Meat and potatoes golf on a sunny, breezy Saturday morning 4/14/12 after rain the previous night. Uninspired design and conditioning, although the greens were the best I've ever seen them, almost no ball marks and very healthy growth, although a little slow. poor pace with walkers, 5somes, marshall that rides around making jokes. I only play here when my group schedules a tourney.

If this course just had a little more love it would be a joy to play. All it takes is for the tee boxes and fairways to be softer and greener and the greens to be firmer and smoother. I really love the layout of the back 9. It requires some shot-making skills. The front is a little boring. This short but mature course has all the ingredients but lacks proper care. The par 3 9th is a monster of a hole. If into the wind it is a 3 headed hydra.

Played on 1/23 around 9:00 a.m. Pace of play horrible. Course condition horrible. It is an L.A. County course but compared to other county courses such as Lakewood or Mountain Meadows this is one of the worst.

The county lets others run the course and whoever runs this course should be discharged.

I have played this course for 30 years and it is in the worst I have seen it in awhile.

Oh well it was busy and nobody seems to care if it is in good or bad condition.

They aerated the back 9. Temp on 13. Water is back after a long hiatus. They really messed up a golden opportunity to turn their course into a gem again. I am so disappointed in this place. Expect perhaps 2-3 months of really bad playing conditions -- especially the greens in the near and foreseeable future.

Before I tell you what I really think of this course and its current course conditions allow me to stress, I used to love this course. I still do. It has character; requires you to use all the clubs in your bag if you wish; has a few long par 3s, some decent challenge. Overall I love the design. It's a great confidence building course.

The problem is it's upkeep. Whoever the greenskeeper/superintendent there should be sacked. I mean during this time of the year it really doesn't require a lot of maintenance. Sure we are coming out of the regular rounds of Aeration BUT the work done on the greens -- it's atrocious. It appears they tried to cut the greens really thin, then during the last bout of heat we had, overwatered the greens; cooking the greens, burning out some areas of the greens. Then they tried to punch holes in the greens; using tines too close together; tearing up the greens further. To spread the sand on the greens they used a heavy mat which tore up the greens even more. This is a joke right? But you have to see what we saw. It's terrible. No wonder it was easy to get on with a twilight rate of $20 (including cart) LOL, I would much rather play Harbor which sports better golf conditions for just 9 holes of golf compared to this muni and walk. The greens that were not aerated had these depressions in them almost as if these were areas of the greens that were scalped and just coming back. The balls do not roll very well, very bumpy, very slow. I have never played on a golf course, muni or otherwise where the conditions on the greens were so atrocious. I heard a starter talk about the golf conditions and all I can say is this person doesn't play golf or has never really played at a better course (which happens to be just 2 miles down the road -- called Rio Hondo).

There are really only two things most golfers won't tolerate -- pace of play and conditions of the greens. The rest they typically overlook. I can't overlook how poor the conditions here are. It's miserable. Golf is tough enough as it is why would you want to make them really hate the course, at least surround them with decent conditions. For the record I would put a haz mat sign on the golf course with a DNR (Do not resusitate) tag. It's beyond help. At the very least I would give this course wide berth and not return until some poor schlep plays here and let's us know conditions have changed. I won't be coming back until there is improvement and that will be only after I had a chance to visit the whole course. No sense is throwing good money out with a bad course.

Played on 10/4/11, and the greens were in the worst condition I have ever seen at this place! Alternate green on the 15th, they just put a flag in the fairway with chalkline around it. I don't expect much from county course for greens, however, these greens were in really bad shape. Thanks to the rain I finished in 3 1/2 hours.
