Played on Tues 6/10 had an 8:20 AM tee time, we went out at 8, they said we had to finish by 11:30 because of a large tournament with a shotgun start. We finished in 3hr28min. The renovations to the clubhouse area were impressive, nice stone work on the walkways and walls. No one in front of us or behind us, course was in awesome conditions. Everything is lush and green, fairways rolled nice, some holes had standing water in spots but did not hamper playing conditions, the greens were freshly mowed and rolled and played to about a 10 on the stimp. Bunkers were nice sand and not difficult to play out of. We kept ball in play which helped with the pace, also we hit when ready and did not stand around watching each other hit his ball. Correct cart etiquette speeds up play.

It is a beatuful couse and it is not very diffcult , I think I may back again . But when we play , there are a tourment before us . So at least 5 teams are serious delayed by them . We are 4th teams .... Continue »

It is a beatuful couse and it is not very diffcult , I think I may back again . But when we play , there are a tourment before us . So at least 5 teams are serious delayed by them . We are 4th teams . we spend 2 hours playing 5 holes . Two teams before us left , we catch up and find there are still 2 team before us . Our tee time is 2:00Pm , we leave at 7:00PM , finsihing 16 holes . We try to call the proshop , somebody answered but nobody coming until we finihsed . One team before us is so angry and try to get the compenset from them . By the way , there is only 1 water per person and no guys is selling water when playing which make me so thirsty . I think the managment need to pay attention these issue .

This was the last of 8 courses we played in 5 days. The "Ike" must get more play than the "Babe", I don't know why because the "Babe is a quality course. The pace of play was a little slow at a little over 5 hours. The greens were a bit bumpy and had some ball mark damage. The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape and overall I enjoyed the re-design, the coures was much more fair.

teed off around noon today. The Ike is in B+ shape (greens a little substandard for this course). Fairways are tight, tee boxes are solid, and the rough is growing up a bit. The greens were slower and bumpier than usual though. This facility does a great job of catering to its customers - at least that's my opinion. There is ample staff, and they just seem to work a little harder than most places to ensure that you have a good time. I read HarryO's comments below. I can see some merit in them, but the course back in the "old days" was simply a bear. It just wasn't fun trampling around constantly in the knee high scrub. Sightlines weren't great, and the cartpath only rule resulted in 6 hr rounds. I don't know about you, but I'll take carts on the fairway for a 4 1/2 round.

I have had a running love/hate relationship with Industry Hills since I was a member there in the 80's. These are the two golf courses which I use as a benchmark to judge all other SoCal golf courses. IMHO, it is very sad to see a couple of things...
1. These courses have been being "dumbed down" for the last 10 or 15 years. It is being done in the name of "playability", but they have been cutting the rough back further and further and taking out bunkers with abandon...this last "improvement" saw them re-shaping some of the more challenging greens on the course.
2. They are letting carts on the fairways. When I was a member (and for many years after that) carts were on cart-paths only. That meant that the course was always in immaculate shape. Now there are muddy spots, bare patches, and sometimes rough fairways.
3. Because there is more play (due to carts in the fairways), the greens do not really hold up that well, and they go thru periods of being very slow, then fast, then slow...never consistent.
4. I have yet to see anyone improve a Billy Bell design. I have seen people try, but for me, I have never been pleased with the result. These are two courses that I really don't bother playing much any longer...particularly since they raised their rates so much. I think a lot of people who have played there many times over the years feel the same...you can almost always get a tee time.
