My first time playing here today as part of our GK Team Match Play, round 2. Overall, I thought the course was in decent shape. I'm not a big fan of the 5 hour round, or the $60 walking rate at 7:40 a.m. Greens: They were soft, but fairly fast. If you were not careful, you could easily roll 3 to 4 feet beyond the hole on most downhill putts. There were a few ball marks but they were easily fixed; the greens were soft enough that you could just use your thumbs to push the grass back. They looked completely healed from aeration and I saw no bumpiness to speak of. Lots of undulation and you really want to be on the right part of the green to have a real chance of making the putt. Fairways and rough: It looked like the fairways and rough have the same cut, but there was some white edge lines painted on the turf, marking out were it appears they will try to grow in some rough. It's all Bermuda grass and with the recent winter rains, the ground was soft enough to give the ball some cushioning despite the tight lies as the grass is just coming out of dormancy. Tees: We played the white tees and they were mostly level and had good coverage. Bunkers: They were all a little wet, but had been smoothed over with the sand pro. I did see a couple of footprints here and there, but nothing terrible. I was in a few and had no real problem hitting out. Like I mentioned, I felt the course was good overall. There was a guy who acted as a starter on the first hole tee, then we saw him acting as Marshall on the course. At least he was trying and appeared to care. I like the layout: there are a good variety of holes and some interesting layouts that should get you thinking about course management. The negatives: the walking rate is a little high, there is constant noise from the nearby (across the street) airport, the bunkers could use a little love, and the pace of play borders on the slow side. Anyway, I would play it again if I were staying or happened to be close by.
