Slow is the word. 5 plus hours on a Friday morning. They put as many groups of 5 out as possible. Fairways were decent, thin is spots but mostly good lies. Greens were bad. Still not healed from aeration and many, many ball marks. Greens were also hard and would not hold approach shots at all. Would avoid until conditions improve but this place is always going to be slow, especially on weekends.

Course was a little slow...got out as a single in 15 minutes. Tee boxes were good with a few growing back from being reseeded. Fairways were in good shape for the most part with a few dirt spots. ... Continue »

Course was a little slow...got out as a single in 15 minutes. Tee boxes were good with a few growing back from being reseeded. Fairways were in good shape for the most part with a few dirt spots. Greens were fast and if you were above the hole it was tough to keep it close. Greens have recovered from being punched but do have a lot of brown ball marks on them. Traps were good and the pace of play was 4:15. Not bad for a 9:30am tee time. This is a great walking course and has a pretty good practice area with two separate practice putting greens.

Out at El Do for a Saturday, mid-morning tee time with The Boyz, running 30 min. late which means slow play ... waited on most every shot on the front side, the back moved a tad better (5:10). Fall maintenance has scraped tee boxes and some fairway areas that are thin lies, and chipping around the greens off that tight Kikuyu is super difficult. Needs some water and time to get back to good conditions. Greens were soft today, held everything, rolled quick and mostly true ... a bit bumpy occasionally throwing several putts off line. There are still some punched areas recovering. The bunkers are soft sand and were in very good shape, only a few unraked footprints but good sand to play from. Rough was a mixed bag from thin/hardpan to deep Kikuyu, leaves are falling so keep an eye out when you hit one off the fairway. Enjoyed the round, will be back in 2-3 weeks figuring it will take that much time to fill out and the Poa greens to get back to normal.

Greens are recovering and in another week will be great. Currently they are hard and fast making for some tough downhill puts. Fairways in good shape while the rough was cut short and a little bare in some spots. This course is a great walking course and our pace of play was good considering there were fivesomes on the course ahead of us.

Walked the Blues (71.0/127/6461) with Sngernz 9/18, teeing off around 7:30 in hot, humid conditions. $36 to walk on their standard early weekday rate. Thanks to Stew for setting this up, enjoyed the course and the company! The POP was painful, we played as a 5some for 14 holes (thanks American Golf!), then 2 guys left and we finished as a 3some. Probably not a coincidence I played the final 4 holes in +1 for my best 4 hole stretch of the day. 4H, 45M on a weekday morning seemed like 5H, 45M. Speaking of the course, 1st time I had played here since the early 90's. I remember eagling a par 5 on the front on a prior visit. However, even after seeing the two front nine par 5's, I could not even tell which one it was, that's how long it's been since I played here. I thought the course conditions were OK and could have been quite good overall, except for 6-8 greens that looked like a practice chipping green where every shot left a pitch mark and no one ever bothered to fix them. #1 is a short par 4 over a creek, so it's likely that almost everyone is playing a short, lofted club into that green. Take any random square yard on the front of that green and I defy you to find one that did not have a 1/2 dozen or more pot holes from old, unrepaired pitch marks. Looked like the surface of the moon! Normally, my reviews start from the tee and work to the green. However, since I have been talking about greens, lets keep going and work in reverse on this review. Bumpy, mostly firm, medium speed with the aforementioned abundance of unrepaired pitch marks. The course was doing a reasonable job at maintenance, this was a golfer issue. Even though they look nice, some of the poorer greens I have putted on recently was the net result. The rest of the course was average to above average. The traps were excellent, nicely maintained with good quality sand. And I sampled my fair share to make sure my 1st, 2nd even 3rd impressions were correct. The mostly kikuyu rough was decent, good coverage. Plenty of mature trees to catch errant shots. I hit some of my best shots of the day getting errant drives left back into play. The fairways were also decent, few areas of bad divot damage and good coverage. The tees were good overall, they had done a good job of rotation and I had no trouble finding level lies on decent turf. I liked the course layout overall, nothing spectacular but no bad golf holes either. The customer service was good. Nice restaurant, I had a burger combo after the round, decent quality at prices you would expect at a golf course. IF the golfers would repair their ball marks, this is a course worth playing. However, if the green conditions I played on today are indicative of the way local golfers take care of this course, I would rarely play here even though the layout and the rest of the course were average to above average.

Off the first tee at 7:30 on a Friday morning w/Nickesquire who ventured out of the valley again today, we got around in 4.5, a bit slow. $36 walking rate. Greens have slid into pre-aeration condition with a ton of ball marks on most greens. Speed was okay just bumpy. Got in a few bunkers, sand very playable. Thin areas in fairways and rough, rub of the green can give you a poor lie at times. Enjoyed playing with Nick even if the PoP lagged. Punching greens on 9/27 PM. Next time I might have to drive up to his neck of the woods.

We played El Dorado Park last Saturday, 29, 2015, had a 6:52AM but actually had the tee at 7:03AM. There was a fivesome in front of us who kept a good pace- never a problem. We finished pretty close to 11:20AM.

We were pleasantly impressed with El Do's conditions. The greens were good, softer than I've been used to, but rolled well in a smooth but not so fast- very enjoyable to putt on. The fairways are okay. I don't remember being in any bunkers, but it looks like it had good sand quality and application.

All in all, we had a great time here. Will be back again...hopefully.

Back to El Do for this Friday's round with a bud who likes to sleep in, so we went off at 8AM (on time) and finished 4.5 hrs later with a bit of waiting, mostly on par 3's. Greens rolling nice and in very good condition, no issues other than a few poorly repaired marks. In 3 bunkers today, all maintained and very playable. Fairways holding up during this drought and heat, and man it was hot today. Never had a bad lie, but venture into the rough and it's hit or miss. Walked it, but drank a lot of fluids.

I know El Do get bashed for slow play cuz they let 5-somes go out, but not much we can do about that ... it just feels better after we let off some steam. There are many clueless golfers out there, too, gotta roll with the punches.

Nice track in good condition. Recommended.
