This was the first time I played RH on Friday 5 June and what a little gem this is!
I went there with a friend who knows I'm a stickler for maintainence, good greens and a challenge and this one handed all of that over for only $37.

Arrived with my chum at 9.15ish, put our names down and we were off by 9.45.
The highlight of the experience for me were the fairways and the fact that you really do have to think your way around. Fairways were smooth, clean, giving, had no patches, no hard pan - a delight to hit off. The greens were true, interesting, held their lines, they could have done with another cut, but I hear the members don't like them tooooo fast.

It's tight - lots of trees hug the fairways and there's two or three water holes where the ponds are not just there for show - the long par 4 ninth being a great example of that.

Nice little clubhouse too, great staff, Stella and Newkie Brown on tap. It just got better and better.

For me, it ranks up there with Rustic Canyon as one of the great value rounds of golf in the LA area. If anyone knows any other hidden gems please tell me. Being from Hermosa Beach and having to travel 40 miles for any truly decent golf, this was a great find, it being only 20 miles away. I can't wait to go back.

This is an excellent course that costs about $50 on weekdays. Its a perfect difficulty level for me. I shoot about 90. There is some punishment for bad shots, but not too much. There's water on several holes, and a few narrow driving holes, and a few severely sloped greens.

The whole course is looking really good right now. The rough is thick & sticky. The greens are rolling well.

The greens are in good shape. They could have used a mow. Overall conditions good. Good pace, not crowded during the week. Green fees: $49 with cart.

Solid track. Good all around test of game. Some mid-long tight holes where good tee shots are premium. Back to back par 3s and par 5s on the front.

Played the course for the first time today. Several "tight" and narrow (at times) fairways here. Accuracy is a must.The putting surface was speedy and undulating. The breaks on the surface are deceiving and fast. The course sets up for just about every type of shot making in your bag. If you only have "one" type of drive off the box, be prepared for a long day. Recommend you "read" the course's tips from several posters. They are on the money per their advice. One advice - balls will "run" on low "worm killer" hits. Beware of the mountain lion lounging in a tree.

Played 7 week ago. A nice hidden jewel. Located in an unexpected location of the City of Downey. A very fun course. Course was in good shape. Greens were in good shape and average in speed. Fairways were good at times a bit thin. Rough was challenging. Tee boxes were lush, at times slightly not level. Sand was decent. I recommend this course. The price is reasonable for any golfer. This course offers a great layout and the price is unbeatable. The course is primarily flat. Fairways are average in width. Course layout is very playable. Driving range and club house are very nice. Restuarant is top notch. A lot of Plasma TVs.

One of my favorite courses within the L.A. city limits is hurting right now. This place is just plain chewed up. Too bad, because this is usually one of the best maintained public courses in town.

Cart girl came around several times and was very nice.

Slight wind on the back, but very playable. Greens rolled very well.
