played her today in an SCGA member outing for $60!! It was worth every penny to play a course in this condition. It was a perfect day for golf with a slight breeze and 80 degrees. Conditions were fantastic throughout the course with the greens being the highlight. I guess if there is anything negative to say about this course is the pace is usually a little slower than others but I think it is because of the layout. There are a few blind shots that you must check ahead to see if it is clear to hit and then you need to find your ball which can be rather difficult in the rough here. Great practice areas, great service, and great conditions make this a must play if you get a chance. The layout may not be for everyone but I think it really makes you think your way around and I love that!!! RECOMMENDED

I have played here a few times recently. 5/29/17 the course played amazing. The rough is thick and the greens are smooth. Be aware that the greens are firm, so expect a quick roll and a bit of a search to find the ball mark.

Interesting layout, good coverage from the beverage cart. There are a few spots under repair but it is not as much as one would expect given the rain we saw earlier in the year.

Overall a fantastic course. POP on Memorial day was less than 4 hours.

We played TPC for $60 on Monday 3/6/17 at a SCGA outing with a 10:00 shotgun. This is why I love the Internet and sites like GK! I love playing new courses, hard to get on courses, and courses in great condition. Years ago, I use to play Cypress Golf Course in Santa Anita for $50 as a special treat. I loved playing there and so did Tiger Woods (who holds the record at 61). Now there are a number of courses available to play at that same rate or better. TPC is a great track with all kinds of variety and at $60 I will play it anytime. Conditions are not perfect due to the rains but they are better than any muni which charges the same rates. For instance, I walked Milles Square at $52 last week and it does not compare to the experience we had at TPC at Valencia. The greens were fantastic, the tees were too, and the fairways were good but lots of marked area as GUR due to the rains. The course was fantastic compared to most muni's and many others you can play. Highly recommended!

Played TPC Valencia with S_Smith as the second leg of a great golf weekend. He did a thorough review, so I will just add a few thoughts. We played in windy conditions, which was welcome as it made the heat bearable - and it was hot. Fortunately there was ample water provided on the course. According to some members the wind was about normal.

First, the greens were just about perfect: firm, quick and true. Second, maybe I don't hit it as far as others, but I didn't have any problems with blind shots (except 14 and 15 and the tee shots weren't the issue).

As noted in other reviews, the back-to-back par 5s are a bit baffling, but I have to think that if I played the course again they wouldn't be as big an issue. IMO the other 16 holes more than make up for any issues with these 2.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable and challenging course. The facilities were wonderful. I highly recommend it if you get a chance to play it.

We had an opportunity to play this course yesterday. It lived up to my expectation of what a challenging, but fair, TPC course ought to be. Although it's designed purposely to provide PGA level play, it also played fairly for an amateur like me.

As for the course, we were told it will be over-seeding in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps even better conditions are near. Overall, the greens were fantastic! I'd guess they were running about 11 on the stimp meter, and definitely rolling true. The greens held shots and members appear to be very good at fixing ball marks. Despite the drought, the fairways are also in very good shape. There are areas around the rough that are patchy, but nothing that impacts play if you're generally in position. Tee boxes are not memorable, which for me means level and groomed. Nice work. As for the design, before going I'd read several reviews that described blind shots, odd routing and quirky holes. I didn't find that to be true, except for #15. It's weird - no denying that, but I guess members just learn to live with it. Fortunately, we invested in the $8 yardage guide and it gave us all the information we needed. Maybe that's why we didn't feel there were lots of blind shots. I'd highly recommend that anyone playing the course the first time get one. It will save you the guessing. Lastly, with private clubs, the feel of a course is just as important as the course itself, in my opinion. TPC Valencia seems like an enjoyable place to be a member, and while the facilities exude class and attention, it feels like casual and relaxed. And the service is first-rate. In our case, the starter, Merle, was particularly pleasant and helpful. He really gave us great tips about course management, design layout and features. So, no real complaints today. We could have benefited from access to more water stations on this very hot day, but we survived. I'm not sure what people in this area think of TPC Valencia relative to other private clubs, but I'd guess it's a top contender.

Played here for an SCGA members outing on Monday March 21st for $60pp. This course is tuff so pick your tees wisely. If the wind is blowing the length can kill your round due to the hilly terrain. Our day turned out to be near perfect with 70 degrees and very little wind. The course is in great shape. Tees were all level, fairways were very good however they did have a couple holes in which the fairways were damaged by the recent heavy rains or something but they were working hard to correct the problem when we were there. The greens were fast and firm so staying below the hole was a must. Playing this course for $60 on a Monday is a no brainer and the pace of play was 4.5 hours which was great due to how tough it is. We will return here for sure.....

Played on Monday 6/15 as part of a tournament. It was my first time playing the course and I was super excited to give it a go.

First the good stuff:The facilities here are top notch. Nice locker room, good clubhouse, and excellent service all around. The driving range was nearly immaculate and they had 2 different bunker/short game areas to get warmed up. There's no GPS on the carts, so be sure to bring your own yardage device (you'll need it).

The conditions all over the course are what you would expect from a private country club. Nearly perfect tee boxes, lush fairways, and consistent greens. The fairways are still recovering from a hard aeration they did about 2 weeks ago and you could tell the grounds crew was watering them like mad to get the grass growing. In fact, the fairways played very soft (quite unusual for this area) and made the course significantly longer. The greens are Bermuda grass, again a little atypical for SoCal but were in good condition, albeit a little slower than you'd expect, but I'm guessing they let it grow out to fully recover from their aeration.

Now the criticism. Mark O'Meara needs to stick to playing golf and move away from golf course design. Nearly every hole has blind or semi-blind tee shot/landing area that make it difficult for a first-timer. Also there are at least 3 or 4 holes that have trees right in the middle of the fairway (my pet peeve) and 10 of the 14 par 4 & 5's are uphill tee shots. The back to back par 5's on the back nine are 2 of the worst designed holes I've played. The first one requires you to hit a 230 yard drive, followed by another 230 yard layup which will leave you a 115 yard shot to green fronted by a giant oak tree. OR you smash a driver to down the hill to a landing area 15 yards wide only to be rewarded with a 220 yard approach to an elevated green that you cannot see and have to hit it over another oak tree.

The 2nd par 5 is even worse as after you smash a 275 yard drive, where you have the option to go for the green (240 yards away) by traversing a giant ravine or lay up to 160 yards. I literally hit driver, sand wedge, 7 iron to the green, in that order.

O'Meara tries to make up for it with the 270 par 4 17th, but again he puts a giant oak tree directly in front of an elevated green so actually going for the green requires a huge right to left swinger. That's not awful, but there's no flat area to lay up to and if you hit the fairway, you're 80 feet below the green and can't see the flag.

Overall the course is in splendid condition,but the layout is way to wonky and I'd really have to think about if I'd want to play this course again.

Played 3-16-2015 in SCGA members outing for $60 with a cart. The course was in great shape from tee to green and the service was fantastic. I would have rated the course even higher except for the lack of a lush green look. With the recent rains and summer approaching I think it will only get batter. If you haven't played here before give it a try. Difficult course but generous landing areas on most holes.
