I live not too far from this course now and decided to play it after about 17 to 20 years of not playing here. I actually went to the course at 7 and it was very crowded. I did not want to wait. So I went home did some laundry and came back. I got on right away but 9 holes took a very long time. The course is extremely lush. What drought?? The greens are very slow but the ball will not bump around that much. The layout is very good. The course is mature with character. Too bad its only 9 holes. The par 3 6th hole is tough with a blind tee shot if the pin is middle or back. The rest of the 8 holes are easy to average in difficulty.

It's Twilight golf after 4PM at $8.50. And I needed a golf fix. Luckily Harbor fit into my schedule without hurting my wallet. I swear twilight here is like going to McDonalds -- cheap and quick.

The round today not so quick but still it's golf and I have been chomping at the bit just to knock the rock around. Greens are back from aeration. Still very bumpy. Still large patches of dead/scalped greens but given time (2 weeks) I may just be back. The warm weather will surely help with the healing. Fairways decent coverage. Rough is cut to a bit higher than fairway. Sand in bunkers is laughable. It's hard pack and grainy. Tee boxes as always are flatish.

For me it's always about greens. They just need some time and in time they will still be just as bumpy but hopefully faster.

Mileage will vary with this course. You encounter all sorts. If you don't mind that -- and I don't you may just have a semi-decent time with your round of golf for 9 holes.

They are bouncy but a firm put will always tear through the bounciness. Fairways have good coverage. Bunkers are still hard packed grainy gravel. Rough is cut to same height of fairways, but thick in some places. Tee boxes are flat.

You get all sorts here at Harbor. Today played with some agro-golfer with a really frank way of talking -- very adversarial. It first started with him telling us that he won't play with a child in our group even if we were paired with him. Had to explain to him the child was being watched by his father and the junior and myself were joining him. Honestly I don't understand why I had to explain myself since a golf course does not allow spectators.

Then it continued when a group in carts cut in front of us. These jokers proceeded to run their carts around the green and through the greens. He kept yelling at them instead of just talking to them. Not that yelling or talking to them really mattered. Funny how he was peeved they cut in front of us yet he was willing to do the same for several holes. But that is beside the point. Me, I just put my head down and played my game and tried to ignore him. Things actually did get better when he decided to skip around the course. We were joined with another twosome and it was a relaxing round from then on.

Conditions are OK. Playing partners well it's a mixed bag. That's the price you pay for playing municipal and city courses. So if you are resilient well perhaps Harbor is a place for you to play.

Best I've seen Harbor Park in a long while. Played just before twilight in 1 1/2 hours, and zero complaints. Greens are nice, rolling about 8-9 I'd guess, good fairway coverage, tee boxes good, sand avoided all day but seemed okay, rough playable. Always a great option for nine holes.

Played yesterday. Course is looking better. Greens take shots well and if you play before noon you get the benefit of slightly smoother greens. They tend to get scruffy in the afternoon light. Speed is slowish. Fairways and rough cut to same height so no problems and decent coverage. Bunkers are bad but playable. Loads of trees have been falling since they don't trim them. Expect more to continue to fall if rain and wind continue.

Pace of play was OK. Great deal for twilight $8.50 to walk. Not bad if you want to play but are pressed for time.

I was down in PV on Saturday afternoon 4/18, and decided to hit Harbor for nine on the way home, around 3:30-ish. I was pleased to get out right away with three other singles. I rarely get the chance to play here, but enjoy it when I do. The teeing grounds are generally flat, with good coverage. The fairways are mostly generous, green and relatively lush compared to many that I see further inland. Like Penmar, I think it might be the proximity to the coast and marine air. I avoided bunkers so I can't address them. The rough is often more spare vs. thicker or longer than the fairways—generally punitive based on where you ended up (trees, etc.) rather than quality of the turf. Rough can be thicker when out in the open. Greens, as a whole, are on the larger size. They were running medium speed and reasonably smooth, but not always running completely true. There was the occasional little re-direction of the ball in motion. As it was, I had a terrible putting day, but I would not blame it on the greens. It has the less-than-perfect general aspect of a muni, but an enjoyable one. The early part of the day was warm, so being out on the course with a light ocean breeze in the later afternoon, made for a very pleasant round. It's a good walking course, which I did. Good times.

Not a lot of problems here. Decent quick round of golf. This course does get busy so expect 2+ hour for 9 holes on say a Monday and Friday. Still for what the course is, decent golf conditions for the money.

Pace of play slow but it was only 9 holes so a decent 2 hour round. Greens are bumpy. Fairways have good coverage with rough cut to the same height of fairway. Tee boxes are relatively flat and bunkers (some of the bunkers) are thin and hard packed especially the fairway bunkers.

For me, it's a great little course. Finishing quickly is a bonus so you can continue your day.

Conditions pretty good at Harbor Park today. Fairways have mostly good coverage, and the rough is very manageable. Tee boxes a little rough on back side but not terrible. Sand very typical - not hardpan but not fluffy either. Greens in really good shape for the traffic this place gets - not fast by any means but rolling true and holding shots pretty well.

Walked on as a single midday for $24 (with push cart). Very busy so definitely waited on many holes but to be expected on a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Had a disaster on easiest hole on course (#8) but still shot a best ever 42 at HP so that made it a pretty darn good day.
