Played this AM. When I last played here # 1 now was # 10 and # 10 was # 1. But I actually like this routing better. Now you start on a Par 5 and the flow and pace seems to be much better. Found the course to be in nice shape other than the construction going on. # 1 is a short Par 5 as they work on the green so it plays short with a temp green at present. # 12 is lowering the green by some 40 yards to improve pace of play and now plays as a short Par 4 with temporary green. And that effects # 13 as it is now playing from the gold tees but it still can be a difficult par 3. But the current playing conditions are just fine. No tee box issues. Fairways though thin will give good lies and roll out. Bunkers are all filled with good sand and playable. Though very little rough there are enough OB, small ravines and some water that one needs to be aware of and deal with. Not to mention the many trees. Greens were just mowed and held high shots and chipped/putted nicely with speed of about 10 IMO. And I had forgotten how small they are so hitting them in regulation is important. I did feel that the $65 rate was a bit high given the work being done. Especially with # 12 that always seemed to me as the signature hole totally a long way off from being back in service and making # 13 play shorter. They do have a Sr card for $65 that will get you a $40 play rate but I live to far away to make regular use of one. But I would invest in it if I lived closer and I do feel the course is one I would enjoy on a regular basis. Nice carts, driving range and putting green to go along with good customer service. They even let you take the carts out to the car to load and unload which I personally like. I would recommend this course w/o any reservations even with the construction going on.

Overall course was in good shape for winter conditions. Greens were FIRM and FAST. Pace of Play was good!

Mid morning tee time on Tuesday. Check in and first tee well organized and efficient, tee boxes were being worked on tees were either way back or way up. The tees were set in the mulch that was covering the teeing area and made teeing anything low a little weird. Fairways and rough had very good coverage. Traps were well maintained with good sand. Greens have recovered very nicely holding shots and rolling fast and holding lines. POP was slow at a tad over 5 hours.

played twilight over the weekend. late review. course was in decent condition. tees were level and in fair condition with some divots here and there. fairways were nice and even, but rough was inconsistent, some patchy, some thick, some thin. greens were slow and bumpy in the afternoon/evening so hard to judge. layout is quirky at best. not my favorite but i grew up around here so my buddies like to play it. slow pop, 5 hrs but it was a weekend afternoon so i guess that's sort of expected? i dunno.

Played with my monthly golf group this weekend and we had a 9am tee time starting out for four groups playing from the customary white tees. Greens fee with carts was around $90 per person which is an acceptable fee for this course in nice shape on a busy weekend, but feels like a bit too much when you take into account the near six-hour POP.

I was in the first foursome out for our group so this time I can finally say that the slow pace had nothing to do with my clan. We had a twosome of ladies in front of us who were behind a very slow foursome so it was a slog all afternoon with many par 3 waits 2-3 groups deep. Very difficult to get into any kind of rhythm.

In terms of course conditions though, Anaheim Hills is holding up very well with everything in good to very good shape across the board. I found the greens to be very nice, holding shots well and rolling very nicely. Speeds seem to vary throughout the day but nothing horrific to feel the need to write about. Fairways were in nice shape throughout, and the rough was often penal but mostly forgiving and fun to hit from. There are a lot of OB areas on this course though so accuracy is key. Bunkers were okay from what I saw and the tee boxes were in good shape as well. No complaints at all when it comes to course maintenance.

I used to find this layout very quirky but over the years as I've played it more and more it's become simply more of a challenge than a frustrating gut-punch trying to figure it out. Be accurate, put the ball in play and you'll be fine. Adjust clubs accordingly for all the elevations and make sure to aim towards your best miss spots. That will make all the differences in keeping bogeys on the scorecard and avoiding the triples.

I played here 7/29/23, first time at this course. If you love elevations changes this place is it. Every hole is either going up or down..I don't think you can walk here..and I wouldn't want to..even the hole transitions are steep..cart only. Anyway, really nice course, fairways were in good shape 8/10 and same for greens. For me $90 is getting up there for green fees with cart, but we finished in less than 4 hours..so there is a plus. The fairways were very nice and the greens also. They looked fast, but I would say comfortable fast..not penalizing. This place requires accurate tee shots also..which I learned. With the altitude changes..hitting a FW or hybrid off the tee will be most prudent. Overall, the course conditions and the quick pace of play is worth the cost. If you have been playing flat courses and want to treat yourself, Anaheim Hills is worth a shot. This course will not be in the regular rotation, but look forward to coming back here in the future.

Now, to the golf course.its is in fantastic condition. Fairways and nicely manicured and firm. The rough is a playable, 1"-2". Deeper into the rough, it can get as long as 4". The bunkers have great sand quality and is easy to get out. The Greens where aerated and 3 weeks ago and are perfect. This is a must play again!

Monthly golf group out at Anaheim Hills yesterday on a glorious 'summer' day in March - the first we've had here in a long while so we timed it perfectly. We had four groups and started with a 9am tee time. I was in the final group so got out around 9:30am.

Course is in very nice shape right now after all the rains and appears to have drained rather well as I don't recall any bog or marsh areas throughout the property. Fairways are nice and green with good lies all afternoon, while the rough is thick but manageable all around. Tee boxes were mostly flat and in good shape, while the bunkers were okay with a few a bit on the thin side but mostly good.

Greens were in good shape but rolled a bit inconsistently from hole to hole, however that may have had a lot to do with the weather temps changing quite a lot from start time to the back nine. But overall they rolled very nicely if you could adjust to the varying speeds. A few tricky greens for sure here, and many are quite small, but fair enough if you put a good stroke on the ball.

POP was pretty poor but I can't determine if that was simply the groups ahead of me from my team, but overall to finish in around 5.5 hours is not ideal. The good part is though that we had plenty of cart service opportunities and there's a great little snack shack (with a very nice hot dog deal) at the turn - very convenient.

I would definitely recommend Anaheim Hills right now in terms of conditions, but it's also a rather quirky and somewhat difficult course to manage and no amount of sunshine can change that. I suppose your opinion of the layout all depends on how well you did or didn't score on that particular day.

It pains me to write this about my home course, but wow, it is in rough shape. Maybe American Golf is finally taking its toll. I understand fall maintenance, but the course was a wet swamp. I am hoping it is temporary. Greens were punched a couple weeks ago and actually rolled nicely. Everything else was rough. Worst part was Pace of Play! There are no marshals, so even though 5somes are not allowed, there was a 5some playing, that held up the entire back nine. They were three holes behind. The pro-shop couldn't do anything either because he was the only person working. Finally, there were no golf carts available upon arrival. We had to wait until right before our tee time to get a cart. Please restore proper PoP and a better experience.
