They aerated the back 9. Temp on 13. Water is back after a long hiatus. They really messed up a golden opportunity to turn their course into a gem again. I am so disappointed in this place. Expect perhaps 2-3 months of really bad playing conditions -- especially the greens in the near and foreseeable future.

Before I tell you what I really think of this course and its current course conditions allow me to stress, I used to love this course. I still do. It has character; requires you to use all the clubs in your bag if you wish; has a few long par 3s, some decent challenge. Overall I love the design. It's a great confidence building course.

The problem is it's upkeep. Whoever the greenskeeper/superintendent there should be sacked. I mean during this time of the year it really doesn't require a lot of maintenance. Sure we are coming out of the regular rounds of Aeration BUT the work done on the greens -- it's atrocious. It appears they tried to cut the greens really thin, then during the last bout of heat we had, overwatered the greens; cooking the greens, burning out some areas of the greens. Then they tried to punch holes in the greens; using tines too close together; tearing up the greens further. To spread the sand on the greens they used a heavy mat which tore up the greens even more. This is a joke right? But you have to see what we saw. It's terrible. No wonder it was easy to get on with a twilight rate of $20 (including cart) LOL, I would much rather play Harbor which sports better golf conditions for just 9 holes of golf compared to this muni and walk. The greens that were not aerated had these depressions in them almost as if these were areas of the greens that were scalped and just coming back. The balls do not roll very well, very bumpy, very slow. I have never played on a golf course, muni or otherwise where the conditions on the greens were so atrocious. I heard a starter talk about the golf conditions and all I can say is this person doesn't play golf or has never really played at a better course (which happens to be just 2 miles down the road -- called Rio Hondo).

There are really only two things most golfers won't tolerate -- pace of play and conditions of the greens. The rest they typically overlook. I can't overlook how poor the conditions here are. It's miserable. Golf is tough enough as it is why would you want to make them really hate the course, at least surround them with decent conditions. For the record I would put a haz mat sign on the golf course with a DNR (Do not resusitate) tag. It's beyond help. At the very least I would give this course wide berth and not return until some poor schlep plays here and let's us know conditions have changed. I won't be coming back until there is improvement and that will be only after I had a chance to visit the whole course. No sense is throwing good money out with a bad course.

Played on 10/4/11, and the greens were in the worst condition I have ever seen at this place! Alternate green on the 15th, they just put a flag in the fairway with chalkline around it. I don't expect much from county course for greens, however, these greens were in really bad shape. Thanks to the rain I finished in 3 1/2 hours.

Played here Saturday... I was hoping. Really hoping. All I got was real disappointment. Greens are in sad shape. No one fixes their divots. Greens themselves are in bad shape with some bare spots on 3 of the 9 holes I played. Hole 2 has a temporary green. Grass in fairways are fine. Rough is grown thick so expect to spend your time looking for errant shots. I won't be coming back for a while now. Or least until I hear the situation has improved. You would expect a course with this much character... it's challenging and fun to play, to at least be playable. At the moment playing here is a joke. You get more value just going down the street to Rio IMHO.

Had not played here for at least 4 years and I doubt whether I'll ever go back, what a pit, hard mud in the sand(mud) traps, greens had not been mowed and were slow and bumpy, no water in the lakes, and when you cross the road to play 14-16 it looked like they'd been landing aircraft on the golf course, I use the term golf course loosely. Listen I know its a muni but I play a lot of LA muni golf courses and this place makes Alondra look like good. Its a lousy kept course.

This is one of two courses close to me. Was able to get out today for a nice round of 9 Holes at the Twilight rate. Finished in around 2 hours as a threesome. Course is in good shape for this time of the year. You really have to be some sort of stupid to mess up a course during this time of the year. And this course is in fairly good shape considering the time of the year. Greens are bumpy. No one fixes their divots and they are receptive. Fairways are thin in spots but for the most part lush. The rough is thick in spots and thin in spots. Inconsistent is the best way to describe them but if you get caught in the thick stuff it is sticky and very difficult to get out. Get caught in the thinner rough and you have a shot. Bunkers are good, a little hard but definately playable.

Side note, folks that play this course do not fix their divots. Do us all a favor and fix one and one other divot so that everyone can enjoy a decent green. If your ball bounces part of the problem are those unfixed divots. You get uneven putting surfaces and if you don't fix your divot you can only blame yourself for that missed 3 foot put.

Overall, good little course with loads of character. A definate play again considering the greens although slow are definately playable. The good times are back again :D for this little gem of a course.

This is a fun little course to play with a number of interesting shots, a nice change of pace from the "big courses" Truth is we need a lot more courses like this for the average golfer - playable and affordable.
