played here 4/30/17. Course is much harder than it appears in pictures. Greens and pin placements were extremely tough. Most of the holes were dog legs with very little room for error. Greens and tee boxes were good and fairway was nice but patchy in some areas. We were attacked by gnats the entire round which became very annoying when putting and lining up for a drive. They need to do some serious bug management here. Saw a dead rattler on hole 11 fairway so beware of snakes on this course. Its up in the hills and doesnt have very much shade. Overall it was a fun round. I am a 14 handicap and I shot a 105 which should say something about how difficult this course is for the first time playing it. Pace of play was 4 1/2 hours for a foursome. Good place and good deal for 40-60 bucks. I wouldn't pay more than $60 though.

Play Mon May 1 2017 6:40 am , Holes were being punch again and when I booked the tee time I asked about greens condition because they had been punch a month ago. I was told they were in great shape. When we finished, I went in to ask about it and young man in shop didn't know anything about them doing it again. instead of giving us a free round, just gave us $10 off next round, we drove from Torrance and won't be back we were following behind the maintenance people punching the holes.

If you're like me you've come here looking for someone to convince you not to play De Bell on a Saturday after your buddies suggested it. Failing to find any passionate reviews to do the trick, I made the mistake. What follows is my attempt to prevent you from doing the same. When we checked in at 9:50 for a 10:16 tee time we were told they were running a HALF HOUR behind schedule. I've never been told that in my life. When we teed off, the starter said pace on the front was running about 2 hours, which was a lie and we made fun of him the rest of the round. We waited on every shot all day, and our front 9 was over 2.5 hours. I streamed an entire Yankees game from our original start time at 10:16 am and it ended as we walked off the 9th green. The hacks come out on the weekends here, and it's not an easy course for beginners. At one point I caught two noobs in bathing suits and boat shoes sharing a single set of clubs about to drive their cart onto a green. I yelled at them not to, and one of them actually got out of his cart, bent over, and told me to lick his ass. That's the clientele here. This place is a mess. I don't know why a challenging, shot-maker's course with small, slopey greens attracts every hack in the Valley, but this is where they flock and god help you if you happen to be paired with them. De Bell is also apparently the only place where it didn't rain this winter in all of Southern California. The fairways are every bit as inconsistent as the last time I played last fall: good in places, dry and brown in others. The rough is the same. It just looks like very little effort has been put into conditioning the course, while everywhere else in the region shows improvement. On at least two holes there were sprinkler hoses bundled up and tossed to the side of the fairway, because they're apparently too lazy to store them properly. In fairness, some highlights: best breakfast burrito of any course I've played in the area. Bar and restaurant on the whole are pretty good. Solid pro shop as well with good selection and prices. Cart girl passed us 5 times during the round which would be outstanding IF she accepted credit cards, but she doesn't. And we REALLY needed the drinks to stave off the boredom. I don't know, apparently in 2017 the technology to accept mobile CC payments still doesn't exist. Or the course just likes leaving hundreds of dollars a day in revenue on the course because they can't be bothered. Ridiculous. At the end of what ended up being a 6 hour round (including the initial delay) I went to the pro shop to purchase some socks I've had my eye on for some time, which were $3 less than Roger Dunn. I complained to the guy at the counter who'd checked us in and he said "yeah, we're just really busy today." Yes, I know. That's exactly what I'm complaining about. And it's not like this is a rarity for De Bell, it's the norm every time I've played on a weekend afternoon. Stop booking so many tee times, and tell the hacks to play from the whites. Or from the reds. Or from the frisbee golf course down the street. We used to come here from Santa Monica because there was a great Philly cheese steak place nearby that we'd hit after the round. That closed a few years ago, and now there's absolutely no reason to play this place unless it's 7am on a Tuesday and you can avoid the crowds, and you live down the block, and you lost a bet. Never again.

