Great twilight rate, today Thursday 9-8-11, I paid $16 with a cart ( & $5 key deposit). Took me approx 3 1/2 hours to play, first tee was full of golfers @ 330pm.
Found that most of the bunkers did not have sand in them. Looked like hard dirt. I was in the front left side bunker on #5. Rt foot was able to push away sand, left foot found about 1"or 2" of sand before I couldn't push anymore away. Struck sand by ball, very little sand there, lucky I didn't skull it.
Greens in great shape, except for the fact people won't fix thier ball marks.This is very upsetting. C'mon people, it's not that hard to fix them.If you don't know how, ask, or look it up.
Also pep's rake the bunkers. It's hard to get out of the bunker if you are in someone elses footprint or club swipe.
Hard to find the ball in the ruff, it's pretty thick. I was helping people look for thier balls and in order to find the ball, most of the time you had to be right on top of it. This slows down the pace of play.
Lots of " could kill u grass" especially around the greens.
Very hard to run ball up on the greens do to the uphills, "grass," and very soft fronts.
Keep you ball retriever @ home. All water on the course is green. You can't even see your ball if it barely goes in.
Ravines are full of weeds, bushes, small trees, water in some areas. Allmost impossible to find the ball if you are unfortinate to hit it there.
I saw some skunks at dusk. Lots of those pesky Canadian Geese, some ducks, turtles, and what looked like a crane. I saw a white and a grey one. I also saw some rabbits, and red tail hawks.
I would give this course an overall rating of fair. 5 out 10, would be hire if bunkers actually had sand in them, and if you wouldn't loose balls in the ruff, and if water wasn't green. This takes away from the beauty of the course, in my opinon.especially on the signature hole ( 17 ).
There is also a par 3 on this site. I have not played this course yet, but fees after 3 (today 9-8-11 Thursday)were $9. walking only I think.

Played Saturday, late morning with fellow GKers and LA Golf Group buddies Tony, George, and Michael. As I figured, it was crowded and slow (mostly due to a men's club tourney earlier). Pace really opened up late in the round for the last seven holes. I have not been here in quite a while. Conditions are decent if you can find the fairway. Some areas of rough have a lot of deep kikuyu that is hard to hit from, much less find your ball. Greens were soft and rolled nicely with a medium to fast pace with few putts falling off line. The best part of the course is #17, the infamous island green.

They do have some short holes(par 3's under 100 yards)but they do have some solid par 4's. Lots of bunkers that make the par 4's tough. Rough is really thick in some areas. Hole 17th (island green) is a great hole.

Otherwise muni conditions throughout - patchy fairways and rough with less than average lies. Tee boxes somewhat unlevel and gouged. Greens - very nappy, spongy, soft and therefore bumpy. Ball does not track and it's a lottery where it goes from distances greater than 6 feet.

Played on Friday, January 21, 2011. Starter got us out a little early, rather than place us with the threesome scheduled at the same tee time. Greens were soft, slightly bumpy, and medium slow. Tee boxes were a little worn and slightly uneven. Tees 9 and 15 were undergoing some reconditioning. They were completely roped off and markers moved up. That made the creek on 9 and the green on 15 reachable. Fairways were decent with lots of roll and not too many ball marks. Rough was dormant kikuyu and bermuda grasses, but left good lies. Traps had okay sand; a little thin and dusty in some while others had nice, whitish sand. Good pace of play, even though we were following a tourney; finished in about 3 1/2 hours.

Played 1/15 and had an 8:51 time, ckecked in at 8:30 and was told they would call us when it was time to check in....they were running at least 10 min late. OK, no problem, bought some range balls, hi... Continue »

Played 1/15 and had an 8:51 time, ckecked in at 8:30 and was told they would call us when it was time to check in....they were running at least 10 min late. OK, no problem, bought some range balls, hit 5, and was called back to the pro shop. We were told that we need to pay and we are "on the 1st tee". This was at ~ 8:40......Don't tell us we are going to be 10 minutes late and then send us out 10 minutes early.

As for the course...greens are rolling pretty nice. Fairways, tee boxes, and traps could use some help. Lot's of specials out there to play Vista (Golf Now, Golfzing, etc...). A good deal with one of those discounts, but not worth the full rack prices.

It has been a while since I have golfed here. Course conditions are as good as ever, and using American Golf's website we were able to get a decent rate. A little goose dung in places, but lush conditoins overall. Greens medium fast and smooth (slightly bumpy at times), tees were level, and sand was decent. Overbooking is an issue here and we had to jump ahead of a fivesome at the third hole. It was a decent pace until the 8th hole. A little slow on the back nine, but we managed to finish in about 4.25 hours. Not real good by any means, but not terrible for this crowded executive muni on a weekend.

Got to the practice green and was pleasantly surprised - firm, good speed and smooth. On the course, however, they were typical for this course - uneven paced, over-watered, bumpy and nappy.

Rest of course - fairways/rough are just about completely "dormant". Sand traps had plenty of sand. Tee boxes were good on most of the par 4's and longer 3's - on the short 3's they were in very poor shape.

Typical muni golf I'd say.

Pace of play slowish, but that's typical for here.

Overpriced, Overbook, Overcrowded. I am a local and have been playing this course for several years and have been overall somewhat satisfied with the experience. Today was a different story. 8AM tee time booked via golfnow.com and we were told we will see if we can fit you in? Are they not blocking out those times? So we get out 30 minutes late with no less than 3 or 4 groups lined up on the tee with most groups having 5 per group. A 5+ hour round on an executive course in average at best condition priced at $45 is inexcusable. There are way too many better options out there to continue to pay what i consider to be prices that are reflective of a better golfing experience.
