I took advantage of their Mega Monday deals and since I had the whole day off, I chose to play 36. Played Ike in the morning, which was awesome, and then Babe in the afternoon. It was exhausting because both of these courses take a lot out of you, but an incredible experience overall. I had played the Zaharias course once before a little while back and fell in love with the course, so I was excited to play it again. Not as long as Ike, but a tighter and very fun layout. Both courses are very challenging and beautiful layouts, so there's not much more I need to say there.

We teed off around 12:45 and were stuck behind a tournament group. For much of the round we were stuck behind a sixsome(!!) and they were quite slow. On the back nine, a marshal caught up with them and broke them up into two threesomes, but they were still just as slow. So the round took about 5 hours and 20 minutes. But I really didn't mind taking my time on such a great course.

When I last played the Zaharias course a month or so ago, the conditions were superb, as they were on the Eisenhower course in my morning round. However, the front nine on Babe was a little less than "great." Fairways were a bit more thin and greens a bit more bumpy (still lightning fast, but less smooth than expected). However, on the back nine, the conditions were more like that on Ike. Near perfect fairways and smoother greens. And the back nine is so pretty here with some great mountain views and beautiful landscaping on some holes, it's so hard to believe you're right in the middle of the City of Industry! What a treat to play here!

It was my first time playing the Babe yesterday. Great weather and an even better conditioned golf course greeted our group. Got around in 5:20 on Sunday. I loved the condition of the fairways and greens! As echoed by many here, the tee shots on some par fours are visually intimidating so your swing has to be on song or you face a long day of lost balls. My favorite hole has to be the first par 5 on the back nine. It is a three shot approach to a very difficult multi-tiered deep green that falls off the back. I got crushed, scoring 10 strokes higher than normal as did most in the eight foursomes who went out. Now that I know the course, I feel better prepared to play the next time.

Played the Zaharias Course today. Hadn't played here in about 4 years. We were the first ones out at about 7:00 am!! Felt like a private course. Didn't see anyone for 5 holes. Course was in excellent shape. Fairways set up like a private course. Tough pin placements. Greens are huge with many undulations..finished our round in 3 hours (we were a twosome). Not cheap, but we had a senior rate..check it out.

Had the pleasure of playing the "Babe" for the first time this afternoon. She is definitely equal parts beauty and beast. What a fantastic course, and it was in spectacular condition. I've heard nothing but how challenging this course is leading up to my round and it definitely lived up to expectations. Very tight off of each tee (hardly any "comfortable" feelings while standing on the tee boxes), lots of big doglegs and tricky greens. The greens are fairly accessible so you can do alright if your approach game and short game are both on.

As I said, the course is in excellent condition right now, which is a breath of fresh air having played so many dormant and ugly "winterized" courses around SoCal in recent months. Fairways and rough perfectly green and fluffy. Greens pretty firm and hard to hold on the approaches, but rolled very smoothly on putts an chips. Not as fast as I had anticipated, but quick. To me, they were at the perfect pace.

My tee time was at 12:40, but it was about 1pm by the time our group teed off. Still finished in about 5 hours, so just enough light left. Slow round, but it was a beautiful day on an excellent course so I didn't mind too much. I look forward to playing the Ike soon, but the Babe is now on my list of favorite courses in SoCal.

The Babe is indeed in very good condition right now, tee to green and the greens are firm as in not holding shots well. Even a well struck wedge will release 10-20 feet on most holes (ie. #15 in particular), so keep that in mind when selecting your irons. A low shot will run right through the green. Putting is quick but not too fast, just watch the grain. #8 had the pin in the front, first time I've seen it there since they had to re-sod. Played leisurely in 4:45 on a Saturday morning. Not even crowded. Enjoy!

Played mid-morning 12/23/11. The Babe is in very, very good shape, and getting better. The fairways are tight, rough uniform, and the greens are rolling fast and smooth (#2 green is a little less glassy than the others but that's because it just doesn't get much sunlight and #13 green gets the coot droppings). The tee boxes are passable - there's some excess divot damage on a few. Overall, however, I'm pleased to see the course coming back from its post-summer damage. There used to be a tree on the blue tee box on hole #1 - does anyone know why they pulled it?

This course is challenging, but playable. It has a very interesting layout with several doglegs, some water features, and multi-tiered greens. The look of this course is as if you are on a mountain course with many pine trees mixed in with other trees. Some holes especially the third hole there are palm trees surrounding the lake.

I played the Ike (Eisenhower) course on 12/4 and it was in perfect condition. Read my review on the course. I expected the Babe (Zaharias) to be in the same condition. So I was disappointed that the front nine was in only fair to less than fair condition. On the first tee box and green you could see where they were repairing bad spots. The fairway had a lot of divots. I thought "Oh gee whiz. Is this the way it is going to be for the entire course?" Well most of the front nine was in this type of condition. I was pleasantly surprised when we got to hole 10 and saw the lush fairways. The back nine was in much better condition almost as good as the Ike course. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in better condition. My guess is that the course superintendent has a course repair plan in place and he started with the Ike course first, then the Babe back nine, and finally is getting to the Babe front nine. I look forward to playing this course again in a couple of months.

The food and the customer service are excellent. My friend and I shared the 18 ounce Kobe burger with sweet potato fries. Yummy!

The hotel, club house, and restaurant were decorated for Christmas. We had cool weather and could see the snow top mountains. This gave us a Christmas feel to the day. All in all a very beautiful day of golf!
