Despite not many people on the course, it seemed to play rather slowly. Overall the course was in decent condition, except a number of the tees had issues, either not level or severe divot areas. Rough was "spotty" particularly around the greens. While not one of my favorite courses, it does offer an appealing "visual" experience. Not a big fan of the elevation changes! But nice for a change of pace.

It has been about 1 1/2 years since I played this track. Last time was on my B'day '09. A DEAL popped up from Click4TeeTimes event $43.00 with cart, green fees and a very nice boxed lunch (Turkey on Croissant~ w/Lettuce Tomato, Green Apple, Chocolate chip cookie & Lays Potato Chips, white bread or wheat also available).

For THOSE who have played this GC like I have many times, (It's ONE of my favorite Muni tracks!!!!) the ELEVATED Par 5 first hole is NOW the start of the BACK nine ("WEST 9"). In doing so, I believe was to make it a little easier to get acclimated to this golf course because some holes require TARGET POSITION golf off the tee.

They have come up with a "EAST NINE" which is HOLE #1 (NOT HOLE #10 as in the original layout) and "WEST NINE" layout even though it's just 18 holes. There is no room that I KNOW of to add another nine holes?

I was pleasantly surprised by the current OVERALL conditions of this golf course! I mentioned to the Greens keeper it's the best condition I've seen it in over 3 years.

The greens are so soft, you can repair a majority of the ball marks just using your thumb to push back into the crater VS using a divot fixer which MOST people use incorrectly by tearing the underlining roots! Even though we were part of a Shotgun event, u can tell the EARLY morning players did NOT repair their ball marks!

Speed of the greens were as little slower than what you maybe use to, can be a tad bumpy but not bad at all, very easy to read just need to know where u can leave approach shots.

Tee boxes need some TLC, not bad just to be aware of it. In doing so, the staff has combined the BLUE/White and the RED on the Par 3's to help the existing tee boxes heal.

Fairways were much better than expected! Some divots need 2 be filled but very good lies when you hit the fairways (I made 9/14 fairways). This surprised me because we are now in the heat of the summer and the course is very green and very playable. Rough is about 1 - 1 1/2 inches high.

Bunkers? I was only in one of them and the sand seemed to be medium/firm, not real fluffy. Playable for the conditions.

I'll try to post some tips for future use for this layout...

Range? They have a upper and lower section to hit average range balls off "MATS" no grass. From the UPPER tier mats, your shots will carry further making you think yr hitting the ball longer.

On the course, simple flag positions of RED (front) White (Center) Blue (back).
All carts have GPS and layout of each hole as well as the position of ALL golf carts.
Some holes are a little dangerous because of the close proximity of tee shots and green locations.

One of the best views is on the Original Back nine, now called the "EAST 9" the Elevated Hole #6 366 yards plays into a strong wind most times, hard fairway to hit! You can see the NEW clubhouse in the background, an excellent view on a Majority of the back nine holes (EAST 9)

Yes, I'll be back, try to find a deal and you won't be disappointed!
Btw, it has one of the longest PAR 3's in all of O.C.! 254 yard Par 3 - Elevated, true plays downhill but try hitting it the green with a Driver, 3 wood, 1 Iron, 2 Hybrid etc?
Get up & down for a nice par and walk away...

Teed off today on Father's Day Sunday at 3pm and finished at 5 hours. Busy day but it was nice people attempted to keep pace.

Greens and fairway are in good condition. In the past years, AH greens were slow. Today they were running at probably a nice 9. The rough is about 2.5 inches and difficult to play out of if you're nestled down. The rough makes this course much more challenging than it is.

This is the best condition I"ve seen AH in. They need to put some more drinking areas on the course. I'll be back soon.

Played late Thursday afternoon, 6/9/11, on a sunny breezy day. Hadn't played here in ~15 years and decided to give it a try. Typical muni conditions in an unusual setting - soft fairways where the ball frequently sat down, small round greens, most without a lot of slope, that held shots fairly well and rolled well. Downhill putts could be very quick off those canyon slopes - be below the hole. Not much rough, and I wasn't in any bunkers. Tees on the west nine had recently been punched and were soft and spongy. No ranger after 6PM and pace on the west nine late in the day was poor, with scattered groups of 2 or 3 players of varying skill. No cart girl. Carts have a simple ProLink GPS that wasn't very helpful. Average conditions but made more interesting by elevation changes, mature chapparal vegetation that is attractive and separates holes. Some holes shoehorned into small areas. Lots of adjacent OB, as opposed to laterals, so wayward shots can result in ballooning scores. OK for a casual round.

Played today, 3/17/11, for the first time. I liked most everything except my score. I got to meet many of the trees which line some fairways no matter how wide the fairways were. You will have many uneven lies as well as some blind shots if you hit the way I did today. The fairways were thin, some greens had ball marks but the sand was good, tee boxes were at least level and the staff was excellent. Saw the beverage cart several times. The pro shop told me they had over 200 golfers yesterday and expected that many today so this is a heavily played muni which shows some wear but I found it to be fun and challenging. I'll try to play it again.
