The course is in amazing shape. The rough is 5+ inches tall making the rate of play a little long. It is easy to lose your ball even when you see where ball went in the rough. It made the course tougher but much more fun to play.

Yep, the Ike is back in full swing and it's just plain country club like gorgeous. Kudos to the greenskeeping staff for getting it in tip top shape. I hear cart will be allowed on fairways begining Sunday, Nov. 23. Enjoy ... but keep it in the fairway as they are letting the rough grow out a bit. Hey, I even had a water bottle in my cooler again:)

Played the Ike on 11/13/08 and the conditions were fantastic! The course had been overseed a few weeks ago and is now lush. The greens were perfect - smooth and fast. The only negative was the cart path only rule in effect. I usually play courses from the Blue tees, but the Whites are the tee of the day and the length was equal to most course's Blue tees. The elevation changes makes the course play longer. Treat your self to one of the best courses in the LA area and bring your "A" game.

I was at this course November 8th. Course is in great shape. Fairways are still growing in a few spots, and the greens are challenging.
However, the pace was slow. Ambassadors were not willing to become strict to groups slowing down pace. I got stuck between hacks that wouldn't let me play through.
The layout is always challenging. Bring confidence and accuracy when you come and play.

I played this golf course Nov. 8th. They just finished overseeding and it was only cartpath only. The course is in fantastic shape. Very challenging, with very little room for errors or errant shots. There are a few bare spots that are still growing in, and the greens are still medium speed.

Overseeding is complete, cartpaths only for a couple more weeks. Course is in great shape from tee to green, so the effort is paying off. Nice landscaping, too. The rough is a bit on the long side ... Continue »

Overseeding is complete, cartpaths only for a couple more weeks. Course is in great shape from tee to green, so the effort is paying off. Nice landscaping, too. The rough is a bit on the long side so be warned ... it's not like the old Kikuyu so your ball is playable, just hard to find. One bummer: the ice chests on the carts no longer carry a water bottle for both players ... but they do fill 'em with ice :)

Greens are coming back to the conditions we saw last spring but there's still some work left to do on the fairways and areas around the green. Some newly seeded areas are roped off so the effort is being made. Overseeding starts later in the month, let's hope we can get the Ike back to it's pretigious reputation as a top notch public venue ... and worth the high green fees.

NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD WRITE THIS KIND OF REVIEW, I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THE MENS CLUB FOR 7 YEARS AND PLAY THE BABE AND IKE ON A REGULAR BASIS RIGHT NOW BOTH COURSES ARE IN THE WORST CONDITION I HAVE EVER SEEN, GREENS HAVE BARE SPOTS AND ARE SLOW AND BUMPY, THERE ARE MANY BARE SPOTS AROUND THE GREENS AND FAIRWAYS, THIS USE TO BE ONE OF THE BEST COURSES IN ALL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND WORTH THE GREEN FEES RIGHT NOW ITS NO BETTER THAN ANY AVERAGE MUNI, THIS FALLS ON THE HEAD OF THE GREENSKEEPER, WHAT DOESN'T FALL ON HIS HEAD ARE THE GOLFERS WHO DON'T FIX THEIR BALL MARKS OR RAKE THE BUNKERS. I KNOW WHAT THESE COURSES USE TO BE LIKE, BUT THERE ALONG WAY FROM BEING THERE NOW.
