Late review but played Skylinks this past week and found the course still not in optimal shape compared to when it's at its best, but still a fine golf experience overall.

The fairways are very playable albeit a little thinner than normal, but you're not going to have too many bad lies. Greens were in good shape, rolling medium-fast and holding shots well. Rough was manageable and bunkers were perhaps a little thin but wasn't in too many to be too upset about it. Tee boxes all in good, workable shape.

POP was slower than expected with a 1:30 start time and we came in on 18 practically with the last light of the day. I think at this point you can't really be safe for 'twilight' starting any later than 1pm, depending on the course of course. Can't recall the price but it was in line with the experience you have at this fun track.

It had been quite a while since I've played Skylinks. I prefer Recreation Park or El Dorado, plus the cost is also a factor for this course, but I decided to bit the bullet and go for it. The conditions were better than I expected. Greens have pretty much recovered from the aeration. Decent coverage in the fairways. Rough was low, which was good since I was all over the place off the tee. The the two bunkers I found had well raked sand. Overall conditions were very acceptable.

Enjoyed the round and getting out early allowed for a reasonably quick pace of play. (Under hours ) However I think the next time I travel to Long Beach again, it will be to be Rec or Eldo.

Teed off about 7am Friday finishing in 3:40. The greens are almost 100% healed from aeration. The greens rolled mostly smooth with medium speed and held shots. The fairways are in very good shape with good coverage and decent roll-out. The rough is cut down to fairway height along the fairways with some bare areas. The rough around the greens is on the lower side with a few patchy areas. The bunkers were overall better than they were a couple months ago. I was in a few greenside and all were playable and groomed. The tee boxes were thin of grass and mildly unlevel.

Skylinks has an enjoyable layout with a nice variety of short and long holes and water coming into play on several holes. Playing on the Bermuda fairways offer a nice change from the typical kikuyu of most munis. The staff was friendly.

Played 09/04 in the afternoon. Course is in decent shape, especially considering the dry conditions. Green rolled true and were receptive. We finished despite being behind a group of walkers that failed to move with an alacrity. If you want to mosey around a place with nice trees I suggest you find a park and not clog up the fairways because you think the world moves at your snail's pace. Sauntering into the bushes to find your ball 3 holes in a row gets old. Drop and move along smartly.

Twilight round back at Skylinks on Friday and happy to the report that the course is in pretty fine shape and worth a round if you're so inclined. A friend and I rode from the blue tees with a $69 greens fee (cart included) and a 1:30pm tee time. We were paired with two singles who got verbally confrontational with each other at around the 11th hole and kept it going for the rest of the round. That was odd.

Fun layout at Skylinks and very well guarded in all optimum spots with bunkers, and a few holes where water comes into play. There are plenty of holes here that don't require simply reaching into your bag and picking up the driver, which I think makes a course much more fun. If you employ good strategy off the tee here, you can score well.

Greens were in nice shape with a receptive surface to solid approach shots. Putts rolled at medium-fast speed and rolled quite true. Fairways mostly in good shape with a few thin spots near the edges or around the greens. Tee boxes and bunkers were in good shape with a few of the bunkers a bit on the wet side but nothing too bad. Rakes are available but don't think many people are using them, instead opting for the shoe scrape version everyone got used to the last 18 months.

POP was not ideal with the round taking five hours as the two groups in front of us were all acquainted and seemed to do a bit more waiting around for each other than is customary. But it was a gorgeous day so we made the best of it and tried not to get too flustered with the delays, especially at the par 3 holes. Nothing new.

Definitely enjoy this course as it's one of the best of the Long Beach courses and it's a good challenge in good shape right now if you can get a time.

Teed off Wednesday just short of 7am finishing in 4 hours. The greens a few weeks ago were medium/fast and smooth but today they were a little shaggy with medium speed. The greens rolled mostly smooth and held shots. The fairways are in very good condition overall with a decent amount of rollout. The rough is mostly low with a few thicker spots as well as thin/bare spots. The tee boxes have decent coverage but today many of the blue tee were set in spots that weren't all that level. The bunkers on the course are groomed with rakes available. However, many of the greenside bunkers are soaked with irrigation water and compacted.

Skylinks has an enjoyable layout with a fair number of bunkers requiring the golfer to put thought into shots. There is a mat driving range, a couple of putting greens, and a chipping area. The staff was friendly.

Teed off at 8:45 and finished in 4:15. The greens rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage and rollout with a few thin spots. The rough was mostly cut on the low side. Some thin/bare spots in the rough. The bunkers were a mixed bag. They were all groomed with rakes in the bunkers. Some greenside bunkers were in good shape while others were thin and muddy. The tee boxes mostly had good coverage. The staff was friendly.

First time playing here. Very fun layout. Course was in good shape. Will definitely be back.
