Played early morning Mar 8. The greens are rolling fast and smooth - that's the good part - the only good part. The bad parts - fairways (just terrible; I don't mind the dryness, but the patchiness is not good; tee boxes (chewed up; just mangled). I really like these courses, but if I was a non-resident, I definitely wouldn't come out here and pay the fees here right now. Wait until the Pasadena City is a few weeks away - the courses will be in better shape then.

Played 2/26. Went off as a foursome at 12:22. Got around in 4:40. Tee boxes were a little chewed up but fairways and greens were decent. If you can play for the twilight rate or get a deal from an online tee-time booking for a reduced rate, it's definitely worth playing. I'm not sure I would feel as though I got my money's worth if I had paid full freight. All in all, a fun little course.

Make sure to play with the ball you can put the most spin on and you'd need to launch with high trajectory iron shots to have a chance at birdie. The greens are decent and fast in the sun. The fairways need plenty of attentions. Definitely overpriced for current condition.

Played mid-morning Jan 11. I haven't been here since just prior to Labor Day because I generally stay away from this facility until after the college football season - the course always seems to deteriorate then, and I really can't blame the staff for that. It's pretty hard to maintain any kind of conditioning consistency when you're parking cars on the fairways. Since the football season just ended, I wasn't expecting much from the conditioning today. As expected, the fairways were very dry and hard - so the course was fairly unattractive looking. However, don't let that fool you. The course actually played great. Because it's been dry, the course conditions were hard and fast, and the turf was much firmer than normal for this facility. I actually enjoy firm turf as it creates more options for shotmaking. Today, I was able to play a variety of bump and run shots from 40-50yds off the green, putt from 20 yds off the green, and just create other shots too. Reminded me a bit of Scotland, where the turf is firm. There weren't a lot of large divots to be taken today. So while the course looks brown, the playing conditions were just fine. The tee boxes were ok, and the bunkers were just fine too. The greens were excellent - really, they were. Because of the lack of rain, they were rolling fast and smooth - with the exception of the short par 3 on the backside (I think #15). They also were receptive to well-played shots, and ball marks were few. I hope that the superintendent keeps the conditions hard and fast here - it just makes the game more fun in my opinion and forces the player to have good control over his/her golf ball. Besides, with dwindling water resources, it doesn't make much sense to overwater the fairways or rough. As long as the greens and tee boxes are maintained, the course will play just fine. A side note to American Golf: the young guy working the Course 2 window at around 330p has a very poor attitude. Very poor. It's one thing to be inattentive to customers, but it's quite another to be offensive. He needs to go, or at a minimum, get an attitude readjustment.

Our group got out just after 9am and finished in just under 4hrs. It was a beautiful day for golf in Pasadena. Its been over 3yrs since I played here and the price for a weekend round w/ cart is $70!! $55 if you walk. Not a good value considering there are courses in the Griffith Park area that are much cheaper to play. The good thing here is that the course was green and lush. The fairways were in great shape w/ only a few brown spots. The rough ranged anywhere from 3-5 inches and was inconsistent throughout the course so you don't know what type of lie you get if you find yourself in there. Sand looked soft and fluffy. Greens were fast and putts rolled very true but there seems to be a problem with other types of grass growing on them.

Course #2 is short and straight. You get the uneven lie here and there but most lies will be flat. A couple of fairways were narrow but wide open for the most part. There are a few very short par 4s but club selection is key on these holes. The drink girl was seen on the 1st few holes but disappeared for the rest of our round. Overall, I enjoyed my round here but I feel the price tag on this course is too high. I payed less than half that fee for a round at Harding the other day.

Played on Friday July 25th. Course is in fair shape. Tee boxes OK. Fairways had some bare spots but not too bad. The rough is thick in places and you could have difficulty finding your ball. The greens are in good shape. They are pockmarked because players are not fixing their pitch marks. We had a 6:15AM tee time, and pace of play was excellent, as we finished our round in under 4 hours. Not a long course, but challenging with some narrow fairways, small greens, and undulated greens.

Played afternoon of 7-19. The round was pleasant, but the course is not in good shape. Tee boxes were banged up, fairways were shaggy, the rough was high and very uneven, and the greens were seriously pockmarked. Some of the fairways had significant dry patches (which isn't really a big deal to me given the drought), but even worse, there were areas of what looked like tire damage. In May, the course was in fantastic shape, but 2 months later, it's a completely different story.

Played here 6/13/2008. Course is in excellent shape tee to greens. I dont have a single complaint about this place. Customer service is excellent and finished in just over 4 hours.