Played out here on 3/30 with the GK certificate. Good deal, even $10 cheaper than the resident rate. Course was in decent shape. Fairways were good. Tee Boxes pretty good, grassy and generally flat. Greens were just aerated a few days ago, rolled quick but not much break. Rough was weak, not penalizing at all. Sand didn't look great. Big pile of new sand on the back nine so hopefully they will be adding new sand to the bunkers soon. Not much to be said about the service. No mobile snack cart, though the course was pretty quiet. Was able to scoot around at a leisurely pace, taking time to converse with a friend and still finished in under 3:30 without pushing anyone in front of use and the single behind us not pushing us. Amazing day not too windy even though it's up in the canyon.

Played 3-23-17 early morning walking as a threesome in 2 hours 40 minutes. Tee boxes were in descent shape with some divot damage on shorter par fours and three pars. Fairways were mostly in good shape semi-lush with some small bare areas here and there. Rough here is still a mix of everything from long and lush to some bare spots. Was in two greenside bunkers both of which had good sand but a lot of small rocks in them. Greens were in great shape holding shots real nice and rolling fast and smooth.

Joined GK Review Guru Krajan01 down from NoCal that doubled as business meeting. Kish was flying out Burbank so we conveniently scheduled DeBell Golf Club. Posted a bunch of photos … check them out. It had been a while since I played DeBell Golf Club, so much so I thought Hole 10 was Hole 1. Turns out they flipped the nines some time ago and I really liked that change. I think the now back nine a far better side than the front. However I also enjoy the diversity of the front nine and precision target golf that must be played. I only took my driver out on the 9th hole but then on the back nine I used my driver on all the par 4’s and par 5’s. The golf course was in very good shape and exceeded my playing condition expectations. Greens were running fast, true and holding shots. Fairways green and mostly lush. Rough a little spotty but mostly lush. The tee boxes were mostly lush, level and not as much divot damage you would expect on a short course. The only negative were the bunkers that were pretty firm with some debris. After the round we hung out for lunch in the clubhouse. They have an excellent 19th hole with patio dining. Very comfortable and spacious. Good food and reasonably priced. I thought the service was excellent as well. I snapped some photos of the clubhouse in addition to the golf course. There is a GK Coupon posted and a pretty mind blowing TW special for $15 that includes cart. They are going to aerate the greens starting on 3/27 so get out there and play it soon. Recommended!

Played Debell for the first time this eeek and really enjoyed it. Beautiful track cut into the hills of Burbank. Weather was perfect. And the meander through the beautiful hills was very enjoyable. Short in yardage but still very challenging up and down holes. And the greens were small, slopy and fast! It's a cool experience that I recommend. And finally the clubhouse is beautiful with a great menu and staff. Rock solid 19th hole:)

Played 2-9-17 second out in a little under three hours walking for $22 joining a twosome in carts.
Tee boxes were in descent shape, a little thin and mostly level.
Fairways have filled in pretty good from all the rain, there are still some small bare spots but mostly good lies.
Rough was a little longer and lusher then normal making it play a little more difficult.
Bunker looked to be in okay shape.
Greens were in really nice shape medium/fast and smooth.
The course has really greened up from all the rain and is worth playing if you don't mind a short quirky course.

My first time playing here yesterday. We had a 7:30 tee time at Rustic Canyon but the winds were so strong that the course was unplayable so we headed to De Bell. When we arrived there was no winds at all.....we got right out and enjoyed our round however this is not my style of course. Many holes are gimmicky and you would have to hit irons off of many tees. We enjoyed ourselves but no-one really felt the course had a wow factor that would bring us back. The tee boxes were mostly level, the greens were nice and had many breaks so were difficult but fun, the sand was okay, and the fairways were very spotty with GUR marked in many locations. You definitely have to hit every type of golf shot here to score well. Chipping, bump and run, lob shots, and tee shot placement are all needed. Great place to practice with a 4 hour pace for our foursome.
