This is a great course, always open and you seemed to be able to get a tee time at the last moment.
The course is in good shape, considering the time of the year and all of the rain that the course has taken on in the past weeks. The greens are in their dormant stage but are rolling very good. They are going to be nice when they come around.

The fairways are in pretty good condition and you can still get a little roll eventhough they are still a little wet.

The rough was good and im glad they cut some of it, I wonder how difficult would it really be if they let it grow even more???? -

I like playing RIO becuase it is a challenge, you cant just bomb it all the time, it has long holes and short holes, and it makes you think.

If you are down in the Downey area come by and play, it will be worth it.

Rio is more home course because it is always in decent shape, is somewhat challenging, and the pace of play is usually 4-4.5 hours. The course is not as green as others this time of year due to the type of grass used in the fairways but it still is a fun track to play.

Played Sat 10/10. First time playing this course. This is mostly tree-lined course. If you have bad tee shot day, you will have tough day. There are few holes with water hazards which make the round interesting. Course is around 6360 yds from the blue tees. Eventhought the course is flat and not long, with tree-lined fairways and water hazards, this is not easy course. Fairways are in very good condition. Bunkers are OK too. Greens are about normal speed. Their par 3 holes are not easy. Either water hazards play a part or pretty long par 3s. Couple of holes with 194 yds, 204 and 232 yds. Customer service was good. Price is bit higher than other course. Definitely go back again.

hot hot hot golfing in august. Fairways were punched, greens punched & sanded. Odd for this time of year. Course dry, brown-ing. Greens very slow- balls bounced to hole like elgin baylor double dribble. And some wind. Course looks like cupcake on card- plays tough. Long par 4's & par 3's with few breather holes. Tree lined so you can't blast away. This is one tough course for it's size. Call to clubhouse to complain about slow group in front prompted quick response- well done staff!. Cart gal in evidence all day, very welcome. Drinking fountains give hot water. need to execute shots to some big greens. Good variety on holes. Good value here.

Since they are "verticutting" (?) the fairways,there were some suspect lies. The geens were the slowest I can ever recall, which is not to my taste. Generally the course was in decent condition, but not as good as I've seen in the past. Because this course has some strong par 4 holes (1,2,5,9,18) and two tough par 3 holes (7 & 14) it's important to score on the remaining holes. (Which today I did not do!) Tough to put up a good number if you falter on the "easy" holes, because you can't get those strokes back on the "tough holes" Much like every course I suppose.

The greens have just been aerated again with nail-sized holes. Bits of dirt on top with a light dusting of sand resulting in some bumpy & slow putts. Fairways are excellent.
