they are getting this course tournament ready, so now would be a good time to play. they are re-doing a few tee boxes, and they look like they are going to be great. new carts are nice as well. it looks like they are investing a little bit into this course, which is nice. all things being equal, i had a 7:20am tee time, and people were showing up for a 9am tee time and getting on ahead of us. i consider that a little irresponsible of the course management to let this happen. subsequently, we didn't get on until about 7:45. the layout is still...rough. i would hope to see a few drastic changes to make this a truly champion course that everyone in the area could be proud of. greens were well kept. bunkers were well manicured and free of tough sand or debris. the course is still being slightly overwatered, probably to get it green and ready for this upcoming tournament...but walking on a green and having casual water apear underfoot is overwatering in my book.

as my "home" course, i've played it plenty of times. i'm not crazy about mountain style courses, and this only serves to remind me why. this is by far the worst course i've played for the price. the green fees aren't high, but in my opinion too high for what you get at this course. they have made some recent changes to the course conditions, what i'm sure they consider improving it, but they fall short. they water early in the morning, so the course only gets humid during play. there is no thinking on this course, it's fairway or f*#%ed. some holes are obnoxiously set-up, and by that i mean they are unnecessarily "difficult". they could turn a few par fours into par threes and improve the course set-up immensely. don't expect to be amazed...

Played on 4/26 in the Anaheim city championship. Course was in good shape - no sign of recent aeration on the greens. If you haven't played here, this is a very tricky little course that takes a while to get used to. It's the total opposite of Dad Miller in that there are tight fairways with OB and hazards guarding, and lots of elevation changes. I have to say that Anaheim Hills has grown on me. It really makes you think and I like the variety in the par 3's, from 142 yards at #7 to 254 yards at #5. However, #12 might be the worst-designed golf hole I have ever seen. But if you take the quirks with a grain of salt, you can have a fun day and really test your game. Oh yeah, one guy in the tournament broke the course record by two with a 8-under 63. It can be done, so don't complain!

Played Saturday 3-21. Got off about 10 minutes late for a 0928 time but round only took 4 1/2 hrs. Tough, because of all the elevation changes, but just requires you to think and play. If you hit the ball reasonably straight and use the GPS smartly, you can score here. I put the Driver away on the holes that "only" needed a 190-210 yard tee shot. And don't be heroic and try to over power your drives over the hazards. Greens a little slow, but they were admitedly letting them grow in prep for punching in 2 weeks. Great conditions on a cold cloudy day. As, always a good time.

With the tremendous improvement in equipment over the last 15 years this course has become a little more dangerous on the back nine. I heard many "FORE"'s out there. On one downhill par 4 the restrooms where very close to the fairway. As you can tell I do not like the layout here. The fairways are in bad shape. The greens and bunkers are decent, however. A 5 hour round on a Tuesday is unacceptable. I will play here again...in 10 years.

played it last week...they were just lightly sanding the greens...but gave us a discounted rate to play...customer svc was very nice. marshalls kept on the ball with slow groups..challenging course...
