The Good: medium to medium fast speed greens (nicely recovered from recent aeration), bunkers, marshaling and location.

The bad: Crowded on weekends. Pace of play could be well over 5hrs on weekends. Pro shop attendant (a hello and a smile couldn't hurt). I can find 100 guys in a day who can do the job better.

The ugly: fairways (plenty of bare spots) and tee boxes (punched for now but clearly not leveled).

Verdict: Length is not an issue on the course. It's tight and only a few holes demands the driver. Great place to show off your short game skill.

the Good: Greens - they are in best shape we've seen in years. Players are actually fixing their ball marks, THANK YOU! The fairway could be more lush. We love the layout. The tee areas are surprising leveled and lush.

the Bad: Slow play and hard to get early morning tee times on weekends. RAKE the sand traps people! Just because you see pros using their feet to fix on TV doesn't mean you can. They have caddies who actually rake the sand afterwards.

the Ugly: 5-somes..plenty of them..

First time here and we were paired with a local player who showed us the layout. This IS a great track. The greens are getting back to almost 100% from the recent punch. The sand traps were a bit shallow but nicely filled with fine sand. The tee boxes are leveled and well maintained. The fairways are just like what the links course should be, nice and hard. You need to hit the ball solid here. For $40 to walk, this is a great bargain for true links experience. We love the practice range and the club house. The lady at the pro shop is so courteous and friendly.

We shall return soon but we know now to keep the ball in the fairways. I got more dings on my blades from trying to get out of the waste area filled with rocks...

Second week in a row here and the customer service was better and friendlier with young men behind the counter. The course is fully recovered and the greens, still soft, are rolling true and slightly faster than last week. The fairways are still overseeded but shouldn't be a problem for good ball striker. The sand traps are just hard and unpredictable so AVOID them at all cost. We finished our 3-some round in less than 4 hrs of walking.

The greens are recovering nicely from recent punch but the speed is very slow. The fairways are overseeded and they're letting it grow like a 1st cut rough. The course is fun to play and the layout is setup for all levels golfers. You get used to the stench after few holes. The pace is good and there are many good players moving quickly in the early morning. The sand traps are HARD.. better to chip out..

The customer service, to my surprise after reading the recent reviews, needs major improvement. The guy behind the sunday morning desk was plain rude like he was never treated nicely in his life. Try smiling and say 'HELLO'!

I'm out.. but be back soon. I need to shoot under par on this course.

First time trying out the course and I was impressed. This is a country club style layout with muni green fees. We walked the course under 4 1/2 hrs on sunday morning. The staff is very friendly and the cart girl is hot. The course plays fairly easy if you hit it straight from the tees.

Pros: well kept fairways and rough. friendly staff. good layout to walk. $37 to walk on weekend is a bargain for this type of condition.

cons: OMG, the greens were slooooow. i wish we get the speed of nearby El Rancho. it lacks the length for long hitters. we kept hitting our drives and 9 iron on almost every par-4s.

Verdict: Can't wait to try it again and see if we can shoot par next time.

Played early in the morning and the course is lush as ever. The greens were slow from morning sprinklers so they were soaked and hard to judge the speed with severe slop. Most of us ended up over-reading the greens. The club house is staffed with young men and they're very courteous (not sure why other players were giving bad reviews about them). Good course to walk and cool place to have a cold one after the round. Don't forget to try the club cleaning service. Will be back again soon.

American Golf is managing this course very well. This is middle of summer under tight water restriction but the course shows lushness throughout. The greens were well maintained and cut thin enough to yield some medium fast putts. This is yet to be best condition we have seen during the summer time. For $33 to walk in the morning, we love this Diamond treatment after getting shafted for $60 at lousy Brookside in Pasadena.

It's a long course but there's not much tricks to it. It's hard to judge the distance with slopes. The condition is so worth the green fees and the greens are joy to putt — the speed is medium fast and hard to judge the breaks in some holes so approach position is crucial..

This is a course you'd need to play few times to get comfortable with course management. Join their mailing list and you'll fine some great deals like $40 on weekends with cart.

They increased the green fees and DECREASED the quality control.. This is not the Brookside we are used to playing. There is nothing prestige about this course anymore...

Slow play is normal but we tolerated for many years in exchange for quality greens and fairways but did they rid of their superintendent or something? For $60, you are getting worse than muni condition. Greens were slow and fairways were dry. I should have stayed home...

Our round took over 5 hrs 40 mins (The record).
I don't think I'll be back on the weekends.

I think the main problem here is that players who can't hit more than 220 yards straight drive are playing from the blue tees and taking mulligans. On every hole!

The course lost some of its lushness. The tee boxes are not leveled and grass is so thick that it's hard to get a good foot grip. The greens are still decent for the first few holes but the rests have plenty of bare spots.

This course is a joy to play from the black tees for all 250+ yards straight shooters. But if you are behind the usual weekend crowd, then you'd just want to go in to club house and have a cold one.

So if you're planning to spend your good $$s on the weekend with a good expectation of joyful golf, go somewhere else. You will thank me..

First time played here on Sunday morning, walked, and the pace was great. The course is certainly not your everyday SOCAL golf course. The layout is very challenging and there're generous amount of well maintained fairways if you trust your driver. The greens here require you to have your top wedge game if you miss your approach shots. This is where the bounce on your wedges really come in handy. The overall condition of the course is great and I can't wait to come back again.
