here. Although the course is not long, the doglegs require you to think your way around. The course is narrow and hilly with mature trees, vegetation, deep barrancas and nasty rough...all there to gobble up stray shots. Bring plenty of balls (though you are certain to find some). This is a challenging track; don't be fooled by its length (and it is really ok to hit from the white tees). The scenery is nice and we even had deer & rabbits on the course. I took away only two negatives: The tee boxes are pretty beat up. Seldom could you tee off from a level position. The other was pace of play. After several holes we caught up to the group in front of us, but they moved along pretty well. We finished the front 9 in about 2 hours. Pretty good! When we made the turn to the 10th tee box we could see a group on the green, another waiting in the fairway, another waiting at the tee box and three more groups in front of us. Where did they come from?! We had to cool our heels for over 30 minutes before we could start the back 9. While things eventually spread out, we waited on every tee box after that and got to know the players in front & in back of us pretty well. The back 9 took a bit over 3 hours. Oh well.

I played here on 6/28/11 and have to agree with Weeman's review. Except I found the greens to be fairly smooth and surprisingly fast on the wrong side of the hole. Everything breaks to Burbank. This course is tight and tough to score on. The kikuyu rough, trees and barrancas swallow strokes but I found it very fun to play.
The food in the restaurant was pretty good too.

Tough little course that plays way harder than indicated on the scorecard. Majority of holes have lateral hazards on one or both sides tight in. Course is hilly and narrow with many doglegs - rarely do you have a flat lie (more typical is hook/slice or uphill/downhill shots). Also, one of the toughest par 3's anywhere - 230 into the wind, a tad uphill to a small green only 15 paces deep.

Probably the bumpiest greens I have played this year which were slow also - not a good combo. Overall, decent muni conditions for the twilight walking price of 19. For a buck a hole I can stand beat up tee boxes and average fairways all day long.

Look out for errant golf balls - it's a hacker's paradise out there!
