Thursday pick up round with dads from my kids school.

Course was surprisingly slow. We had a 720 tee time and it wasn't very busy at all. It did stack up a little later in the day.

course was in typical condition with shotty tee boxes. Fairways were the usual choppy conditions. The greens were ok but just not very smooth. They're usually better but between the pitch marks and the cut they were a little sloppy. Also, the pin placements on every hole were in the toughest spots. I'm sure to let the greens heal but it made for sure a different course.

810 tee time and the place was packed. One of the few courses without punched greens.

Round was slowish and a lot of 5somes. Funny how the 5some selection process works. There were some guys working on the fairways and several maintenance guys doing their thing.

Course was in typical shape, a little choppy but still playable. a couple of tee boxes were getting work which was nice and the tee boxes are way more level than Santa Anita.

Greens were good and rolled ok. Still happy to play on non punched greens.

Los Amigos is a fun course with a couple of quirky holes.

A scheduling SNAFU this past week meant that I played Los Amigos twice in a three-day stretch, so if anyone has the goods on current conditions there, it's me!

Walked both days as it's an entirely walkable course, and that also helps to mitigate the invariable wait times, which ironically were better on Sunday than they were on Friday afternoon. Go figure. Either way, big backups up until around the fifth hole are the norm here so come to terms with it.

Greens are in pretty nice shape here right now following the work done a few weeks ago. I would say they're fully healed and rolling pretty nicely right now. They hold shots and their lines pretty darn well. Fairways also have decent coverage right now but be careful in the rough as there are a lot of thin areas and the random tree root you don't see until it's too late.

Bunkers were a conundrum as the first few I played were in really nice shape, and then I got to the greenside bunker on the 11th hole and it was hardpan and chunky. Just pick the right one I suppose if you must beach it. Tee boxes are in decent shape (played the blue tees both days).

Overall I would say that I wasn't too bummed out about playing The Friends twice because the conditions weren't all that terrible and I played so poorly on Friday that I wanted some redemption on Sunday - which I luckily got. Price is always right too for this course so that helps.

Played today with a start time of 9 AM. Left after the 16th hole as it was already 1:30 PM and still needed to play 17/18 which had a foursome waiting when we reached it. In fact we waited on every hole today w/o any marshal every showing up. There is always a jam up at the first hole, 2nd hole and 3rd hole that puts the damper on a 4 hour round on this course. Course conditions are just OK in my opinion. Tee boxes were playable but beat up. Fairways had decent coverage, lies and roll out. No rough to speak of and that was fine. Traps were playable based on comments from our group. Greens while looking OK were very very slow and no one was satisfied with them. Good customer service in the shop. But I won't be going back as POP has always been an issue here and it does not seem to ever get better. The fee for Sr is $39.75 with cart but most people walk and course allows 5's and most of them walk so that contributes to the slow play.

Played this morning. Customer service in shop was great. That about ends it. Late teeing off as no starter. First tee looks like a grocery line waiting to check out. A long line. Waited on every hole until the 4th and then a backup again on 8. No marshal was on the course. To many 5's walking and too many playing from the tips who should not be. For God's sake move up one or even 2 tee boxes there is nothing wrong with that. You don't have to play every hole up, just the ones you know you cannot reach anymore. Leave the ego in the parking lot. Between # 1 green and # 2 tee it is a mess from construction behind # 2 tee box. Course conditions are not good but not awful. Tee boxes were playable but shaggy. Fairways have coverage but they are not lush, but they are firm and do provide some roll out. Traps are playable but no one knows how to use a rake. Greens were the best part of the course. In good shape chipping/putting fine and holding shots. It's a golf course that gets a LOT of play and needs some order on the first tee and a marshal on the course. It's a nice layout and fun to play but not when its 5 or more hours (I quit after 13th hole). And I think they need to do away with 5's or make them ride. There is no reason that everytime one plays here POP sucks. Time and time again I see the same thing said by others about their round at this course. I am a Sr golfer and if I move around a golf course like some of these Sr's do my golfing days are over. I have more respect for the game of golf than to go out and embarass myself like some of these men/women do and ruin the day for others. That's my personal opinion OK don't take exception to it.

Mattias and I decided late on Friday morning to play and looked online and found a nice 1:52 tee time at Los Amigos. Please note that time. We arrived early, warmed up on the somewhat depressing driving range, and then made our way to the putting area to await our turn to tee off.

From the first looks of it we could tell it was not going to go well. At first they told us that they were about fifteen minutes behind, but we finally teed off (along with two singles) at around 2:20pm. From then on and for the rest of the round it was an utter disaster with no marshals and a 2-3 group backup on every single hole for the rest of the round. Usually things clear up after the third or fourth hole here, but not today.

By the time we putted out on 18 to finish the round, the clock read 8:12pm. Read that again. We literally JUST made it before it started getting too dark. With a 1:52pm tee time. Absolutely and ridiculously unacceptable. It's just mind-boggling how poorly the day was organized by the staff there. Unbelievable.

Course was also not that great if we're being honest. Greens were a bit bumpy and slow with some dead areas, the fairways are 'okay' at best, while the rough is fine and the bunkers were a little on the lame side. You would think that maybe the tee boxes were the course's saving grace, but alas - no. They were thin, beat up and all over the place.

I will always keep returning to Los Amigos as it's almost always a good value round and while it won't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon, it usually provides a 'good enough' golf experience for its patrons. That was absolutely NOT the case this week. Very disappointing.

I played here 1/2 and 1/9 and the course overall is in good shape. The fairways are pretty well covered and the greens were in great shape. Green speed is medium and you wont get penalized if you are a heavy handed putter. For the price (I play mid-week) it is definitely worth it to get your golf fix. Typical round here will take about 4.5 hours. If you need to work on your game this is a good place..no real major hazards (think there is only water on the back only)..otherwise you are in play everywhere.

Saturday fivesome with a very early 6:30am tee time at Los Amigos this weekend. It was great to move so freely across the course but with five players and far too many ball searches, we still finished in just around four hours if not a little more.

The threat of rain lingered much of the day, but the clouds never broke and we even got some nice sunshine in doses. It turned out to be pretty fine golf weather. The course played its part as well by trying to keep up, but there were a few positives and negatives throughout the day.

The greens I actually found to be in quite nice shape on near every hole. They were surprisingly quick, held shots well and stayed predominantly true depending on any ball mark remnants. It helped being so early and cool that morning I'm sure. But no major complaints there at all.

The fairways were in pretty fair to good shape but some thin lies were out there to be had. Rough was pretty non-existent and mowed down to where every ball is ultimately findable, unless wet or OB. The bunkers had decent sand in them, but nowhere near as good as Los Amigos has had the bunkers before. The main gripe would be the mayhem of the tee boxes that were barely mowed and lacked any basic manicuring. Many were overgrown and had a few too many dirt patches. Not the best look.

Unfortunately the amenities at The Friends are either lacking or a trek to reach. There is no convenient snack/food option at the turn as the grill seems to never be open and the actual bar/grill is a decent walk from the 10th tee box. It is what it is. Carts are a bit beat up to be sure as well and there was no cart service to be seen all afternoon. However, after the round, stopping by the bar/grill is a good idea as it's nicely set up and has good food.

Keep expectations in check but you can always still have a good time at Los Amigos.

I played here 7/22/23 and its been years since I played here. LA is generally open and can't get in trouble in the front. The back has a a few holes with water. Fairways are in great shape and the greens were great also. As others have said perhaps the rain did the course well. The reviews are what the conditions are and overall I would rate the fairways an easy 7.5/10 and greens are about the same. Everythings was pretty lush and for the price well worth it.
