Played today, 1/19. The course is in pretty decent shape, the grass on the fairways is dormant/brown, but so long as your not in a divot, the lies are still pretty nice to hit from. The greens are mostly smooth with just an occassional bumpy area. This course can have some devilish places to putt from if the pins are in the right (wrong?) places - today was one of those days. Was in one trap today, and the sand was nice. We tee'd off at 7am today, and finished in 3.5 hours, so great pace of play.

Got out to Rio Hondo for a New Year's game with some buds, haven't been here for a couple years ... Like many SoCal courses this time of year the fairways get a little barren and muddy areas exist, but we understand and are thankful that we're able to golf during the winter instead of shovel snow. There are some target holes here, so play conservative unless you have course knowledge. Yes, nice clubhouse, and other comments/reviews are accurate. A bit pricey for the area but it's not out of reason.

Played today, 7 of us in two groups, 4some and 3some. Friendly game to celebrate the upcoming New Year. Course was in decent shape, most of the tee boxes were OK, with patchy grass. Most of the fairways were brown from the cold mornings we have been experiencing of late, too many unfilled divots, but ball ran well. The greens were nice, smooth, and quick. Not too many ball marks.

Down side - they would not give us the senior rate. We had an 8AM tee time, they said we had to TEE OFF by 8AM. Bummer! 19th hole was nice, friendly young waitress, extra tall Newcastle, good value.

The course is soft & moist due to all the rain. The greens are putting quite nicely however. Fairways are thin.

played today, 11/27. course is in fairly decent condition. the fairways are the only thing, grass is fairly thin, with a very soft, borderline muddy base underneath. i normally don't take much divot, but today i did as the result of the very soft turf. the greens are in decent shape, running about medium, and the sand traps are actually pretty nicely filled. pace of play was poor, and etiquette was also poor. if you hit onto another group's hole, let them hit their shots before running out into the middle of their fairway. lame.

Course is in generally nice condition. although very dry! Despite the fact there were not a lot of people playing, the pace was still well over 4 hours. (WHY?) Ever since they redesigned thi scourse years ago, it continues to be one of my favorites.

Greens are much faster than they look & rolling very well.

The greens have already healed from recent aeration, course in very good condition throughout. To the course management: When all the writing has worn off it might be time to replace the range balls.... Continue »
