Played Friday morning, 2/9/2018, at 10am in a shotgun start with my monthly club. This course allows outside play on some Fridays, and our club plays here every February. Conditions were pretty good, with good fairway coverage, greens looking good with only scattered bare/rough spots, and sand damp but adequate to hit from. We played lift/clean/place, so even where we had deeper bushy rough we were able to get the best lie possible.

The facilities here don’t set up too well for larger shotgun tourneys – there’s only a hitting cage with 5 mats, and the putting green up at the cart area is very small. There’s another larger green down by the first tee, but outsiders might not know it’s there. Carts now have a ball washer and a small interactive GPS (F/M/B only, not distance to the pin location), and there are colored distance stakes on many holes. Scattered divot mix refill boxes, some with scoops.

Shotguns can be slow, but we were our lead group, finishing in ~4.5 hr and about 2 holes in front of our next group. Good for a relaxed play.

Played at 10AM in a shotgun start with my monthly club and several other groups – the course hosts outside groups in a shotgun on some Friday mornings. Weather was crazy warm for February with little wind. Course pro said they were in good shape regarding water as they get reclaimed water, so no shortage – apparently they neglect to actually put it on the course. One of the groups today was some pro mini-tour event with ~12 players, so pins were in crazy positions – stuffed along sides, in back corners, at the edge of drop-offs, etc. Three of the four par-3 pins were front, basically set up at the edges of the false front (ski slope!).

Everything is dry, firm, fast, and cut pretty short. The overseed of the fairways occasionally spills into the rough – in those areas you can get some pretty deep bushy lies. Fairway lies were generally good, although tight. Greens are firm and fairly quick – a few show evidence of recent punching and are a little softer. Unfortunately, you go from a punched green (#11) to two of the best conditioned greens on the course (#s 12 and 13), then back to a punched green (#14), so watch out for whiplash. Lots of old ballmarks. Tees were OK, sand had good depth and consistency – another case of MANY areas unraked, including our laughing/crying at one trap where a rake in the sand lay across an area of 3 or 4 foot-deep shoe marks! Lots of birds around the lake, and lots of bird dropping to play through.

Basic cart with no GPS or yardage book. Plenty of water available. Conditioning similar to many well-tended municipal courses in the area. OK, but not a must-play.

I went to the LA GOLF show and received a voucher to play @CCC for 1/2 off green fees for a 4some....so decided to give the course a try with three of my buddies....

I went to the LA GOLF show and received a voucher to play @CCC for 1/2 off green fees for a 4some....so decided to give the course a try with three of my buddies....

TEES: Blue 72.7/129 slope 6804 yds

FAIRWAYS: got a lot of roll considering weather and being mowed recently
ROUGH: hit and miss.... thick in some areas
BUNKERS: fluffy and consistent....found the beach twice
GREENS: aerated over a month ago..so fully healed..consistent and quick...10/11 stimp

This is a private classic mature tree-lined course. Because of the length, I got to use all the clubs in the bag...Besides some straight forward holes, the course had a mixture of draw holes first 2/3 of the course and fade holes the last 1/3 of the course...As for the staff....very friendly... met and greeted us upon our arrival and because of downward trend of golfers promoted various membership plans..in addition, the starter mentioned that they occasionally have teetimes available on golfnow...Overall enjoyed the experience with the freeway noise being the exception....I will be back....

Played CCC for the first time yesterday with a friend that is a member there. For it being "private" I was not really overly impressed. The course was in nice shape, but so are a lot of public courses. The layout and overall course is just average. Just a bunch of straight holes with length and deep bunkers being it's only defense. The conditions were good, but average. Greens were med fast without a lot of movement. The greens were bumpy from early morning spike marks on the cold damp surface. The fairways were good and the rough was damp and thick, a few thin spots, but that is normal in winter. The bunkers have great fluffy sand and was the best part of the course. My biggest gripe is that the greens have many unrepaired ball marks and the bunkers have many unraked areas. When I asked my friend why the members don't take care of the course better he told me he asked management and they said it was a cultural thing. I just don't get it. There is a lot of freeway noise as it sits right next to the 605 freeway, but I got used to it fairly quickly and it didn't bother me. If you like a very quite setting for golfing, this course would not be for you. No driving range, just a big net with about 10 hitting bays. I liked the course and had fun, but expected more.

I noticed they have been adding more times for this course on GolfNow, including Friday and Monday shotguns, but I never really wanted to take a day off just for it. I noticed they had some open tee times in the afternoons on Thursdays, so I was able to weasel out of work a little early today and check this course off the list. $49 for a 4:04 tee time. No real price break even late in the day on a weekday, which is unfortunate. It wasn't too busy there, so I was able to tee off a little early and joined with a twosome. Though there really wasn't too many groups on the course, we just got stuck behind three slow foursomes and there wasn't anywhere to go. Total 4-hour pace OK, but should have been faster at this time of day when things weren't too crowded. Bad timing, I guess. The course was in OK shape. I'd compare it to a good muni in terms of conditions right now. Tee boxes fine enough. Fairways had some thin/dry patches amidst the kikuyu turf. Rough not too bad, but inconsistent. They mostly had it cut down, so it wasn't too much of a factor. Bunkers excellent. Green slow, bumpy and beat up at the end of the day. Really frustrating the members here do not repair their ball marks or attempt to take care of their course. I was fixing ball marks and filling divots all day, but could only do so much. The course itself is an OK design. Pretty straightforward old course without much excitement. The 10th hole stood out to me as a pretty par-3 with an elevated tee, but not much else. The noise from the freeway with rush hour traffic was unpleasant, to say the least. Glad I finally checked it out, but won't be one I ever feel the need to play again.

Get your range time in somewhere before as it has a net about 4 yds away to hit into...good for loosening up but not much else.
