The reputation of the course precedes itself. It's a tough PGA Qualifier course, large undulating greens, tight chutes, the whole gambit of every hacker's nightmare, BUT it's a great test of golf. On a personal level I wished I played better on the front 9 what are you going to do? Greens are soft but run fast. Shots to the green will hold. They roll VERY true and a little on the fast side. Fairways are in tip top shape. Tee boxes although a bit bowled are dealable. Sand Traps are well stocked, very good sand but dangerous slopes which will suck those balls into some black hole parallel universe. In those situations very tough to get out of. Lots of the waste areas that had that feathered wheat grass is gone. So long as you keep the ball reasonably in play you can score. Once I figured that out course and play was a whole lot easier. Finished in a little under 4 hours and this b/c we were on the heels of the group ahead. Saw cart gal 3-4 times on the trek. Nice thing about these courses is the lack of city noise. You would never think you're in the middle of the city except for a few holes the remainder I would say were almost tranquil.

Got out at around 10am this morning and it wasn't busy at all. Paid $65 w/ cart(click4teetimes.com) for this round and let me just say that I'm glad I did b/cuz if I paid regular rates I would be really upset. After the 1st 3 holes I wanted to start over.

As much as this course beat me up today I really enjoyed a layout where every hole is different and unique. Saying that Ike is challenging is an understatement but the beauty of the course is always a good distraction. Aside from obvious ball mark scars on a few greens I feel I got my money's worth today. I'll view my 1st round here as a recon mission and hopefully I can bring my game next time I'm here. I'll definately be back!!

With a w/e member rate of $82 and non-member rate of $135 course conditions did not live up to expectations. Many scrubby/patchy areas in or just off the fairway that have yet to fill in. Some areas severely overwatered and some areas that are completely dried out -inconsistent conditions around greens. Fun and challenging layout - but simply needs work on upkeep to justify premium rates. Service was well attended and friendly with plenty of presence - just wish I could say that about the gounds work.

I want to reply to Bogey1Fogey38 comment about water restrictions from the city. This is inaccurate information. We use reclaimed water from the city and there is plenty available. As far as the fairway aeration goes, the process is complete. The fairways are healing nicely, they just need some hot weather to heal more quickly. The reason for the thin areas in the fairway are because we eliminated the ryegrass from the winter overseeding. This process is necessary in order to create a healthier evironment for the bermudagrass. I know this information because I am the Golf Course Superintendent at Industry Hills.

Played The Ike on the afternoon of Friday 25th July. Knew the fairways had been aerated so was expecting them to be rough. However was not prepared for how rough and slow the greens turned out to be. Even allowing for us playing at twilight they were very, very disappointing.
As usual the pace of play was hideous and the Marshalls did not seem to be remotely interested in speeding them up. Far too many inexperienced golfers playing from the tips. Love both these courses but poor greens and slow play means I'd hesitate to go back soon.
At least they finally opened the bar downstairs.

Yes, all the fairways have now been aerated, lots of plugs and dried mud. We played at 9 AM, lift-clean- and place. Greens rolled nice, med-fast. Bunkers have nice sand, but were wet from watering, on one I got into someone did not rake their footstep as they got out and I landed in a large pocket. One of the greenskeepers told us that the city is restricting their water usage, so look for some browning of the fairways. Should be sometime before the fairways heal. Don't know about the BABE.

Update: just heard that they will begin fairway aeration today and it should be completed by July 23rd.
